  1. Those who have a reliable gaming comrade on hand will find Schizoid to be a very rewarding cooperative romp, even in the face of some derivative level design. Just don't expect to feel the magic if you're the only one playing.
  2. Whether you're a more casual gamer looking to join up with a buddy for a quick adrenaline surge, or you're the hardest of the hardcore determined to prove that there's no one better to rely on than yourself, Schizoid has more than enough to make you a little mental ... but enjoying yourself all the while.

As pure a game as you'll find, Schizoid is the new "Geometry Wars." [Oct 2008, p.84]
  4. Schizoid proudly bills itself as "the most co-op game ever," and it ain't lying. [May 2008, p.74]

Schizoid has a slick, artsy look and is simple, yet elegant. This game is addictive and a lot of fun for those seeking a distinctive experience based on traditional top down shooters.
  6. Schizoid's simple to learn but difficult to master attitude makes this definitely one of the better XBLA games of 2008.
  7. Schizoid is a fine entry to the XBLA library, with plenty of depth and difficulty to challenge even the most hardcore gamer. Those looking to see exactly how good they are at co-op games will find this quite the test of their skill and patience with partners.

A clever, captivating and fun Arcade game with great production values and some innovative ideas. The co-op mode is lengthy and challenging, but wears on after a bit, while the mind-bending Uberschizoid mode is cruelly clever with a sharp learning curve that may be a turn-off for some.

Easy for anyone to pickup and play, but very difficult to master. It's not as frustratingly unforgiving as other games like Geometry Wars. Lots of medals to earn and stages to explore, and many great little touches (like skipping golded levels, earning more lives every 10 levels, etc). A beefed-up version on DVD with a more intuitive and deep interface, better wingman AI, and customizable ships would have made for a perfect game in my book. A 4-player co-op mode would have been nice, but would have required a set of custom stages. With that said, it's worth the price of admission and has me looking forward to a sequel. Full Review »
