Sega also had the nerve to charge 800 MS points for this game, and then release DLC mere hours later to get the 'full' game (DX version) which will set you back another 400 points, totalling 1200 MS points.

Those complaints aside, this is a fun little game with colourful graphics and great sound. Worth a buy. I advise you to give the 'DX' upgrade a miss though - just purchase the main game. The DX upgrade doesn't add enough to warrant another 400 MS points.

Only buy it if you liked this Sonic Adventure! As an arcade title on its own.. it's a horrible port, not even in widescreen.. The voice acting, and camera are just as bad as they were when it first came out, but for those who loved the game theres no real reason not to buy it again.

Sonic Adventure was a fantastic game back in 1999, though it really hasn't stood well against the test of time. The camera flies through walls, the clipping is bad, the voice work is terrible- but somehow, it still remains a relatively fun experience.

Sonic Adventure was a fantastic game back in 1999, though it really hasn't stood well against the test of time. The camera flies through walls, the clipping is bad, the voice work is terrible- but somehow, it still remains a relatively fun experience.

Sonic's campaign alone is a good four hours long and is an enjoyable, yet shaky ride. The gameplay stands up pretty favourably compared to some more recent Sonic titles, with the original Mega Drive 'pinball-like' Sonic physics feeling right at home here in Adventure. Not to mention, there's plenty of homage to the older games, with references to Angel Island from Sonic & Knuckles and even a flashback of Amy's experiences being hedgehog-napped by Metal Sonic in Sonic CD.

Each character has their own unique style of play, which is both interesting and innovative. Unfortunately though, two characters in-particular let the side down, with both Amy Rose and Big the Cat suddenly throwing everything that made Sonic what he is out of the window, bringing the experience to a complete stand still. Despite this, these characters are completely optional (unless you want to see the 'secret' ending), so you'll be happy to know that you can enjoy playing as the other four characters without having to be punished by being forced to plod around as either of these two.

The level environments are nice, too. You'll go from sunny beaches to dangerous volcanoes and even venture into an ancient, aztec themed world. Adventure Fields eventually become a bit of a chore, and often can leave players feeling lost with no real indication of where to go next. Still, the level that's to follow feels like a suitable reward (through the Sonic campaign, at least) and nearly all are memorable (though we wish to forget the sheer frustration experienced in Sky Deck... we hate Sky Deck.)

So, with all these more positive sided things on board, why a 5? Simply because what you're getting here isn't exactly the Sonic Adventure I, and probably you, remember. The first of SEGA's 'Dreamcast' classics has been slapped onto Xbox Live in the laziest way possible. What we're presented with here is actually 'Sonic Adventure: DX', a remake of the original game released for both Game Cube and Windows PC, without the extra features. SEGA have directly ported the PC version of DX (which is why we're also seeing the very disappointing lack of wide screen support) and have removed the additional 'mission mode.' Why directly port a game and bother to remove the features, you ask? Money.

In typical modern-day SEGA fashion, both the mission mode and unlockable 'Metal Sonic' character have been released alongside the game at an additional 400MS points. It's barely worth half of the full games price, mind you, but there is no other reason for SEGA to remove features that were once present in the original PC version other than to make a quick cash-in. It's typical SEGA, and it's unfortunate (though predictable) to see them celebrating the first release of their 'Dreamcast' classics list by totally ripping people off.

There's still fun to be had here though, with plenty of single player stages to blast through, a hand full mini-games and, of course, the much loved Chao Gardens. If you can get past the glitches, the horrible scripting work and the awful voice acting / script, there's plenty enough content in here to verify a 800MS point purchase. The 400MS point add-on DLC however should have come as part as the original package as it did on the Game Cube and the PC. The only explanation as to why it doesn't here, is money. And in this case, SEGA really does not deserve it.

The port of the game is good but as some other HD ports it has certain flaws like the framerate of the game and the aspect ratio is pathetic. So it would be worth it if your a sonic fan but it would not be worth it if you love this game.

Sonic Adventure: DX, the first 3D platformer I ever owned, how does it hold up now? Well, pretty well if you ask me. I mean, it plays EXACTLY like the DX version only with HD graphics. The Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles stages are a lot of fun, the music is awesome ("It Doesn't Matter" was my anthem growing up), the story is engaging and never talks down to the audience/gamer, and theSonic Adventure: DX, the first 3D platformer I ever owned, how does it hold up now? I also like the voice acting, though Knuckles and Big are pretty lifeless and boring (Seriously, Knuckles always sounds like he's narrating! It's actually kind of funny). As great as these things are, there are a few things that bothered me. The camera is pretty frustrating, it's easy for a character to get caught on walls when running down narrow pathways which breaks your momentum (very annoying). The hub worlds feel like padding and the "unlockables" you get from doing missions are nothing but a bunch of crappy Game Gear games. The real salt to the wound is Big the Cat, quite possibly the most useless waste of animation ever put in a game! His voice sucks, the character sucks, his gameplay (fishing) sucks. He just shouldn't exist at all imo. Amy and Gamma's stages are also pretty dull as well, but their stages don't really last too long. Overall, this is a fun game and if you liked it on the Gamecube, you'll like it on the 360. Expand

I love Sonic just as much as the next guy but even I will admit that I find the adventure games to be slightly over rated. I still like them but I don't love them. I only like about 2 of the different character's missions, I hate the Big the cat levels and the Knuckles missions.

Además no puedes desbloquear los minijuegos de la versión de Gamecube/PC.

Sonic Adventure is an utterly amazing game. Some people call it one of the last really good sonic games which we all know is untrue but Sonic Adventure is great but is it the best no let me explain why.

So I'm going to give a basic rundown of the Story basically this game follows the story of 6 characters. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Big the Cat, and E-102 (Gamma) and each have their own story. Sonic story is him trying to stop Eggman from taking the Chaos Emeralds to and stop him from causing the Destruction of the City. Tails Story is Similar to Sonic but has a sub story of tails trying to stand up for himself and learn to not be scared. Knuckles is trying to get Angel Island to float back up in the air but the master emeralds the one that lifted up the island, broke. So he has to find the piece of the master emerald. Amy Story is about protecting the bird she found and then also escaping this robot that is following her around for most of her levels. Big the Cat lost his best friend froggy which is literally a frog so Big the Cat has to fish him up for each stage to get his precious froggy back. I will get back to these levels later. E-102 or Gamma
Is Eggman robot he made but I feel if I tell a bit too much about this story it would spoil some of Amy's story.

Now for the gameplay. When talking about Sonic Adventure Gameplay there are a lot of positives and a lot of negatives. Let's stay positive for a bit because I really love this game. Just this game has a lot of flaws. Each character has a very different type of gameplay Sonic you mainly run fast through the stage and try to get to the goal without dying. I really appreciate that they gave the character different play styles and didn't just reskin sonic to look like the character. Also in the sonic levels it feels great to play as Sonic he controls pretty well. For tails gameplay you're always trying to beat sonic to the goal which is pretty easy a lot of the time so you should worry. His is very similar to sonic but with tails he can fly so he can take different routes unlike sonic. For Kunkles it's actually a really fun bit of gameplay basically you got to find the pieces of the master emerald hidden in a lot of the areas in the level it's actually a nice little break from the speed of the Sonic and Tails levels. Unlike something we will be talking about a bit later. Amy levels your escape from one of Eggman's robots. Yet it does feel very slow and not the fun slow like Knuckles but it does have some fun moments. Now the Big the Cat levels….later. The E-102 (Gamma) are actually a nice change of pace instead of the clock slowly building up as you go through the level In the Gamma level time as the game goes down and you have to beat a bunch of enemies in order to keep time up. It is a lot of fun and honestly I have no hate toward his levels but they are over way too soon. Now onto some of the things I hate about this game. You get lost way to easily there where moments where I didn't know where the next mission was because I was searching around for hours just to get it started lucky sonic route didn't do too much of this and gamma didn't have it at all be but every other route has a cause of searching for hours. The bugs are also a small issue when I was playing as tails. I got stuck on the train that led to Station Square and I had to restart from my last save. Amy's level was very boring. Amy was weird to control and the fact a robot was followed everywhere didn't make it easy to solve puzzles in her levels. Although that not the worst part about this game the worst part about this game is the Big the Cat levels aka the FISHING MINI GAME that right a fishing mini game in a sonic game it's sucks I had to look up a guide on how to get froggy on the fish hook and even then it was still hard to do luckily this is one of the route so it's not like it happen twice. Also poor Big gets all the hate from the fans but people didn't realize the true menace is FROGGY. Yeah but I think big the cat is neat! Although I am glad that my nitpicks were fix in SA2

Even with all these nitpicks about this game it is still really good and sometimes the glitches can be really goofy and funny. Not to mention the cutscenes are really bad but like the funny bad. So yeah this game a lot of fun so Open Your Heart and give this game a chance

Sonic Adventure is a game I love, but it definitely has a lot of issues. 2 out of 6 of the gameplay styles are pretty bad (Amy and Big). Tails's stages are too easy and short, and the story has aged as well as milk. But the other half of the game is really good (Sonic, Knuckles, and Gamma), there's a reason these 3 gameplay styles returned for Sonic Adventure 2.
