Thus far, I have only played the Campaign, but I have extremely enjoyed it. One of the best campaigns I have ever played. I haven't played multiplayer AT ALL yet, but I really want to! Highly recommended!! Better story than Black Ops, in my opinion.

It's getting so classical but still very entertaining. I only play solo because of my poor internet speed, but i'd say the campaing is even more spectacular than usual and it deserves a good rate, even if the game is short.

This is the best call of duty to date. I took a week vacation to log so long hours. It will not be long enough. The game rocks in every aspect, it you like call of duty or 1st persons shooters, do not miss this game, it is an incredible experience. Answer the call, you will not be sorry.

The campaign for this game leaves much to be desired, but the Spec ops and multiplayer is satisfying and incredibly addicting. This game is the best of the series.

Many of these users that rated this game a "0" sound very much like Battlefield fanboys to me. Most of their criticisms are the "small maps","lack of vehicles", and "lack of destruction". Most of their criticisms are the "small maps","lack of vehicles", and "lack of destruction". If you want those things play Battlefield and stop hating on a game because it outsold yours. Honestly I have been playing COD since the original and it has consistently set the bar for first person shooters especially for console players. I would have purchased this game even if it had no single player campaign at all. I find it extremely hard to play single player when the multiplayer is this addictive. In my opinion a game would have to be completely broken and unplayable to warrant a "0" rating and this game is far from that. The shooting mechanic is still the best on the market and firefights are always frantic and exciting. Personally I love the close quarters combat. There is no better feeling than turning a corner, catching a glimpse of 2 enemies heading your direction and having the skills to get both kills when they have the upperhand. So Im sorry to all the users on here that played MW3 for a couple hours online, got slaughtered by me, lost all self esteem and rated this game a "0". The multiplayer is top notch but I wish they would have incorporated 4 players into Survival Mode. Also I'd hoped that playing Survival Mode would help to rank me up in multiplayer but they are 2 separate things. If there were some kind of reward to playing Special Ops that would carry over to your multiplayer that would be great. Other than those issues this game is awesome and there is no reason to not buy this game RIGHT NOW!!!!! Expand

There might be much of the same here for MW3 but it delivers. The game is hands down fun no matter who you are. All the new tweaks hit where it counts and the new game types are great such as kill confirmed. Brings out all the campers ;-)

modern warfare hasn't lost a beat since mw2 and is still the solid shooter i have expected from infinity ward, even after all the shannanigans going on at activision. all the negative scores and zeros are from just trolls and ignorant people that haven't played the game or just want to be a demeanor on something that they don't want to like and have no wish to play.

you cant get a game as reliable as call of duty. it is a garaunteed good time whether by yourself or with friends. Sledghammer changed it up and i believe that they took the best of call of duty 4 and modern warfare 2 and combined them. they have made me a believer. i would have liked bigger maps, and more updated graphics. small complaints which is why it did not recieve a 10 from me

Dont listen to these reviews. If you liked MW2 you'll love MW3. The Campaign is the best campaign in any COD ever made. I agree with the MW 2.5 aspect but im perfectly fine with MW 2.5. They took out all the garbage that was in MW2 and made it a more gun on gun game. No 2nd chance, No one man army no command perks.

I have played every Call of Duty game out, and I didn't start with COD Classic, the original, with the 2 expansions. MW3 is by no means a bad game. The COD 4 :MW is on of the best games that I have ever played, and if MW3 still plays like it but with new maps and new weapons with a re-vamped kill streak system then so what? Doesn't mean that it is not fun to play. My only grip about this game so far is the length of the campaign. I beat it in 5 hours, which is short and a little disappointing, but the actions sequences that happen in the game will keep me coming back. I respect the developers for not adding fluff to the story just so I can play for an extra 20 minutes. Besides, if you are only getting this game for the story, you are missing out on some great co-op and multi-player gaming. Sure people are going to hate this game because it is a big name game, but that doesn't mean that is a bad game. Activision and their yearly release of COD game is getting annoying though. They are going to destroy a great series, which is a shame. I will only by the games developed by IW to support them since they are one of the best developers out there at the moment. I would also like to show some love for SeldgeHammer games with their amazing contribution to this series. I hope that they will stay the path with IW to make great games. Not that I want to bash Tryarch, but I am just not a fan of their games. (Except the expansion packs for the original Call of Duty) Expand

There are numerous additions and subtle changes to the game from Black Ops and MW2, many of which are excellent. For example the new weapon sway on many guns such as ARs and SMGs when aiming down the sights make engaging at long range more skillful. The guns kill quicker than on Black Ops and the maps are smaller and more 'crafted' for intense short firefights. The Killstreaks are slightly more complex but less powerful and in objective modes, going for the objective counts to your killstreak.

The campaign is disappointigly short, much like CoD 4, WaW MW2 and Black Ops campaigns. However this is primarily a multiplayer game and that is where MW3 is strongest. Overall I give it 9/10. It is the game MW2 should have been.

Overall MW3 is a superb addition to the series

Welcome to the THIRD game in the series, you can't expect it to be changed too drastically. Honestly, I love how it feels aside from the maps. Best yet. As for the graphics.. Unless you dislike the other MW games, there's no reason not to get this one. It polishes up the multiplayer beautifully. (Also, on the same weapons comments: What do you expect? It's MODERN WARFARE 3. Lol. Modern warfare only leaves so many options for the weaponry, as only so many guns are in common use/potential use. As is, the weapons are wonderful, if anything it's the maps that hurts their use.)

The beta for BF3 convinced me to go with MW3 (not to mention most of my friends were getting this game).

I've got about a dozen hours into the MP and feel that it's very comparable to MW2, but with some interesting (but good) changes and better graphics. I realize a lot of people are complaining that it's similar to previous installments. My response is, "yeah, and??". They're supposed to be similar. You can't make sweeping changes to the game and expect to keep the core audience. This particular formula has made COD the king of the hill of first person shooters. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

The campaign to this point (about 5 hours in) isn't great but is definitely a step up from MW2. I'm playing through on veteran and am thoroughly enjoying myself with it. As with all COD campaigns, the gameplay and shooting is phenomenal. I find myself not overly interested in the storyline, but if I want a story, I'll read a book. I play games for gameplay and fun, and this campaign delivers on both accounts.

My favorite part of the game is definitely spec-ops. I've got about 15 hours into survival mode and am overly impressed. This (imo) is what makes this worth the purchase. As I mentioned earlier, I've been playing COD forever and don't really care too much about the MP any longer. This mode, however, will keep me wanting more. Single player or coop (coop is defintely more fun). I haven't even had time for the spec-ops missions yet, and I really enjoyed them in MW2.

Overall, this game is about a 9.25 for me. It's not an all time great, but is worth the price of admission. I can't speak of BF3, which a lot of people seem to be whining about on here, but I can't imagine it offers more as a whole. I really think it's a shame that there are so many degenerates posting reviews on a game. A zero, really? A 2, really? Even if you hate COD, rating it as a 6 or 7 will get your point across. But marking it a 5 or under is just plain hating and has no business here. A lot of us read the user reviews on sites like Metacritic to guage whether or not we should get a certain game, and the dumba$$es marking the score down are doing all of us a disservice. Please grow up!

Played CoDMW3 for a few hours, single player is tough on Veteran difficulty but enjoyable, multiplayer is as good as always with my only grief being quick scoping sniper rifle use being rampant (hence the 9). Co-Op is a worthy challenge to get 3 stars on each mission.
Happy with my purchase of the Hardened Edition and it'll get a lot more gaming time put into it.

I'll have to admit I was a little disappointed at first. Yeah, it's same thing over but why mess with perfection. Call of duty is the best multi-player game. Players don't blend into the environment like alot of games out there. You know your hitting someone with the best hit detection in a game. All round this game was worth every penny. I know it has spec ops missions and survival but think about the family guy who can't play unless all the family participates. I have to say that i was skeptical after playing b.ops that this would suck just as bad but i was surprised. This is where gamers and haters go they're separate ways. The graphics and sound just blew me away, i almost fell back in disbelief that it was mw3. Yes i have played bf and all previous cod, like i said gamers/haters. The story has me hooked, up until the mrs. asks if she can join, then it's back to spec op. Which brings me to another point, the mission are both fun and challenging if you're looking for the 3star glory, even after they have been obtained, but the survival mode is ADDICTIVE. All it's lacking is 4 player capability. On line a shooter is a shooter, but as i said before, wars aren't just fought by ground troops, and you should be able to hide in the bushes not just beside them. This is just a sum of what i feel, but remember a game is the result of tons of hours and frustration that culminate in a work of art that should be admired as such. The multiplayer in this game feels way more balanced. Camping is hardly an option because there are usually two or three ways to access an area and noob tubes are less powerful. Here's the real deal, if you've played call of Duty MW2, you've pretty much played MW3. That being said, that's not a bad thing. It restores a lot of the tried and true you may have felt was missing from Black Ops (I did not enjoy Black Ops), and ramps up on a lot of interesting small innovative changes. Strike Packages were a brilliant split, being able to assign specific killstreaks for specific builds is everything I ever wanted, and the expansion of weapons, equipment and the like is fantastic. The only thing I'm dissapointed by is the continuation of Extreme Conditioning over Marathon, but I digress.

It may not change the FPS genre or be a game changer, but it builds on what already works and is satisfying to a great degree.

Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

Modern Warfare 3, while still an excellent thrill ride in its own right, feels far too similar to MW2 or even Black Ops for my taste.
  3. I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
