This game is not an improvement (barely so, if even) in the series. It instead gives you a worse overall package of last years game. There is no customizable reticles, no customizable emblems, no theater, and no zombie mode, instead just a two player endless enemy mode, with no real innovation that we've seen in other games, just a pathetic attempt to just have it in the game. The story is not boring, but incredibly predictable. There was no real attachment to characters. I didn't really care if "character X" died, just shrugged it off and thought nothing of it. The characters portrayed a poor reaction as well. Forgetting what happened seconds ago, as if nothing happened. Overall, I would say if you are really contemplating on buying this or not, I would say pass. Maybe wait for next years game because there is nothing new we haven't seen here before. Expand

The reason that I am skipping it is simply because I am getting tired of paying $60 for essentially a map-pack and a weapons add-on. I was one of the people who was going to get this game until I saw the list of changes and it failed to impress me. I bought BF3 on the day that it came out and I got hooked. I didn't get hooked because it was a total departure from CoD but because it gave me an opportunity to experience a more immersive game-play style. I don't ever recall having to have to worry about my position within the map in terms of sun-light/shadow but it plays a huge part in BF3 and causes me to slow-down and think. I have also found out that just because I'm hiding behind a wall, it doesn't mean that this wall will forever keep me hidden. (Thanks to the ability of someone taking out that wall and me along with it!)

The evolution of video games has been a lot about player immersion, which is why the original COD and COD4 was so successful to begin with. They were both very innovative games and that is what has made them into the juggernaut that they are today. Based on all my research however; MW3 fails to move the series forward and instead is sticking to it's tried and true formula, which at this point is just disheartening. This year my money is with EA.

I am giving this game a 0 simply because it's what it's earned in my book and also because it's the amount of money that Activision will be getting from me this year.

    Thank you for reading.

A great game, only if you haven't played to the others in the row. I give this game a 0 for the lame 'professional' reviewers who do NOT review the game but have an affair with Activision. A Shame!... In itself, the game could reach a good score... 7.5/10 for the multiplayers and 4.5/10 for the single player.

I liked the first Modern-Warfare. MW2 used the same formula and started to the get boring. But MW3 is the game that Call of Duty series is so overrated, it's 60 bucks MW2 DLC, a copy paste of the same game over and over again. The multi-player is unbalanced and frustating, the single is short (again).

This fame is more of the same awful gameplay. It's glitchy, frustrating, graphically bad (it's technically alright, but the art direction is the same dull, bland feel) and it does NOTHING NEW. It's also horribly overrated and is a magnet for 12 year old kids to bunk off school.

I literally can't believe the sheep idealogic of gamers these days. I can NOT believe that people are so willing to pay money hand over fist for the same game every year. E-V-E-R-Y Y-E-A-R!

Let's start off with the obvious. This game costs £10 more than the RRP of games in the UK (£40) why? Because they can.

This game forced Microsoft to bump the price of Xbox Live (terrible service anyway, it should be free) and then Activision takes all that extra money. Why? Because they can.

This game will have at least 4 batches of Multiplayer DLC which cost a quarter of the games price each time, so now Activision have you strung so hard you pay for the game TWICE for content that any half-competent modding team could churn out in a fortnight - from a bedroom.

In addition to all those extra charges, they've decided to release Call of Duty Elite. And because their fan base are such epic retards, they'll see 'Elite' and go "Hey! I want to be elite!" and buy it, all it is is a stat-tracking system and it gives you a reduction on the DLC cost and probably some extra **** in game. **** doo. That's absolutely no reason to charge £35 / $50 other than to gip off the fans which they are absolutely excellent at.

Now lets look at the game. For a start, it's had way less than 2 years development time. This is NOT ACCEPTABLE for a game that makes waves as big as COD makes. Do some math, IF the game sells 30,000,000 copies, and of the $70 that the game costs, $25 of that goes to the developers, then they are making $750,000,000 bi-yearly on the game, not forgetting that the COD-train keeps rolling each year picking up more idiots as it goes, so each year it seems to make more money.

So 750 Million dollars straight to developers, and they do nothing with it. Proof? Look at the **** assets in the game. More than half of them are ripped straight from COD4 / MW2 / Black Ops. This is atrocious video game design, developers should be striving to re-make assets, make them better, not just re-texture (or in most cases, straight export - import) and call it a day.

So they have all these assets, all the work they need to do is - Work out the basic plot and conclusion (which is completely lacklustre)

Create a 4-5 hour long campaign, that requires map making, but half your assets are already here so basically it's like creating a map in the CryEngine 2 Sandbox creator - piece of absolute piss. Shouldn't take long.

    Record the voice acting

They DON'T really need to code anything new, seeing as it's just new maps, skins and dialogues.

That's campaign out the way, for Multiplayer, just make some new maps, doesn't take long, add some new weapons / attachments in, again, doesn't take long, and then job done.

How they can justify that this game is worth the price is utterly baffling. Just, completely and utterly baffling. Considering they knocked it out so quickly, Activision are onto a winner here. And I can assure you they are laughing all the way to the bank with this. "I can't believe these idiots are buying the same **** year after year!"

Look out for the next COD game in 2012, made by Treyarch. I guarantee you, I would willingly bet my life and my families lives that it will be Black Ops 1.5 - Just new ham-handled 4 hour story, more maps and a small assortment of new weapons.

Do yourselves a favour and buy Battlefield 3. Really, BF 2 came out in 2005 and this is just a tremendous leap for gaming, and DICE truly deserve the praise.

What the **** is going on with reviewers? They're handing out above 9 scores like it's Candy on Halloween. One reviewer is quoted as saying "The Spec-Ops mode is worth the price of admission alone"

let's break that down, the few hour co-op mode is worth the $70 it costs for the game.

Somebody forbid that site from reviewing games ever again as it's clear they don't have the first clue what they're talking about.

Get BF3. Get a game that took longer than a year to develop. Get a game where the developers don't take years to fix bugs that then appear in the following games (Care package glitch, anyone?) Get a game with some heart in it.

I grew up in the 80's and I used to love Police Academy movies, then they released Police Academy 4 - Citizens on Patrol, which tried a bit too hard, but was still entertaining. As a stand alone product, it would have probably been taken much better, but us fans were hoping for a lot more. After that, there was absolutely no point to those movies, except to make money.

BLOPS was a lot like police academy 4 - the start of on the fence, derivative, 'lets do this for the money' kind of stuff. Even if the COD series hadn't been to vietnam before, others had (many years before) and they'd done it better. And now we have MW3. Which, is entertaining for sure. A solid COD game. And its always nice to get new maps for multipalyer. And if MW3 had only been the 5th game in the series and the year had been 2009, then I'm sure it would have been considered one of the greatest FPS's of all time. But its not. Its been 2 years since MW2 and we the same thing with slightly different environments and new singleplayer. Imagine if Apple re-released the i-phone 3 in 2011 with 2 new case colours...

I've got enough COD games in my closet andd on't get me wrong, I love dusting them off occasionally, but this game is the 7th in the series and it brings nothing. In my opinion, its time for the series to die.

More campers than ever with a lot of 12 year old kids, way too easy to spawn kill, overpowered weapons etc. I could go on for a whole essay if I would have the energy to. There are a lot of glitches also, of course the game was just released but these are simple, easy glitches that should have been noticed instantly during the beta tests. The maps are all recycled with the same looks as earlier maps, nothing new. There's only one way to say this: it's a pile of rehashed crap.

The 'changes' to multiplayer amount to a small title update, consisting of features other games have done before and done better. None of the maps are notable and, were there to be a "10 greatest MW maps of all time" list, I can't see any of them being on it. The overall feel is that this once-great series has come and gone.

The campaign is also more of the same, only while this was reasonably impressive back when CoD 4 was released, now it simply feels dated and boring, with the ending two missions being especially underwhelming.

The new teams that they brought in were Sledgehammer and Raven, neither of them had made an extremely successful FPS before and for being completely new developers to the franchise they did nothing new. They took MW 2 added some new maps a few new killstreaks and called it MW 3. This was just Activision's way to milk more money out of the COD franchise, IW had almost no part in this, the love that they put into MW 2 that made it fun is completely gone, MW 3 was stale before it even came out of the box.

A subscription plan? That's not really new, battlelog offers the same features for free, and this is nothing but a cash grab aimed at zealous CoD fans who are unable to see anything else but this pathetic excuse of game, and Activision knows they can do this to fund their product that is in decline, as it's possible the last resort for it to stay alive.

The production values of this title are an aberration for what video games truly stand for - an Art form. Call of duty is no longer an art, it's merely a shovelware, or something more reminiscent of an yearly sports game; rehashed content, with little or no values or effort put into it. A quick cash grab.

The majority of it's fanbase put the community of gamers to shame; they are mostly close-minded and patriotic - Zealous should i say, about the game. There isn't really anything special about it and they can't see beyond that.

  3. I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
