Hexic 2’s addition of other pieces will make it a bit more playable, though Black Pearls are still going to be a challenge if you don’t already know how to get them. As well, the inclusion of Battle Mode adds a great platform for competitive gamers.

Official Xbox MagazineHexic 2 deftly expands every concept that made its freebie predecessor the star of Live Arcade's launch. [Sept 2007, p.74]

After playing Hexic 2, it’s really hard to go back and play Hexic HD. Hexic 2 is worth checking out especially if you have friends that are also competitive puzzle fanatics.
-
Hexic 2 is an excellent puzzle game on its own merits, but the original was perfection. For fans of the first game, multiplayer, new pieces, and new leaderboards to conquer should be well worth the 800 Marketplace points (around $10), but those who haven't given the series the time of day should explore the original first.
-
Hexic 2's new multiplayer mode adds frenetic new fun to an already-sharp puzzle game.
-
The changes are plentiful, but there's nothing ludicrously revolutionary here.
