If you have Modern Warfare 2 don't waste your money on this game. It is the same exact game with a different campaign. There is nothing Innovative about this game it is seriously Call of Duty MW2. Stop giving the developers 60 dollars for the same game.

What a fantastic game! Forget the negativity, it deserves so much more. Fair enough it looks similar to previous games, but so what, that's the nature of this business, building on the good stuff, and making it better! The game is a dream to play with loads of great new features and modes. Absolutely brilliant!!

This is another great installment of COD, better graphics, new maps, fun new kill streak rewards and new co-op game play. There is more new here than people seem to realize. The only knock is the single player mode which has never been great for this series. Overall, the game is good fun.

I was expecting a game to entertain me my kids. I got what I paid for. The campaign is like being in a 10 to 12 hour long block buster movie. I'm not a big online player so I appreciate the survival mode where I can sharpen my skills without dieing every ten seconds.

C'est un jeux génia! Le mode solo suit complètement mw1 et 2
Le spec ops est aussi très complet Mais surtout le multi est génial (je ne met pas la note de 10 car je trouve que les nouvelles maps sont moins charmante que mw2)

More of the same... Those who control the release of CoD should stop selling these games for full price and should sell them as an expansion pack because that is what it is. This is not worth the $60 they ask you to pay...

Nothing new to this game. I feel like each map has something in common with maps i have played before. It feels like modern warfare was put in a blender and this is what was served.

There is a clear case of "fanboyism" that allows this franchise to continue to perform as well as it does and that is simply because fans of the series don't care about innovation, individualism or any other aspect of game design, they simply want to shoot loud guns and see gruesome kills. Call of Duty's publishers should be ashamed that they are clearly only interested in milking franchises for as much money as they could possible get from consumers. However the blame clearly lies in the consumers and the fact that some people are willing to lay down hard earned dollars on the counter for the same game recycled again and again. I for one am done with Call of Duty and will happily not be looking back. Expand

I'm pretty happy with this game. In all honesty, I would probably rate it a 7.5 / 8, but because there are so many idiots on here giving a decent game a zero rating, I'm adding a couple points to make up for it. Granted, there are a few things that could be fixed, but I'm not sure where all these zero ratings are coming from. People keep saying it's just a mild update of MW2, but I just played MW2 last week and this one is significantly better. It's only slightly better than Black Ops -- which I didn't like as much as MW2 when it first came out, but ended up playing more than any other COD. The best part about this game is that it's smooth... if you like to move around a lot, it's easy to stay focused without everything being a blur. Also, the weapons are not bad at all-- it drives me nuts when all the weapons feel the same, but these have distinct personalities... you will instantly notice the difference between an M16 and AK47 (the COD games have always been pretty good at that though). And I'm loving the maps... the layout, the size, the atmosphere... it's mostly top notch (with just a little complaint, below). Connectivity and matchmaking have been very very good. It's a BIG improvement on MW2 and a slight improvement over Black Ops. Out of about 100 games, I only had a few that were "two-bar" connections. If you see that you have a two-bar connection, leave the lobby at the end of that match and join a different one... you will struggle.

So here's the bad: Maps have a lot of crap in them... stuff that ruins your flow and is easy to get stuck on. Also, if you run into a team that knows what it's doing and you just have strangers on your team... well, good luck. I'm not sure if it's just that there are a lot of people new to the COD series playing, but it seems like the gap between good players and new players is really really wide. In situations like that, if you like to play the objective like I do, then it's pretty much something you'll have to sacrifice in order to stay alive. On that point, checking lobby leaderboards to see teammate/opponent skill has become a guessing game. Black Ops had the points-per-minute stat which really told you how much of an effect someone would have on the game, but now it just lumps overall kills (which would be more helpful if we could see deaths at the same time) along with overall score and other useless facts. Headquarters is a bit more frustrating also... you won't get points for helping capture the headquarters (ok, well you get 10 or something), but only the first person there gets credit, which is just stupid. Even if I'm usually the first person there, my teammates need incentive to help me take it. Lastly, the guys that I usually play with are all hurting in the kill/death area, for some reason. A lot of 2+ k/d ratio guys are struggling to stay above 1 right now, which puzzles me. I'm the biggest rusher out of all of us, but my k/d has just stayed about the same. Perhaps that'll change... we'll see.

MW3 did away with any innovation that Blackops brought to the table. It seems all they did was to take MW2 and throw a stupid amount of killstreaks/perks/unlockables at it. The maps are again very disappointing, too tight and maze like. There is a reason why CoD4 is hailed as the best in the series, its simplicity created good gameplay, which neglected the need for silly features. I don't understand how hard it is to look at the maps that people like the most and create more like them. I think that this poor reiteration of an ageing CoD formula is the icing on the cake, people are fed up and want change. In my opinion, take a step back, don't rush to release a new CoD game purely for revenue as it is only going to hurt you in the long run. Instead, look at the feedback from the user base and ask them what they want done differently. Another option would be show us the changes, and get feedback, instead of just pushing it out on release day and hoping for the best.

Beyond bad. Maps are too small. Too much clutter on most maps. Lag is ridiculous. Animations are a joke.

I have been a COD player since COD 2 on PC, and have loved the franchise even though the complete rehash that was MW2. I hoped something would change. I was sadly mistaken.

Battlefield 3, here I come. This stale piece of **** game is the death of a franchise.

After Modern Warfare, with the release of Modern Warfare 2, i thought - Yeah that's as far as it should go - but along came Black Ops and Modern Warfare 2. And "nothing" has changed, and by nothing i mean nothing fundamental, because that, again, would be too much of a risk.

If you played Call of Duty the last years, this episode won't give you any kicks, same old formula in the campaign, same old formula in the multiplayer, same old engine, and that's getting old.

Battlefield 3 on the other hand, even through its flaws, seems much more refreshing and appealing. It doesn't bore me, because i haven't been playing Battlefield 3 for ages. But i have been Modern Warfare 3 for years now.

    No more.

Typical yearly release from Call of Duty. Same physics, same graphics and a few 'new' re-skinned guns. I seriously hope that after this blunder everyone would learn to stay away from the series since as of now, there isn't much they're adding besides a 50 dollar service which 'improves' your game.

Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

Modern Warfare 3, while still an excellent thrill ride in its own right, feels far too similar to MW2 or even Black Ops for my taste.
  3. I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
