It's worth noting that this game has a single-player campaign, which many of the reviews bombing it don't seem to take into consideration. If you're interested in only the multi-player modes, then yeah, you'll probably be a bit disappointed. Still, MW3 may not reinvent the wheel, but it's far from a bad game.

With the new Survival mode you are pit against some incredible competition to overcome. Multiplayer is the bread and butter of the franchise and yet again goes straight to the top of FPS gaming. Improving in ways I would not have imagined and adding the exclusive Elite stats tracking and improvement hub has made this my "Go To" experience for all FPS playable games for some time to come. Whether you are a weekend warrior or game each and every night. you will have hours on end of excitement with this latest iteration of Call of Duty. Personally I would give the game 6 stars out of 5 if I were able. Thank you Activision, Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer, and all of the rest of you who brought us such a terrific game.

Killstreaks and weapon levels are a good innovation that bring a new feeling to the series! What if it looks a lot like Modern Warfare 2? After all it is its sequel and which COD doesn't look like the one before it? Still, Modern Warfare 2 was an excellent game and I think no one can disagree. So I'm giving Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 a 10 out of 10. Perfect! After all, haters gonna hate.

Those implying that this is a map pack, might want to take a closer look at 16 all-new maps, a load of brand new guns to the series, loads of brand new perks, the brilliant new kill streak packages that I think are a great addition to the series, and the two new game modes. A map pack? I think not. while sure enough the game looks the same, why does this bother people? FIFA and NHL look the same every year. Get over it and enjoy the game. As for on-line stability, there are a couple of OP guns (Type 95 mainly) but nothing to put people off. If you are a fan of the series, DEFINITELY buy this. If not, go back to your games and leave us alone. Also, I am not a "fan-boy", I also own BF3 and would definitely say it is equal to this in its own fashion, but simply isn't as fun. Expand

This game is an incredible addition to the series, and I don't understand half of all the hate this game is receiving. People complain about how the game appears to be a "MW2 map pack" or a refurbished version of that game, but this rings true for many sequels and MW3 shouldn't be the only game chastised for this. A few recent titles that come to mind are Gears of War 3, Battlefield 3, andThis game is an incredible addition to the series, and I don't understand half of all the hate this game is receiving. People complain about how the game appears to be a "MW2 map pack" or a refurbished version of that game, but this rings true for many sequels and MW3 shouldn't be the only game chastised for this. A few recent titles that come to mind are Gears of War 3, Battlefield 3, and Uncharted 3, all of which were great games in their own right, but brought very few innovations to the single player / multi player experience where as MW3 has brought a myriad of new ideas to the multi player experience.

If you consider the addition of the strike packages to the kill streak system, not to mention the new kill steaks themselves brings a new dynamic challenge to the multi player experience. The support package allows for more tactical and team based game play, a fix to a common complain that the call of duty series was simply an "arcade run and gun shooter". New multi player game modes such as kill confirmed also support the new team based play styles the franchise is supporting. Horde mode has been introducted to the series, and while it lacks the 4 player experience other titles have had, it is a good first attempt for the series. A big problem is that many people consider the treyarch and infinity ward / sledgehammer games versions of Call of duty to be synonymous, where as veterans of the series can attest that this is not the case. The new additions to MW3 may have existed in Black Ops, but it is new to this franchise and thus worth noting. Split screen multi player is another new addition that makes LAN parties with your friends a much easier experience. While the wager matches have been moved to strictly private match and LAN parties, they have added new modes such as Juggernaught which adds a new dynamic to this experience as well. Last but not least the returning mode of Spec Ops has been revamped and improved upon. The campaign provides the same sort of evocative and emotional storytelling and game play that many modern shooters lack and skip over, and provides an adequate conclusion to the epic story that began back in 2007. Overall Modern Warfare 3 is a superb shooter overall, and provides more innovations to the experience than the last Call of Duty installation Black Ops. This game does not deserve all the hatred it receives, and this reader suspects it is perpetrated mostly by internet trolls and active members of the Battlefield 3 community. As a final note I will leave you with this, if you don't like sequels being similar to their successful predecessors don't buy them; Modern Warfare 2 was an amazing game that broke sales records both within and outside the gaming industry, and as such the plan of improving upon an already successful game by keeping its roots and adding new innovations make sense to me.

This game not only offers a great single player experience but also now the game offers a newly revamped spec ops mode, allowing players to further expand their solo experiance in a range of tactically challenging missions or complete the tasks with a friend in co op, not only can a player complete missions this time around but also compete in a mode fairly similar to horde or a more combative zombies in the mode called survival, as you progress through the waves of continously stronger enemies fighting to survive with the limited munitions you gain from the beginning and with a skilled player can turn the fight against the hard opposition with the use of killstreaks, perks and other equipment. And finally to the prestigious online mode which is already one of the best in the market now is better, with a feel of both modern warfare 1 and 2, 3 offers a player now a larger range of gameplay through the use of the newly formed strike packages giving players the ability to use a range of different kill streaks that will help their type of player. This game also offers an huge amount of challenges giving the player a big sense of achievement when his/her screen displays the players achievements and gains titles and emblems to show offer furthermore the bigger range of camo's that can be earned also giving the player more bragging rights. simply a great conclusion to a great franchise!

The gun SOUND more realistic (especially the sniper rifles) and the power decrease of the Noob-TUBE really decreases the frustration level. The game is probably an 8.5, since the multi-player maps really kind of suck, but the addition of some good spec ops missions and survival mode really make this game massive, aside from the fairly short campaign mode. Infinity ward/Sledgehammer did a good job improving on MW2 under the circumstances of their company basically disbanding. What you get is MW2 with improved features, all the great features of Black-ops, and optimized modes for hours upon hours of gameplay. Compare to game like Uncharted 2 & 3. Uncharted 2 was a GREAT game. So was Uncharted 3. They use the same mechanics, graphics engine and really offer nothing new in gameplay, just a new updated experience. Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

Modern Warfare 3, while still an excellent thrill ride in its own right, feels far too similar to MW2 or even Black Ops for my taste.
  3. I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
