I'm only going to say two words.

    SIMPLY AWESOME!

If you're looking for the true war, stop searching because this is it. I've never seen a multiplayer game with 64 players, everybody working in squads of four to win the battle, it's really exciting!

Ok, seriously don't even listen to anybody who gives this game a 7 or under. The campaign, if rated on a 1-10 scale, I would most likely put around 7 range. The coop is a new addition to the Battlefield franchise (unless you consider BFBC2 Onslaught mode a type of coop). There are 6 missions averaging about 20 minutes each. However, you can unlock multiplayer guns in these missions are they are extremely fun to play. The 1st is a basic defend your position against tanks and enemies using mines, javelins, m249s, etc. The 2nd is a change of pace, you're in a scout helicopter tasked to protect two ground teams from incoming forces which include tanks and infantry, one player fully pilots while the other fully guns.

Another is a sniper mission where you are tasked to rescue hostages from a very far distance with silenced guns. This mission really felt like a first person Splinter Cell, it was my favorite of the six.

Another is a mix up of everything basically. You start silently to save an informant, then you go guns blazing through Iraqi streets and you ride in Humvees.

My second favorite was the one where you have to reach the garage and your in a hotel. It's basically on the run and you destroy everything in your path.

The last one was probably the shortest. You are tasked with disarming a subway bomb and essentially you go in with gas masks and mow down guys.

The multiplayer is where Battlefield shines. No joke, this is probably the best multiplayer I have ever played in my life. I'm ruling out Battlefield 2, Counter-Strike, Team Fortress 2, Call of Duty, Halo, Killzone, Gears of War... anything. There are hundreds of unlockables which include weapons, camo (for your character), weapon addons, specializations, tank upgrades, jet upgrades, ground vehicle upgrades (besides tanks), AA gun upgrades, scout helicopter upgrades, and attack helicopter upgrades. Currently, there are 33 vehicles in the game which include all of those mentioned above. The campaign is given a 7, the coop is a 8, and the multiplayer is a 9.5.

Overall, the game is about an 8/10.

It's amazing, if you want to try a new FPS... if you love the Battlefield series... or if you want the best multiplayer experience for FPS, get this game. It's worth every penny.

While its true that the multiplayer is clearly the focus of BF3, DICE still felt the need to add a campaign to bulk out the experience, you know why? To justify the price tag. If Battlefield 3 is a multiplayer-focused game, then for **** sake, cut out the single player **** and cut the price tag, I don't want to fork out $90 (Aussie) for a game only to find out that the Multiplayer is the only component worth its salt, at least with CoD they put a reasonable amount of effort into the campaign while still producing amazing multiplayer, and then there's the other modes like Spec. Ops and Zombies.
Nonetheless, 8 is a good score, and that's because the multiplayer is amazing, but I would very much suggest waiting until the price drops to get BF3, save the big money for meaty games like Assassin's Creed Revelations, Halo: CE Anniversary and Skyrim (a thousand **** times, buy Skyrim)

Being a huge Bad Company 2 fan and one who loves DICE team objective based multiplayer, I had my worries after playing the Battlefield 3 beta. Squad connection issues, visual hiccups, falling through the game's geography, lag, lag, and more lag and sadly some of those issues are still around. Attempting to join a game as a squad is almost impossible. Someone gets dropped back to the menus, others get in but are put on opposite teams, or we all get in a game but they are completely different games. Really frustrating and an issue that was in the beta that did not get remedied. A main ingredient that makes this game great is working as a team and how are we to work as a team if we can't all be on the same one? Silly and sloppy DICE. Lag issues are still here and are still a negative but I'm a little more understanding and lenient about this. I remember in the first month of Bad Company 2 that the game was almost not playable because of horrible connection issues. Add that with me knowing that it's a rarity that a game's online experience is flawless in the first week of its launch and I'm not too stressed out about it. The lag will get fixed. Eventually. But even though I'm unhappy with some of the technical issues this game is pretty great. The multiplayer still has all the fun and great "oh my god moments" that make this franchise a treat to play. Yes. You can go prone that can be annoying especially for those who played BC2 and not used to it, but I've learned to embrace it. Little is better than being a support class, going prone, propping up my light machine gun, and putting down deadly suppressive fire as my teammates and I cap off a flag. Yes. The prone ability and lack of an informative kill cam does give snipers a leg up, but this is when communication between squad mates and spotting is key. The maps out of the box are diverse and fun. There's been some who said the maps are too big but DICE has already made them smaller to fit the 24 player console cap and I think they did a nice job making sure there's enough room to roam but compact enough to still be able to find the action. The other nice touches like being visually affected by suppressive fire, being able to disable vehicles, being able to get knifed only in the back, how the lighting system affects the gameplay, and the extensive reward system, are just some of the things that I found to be great additions. The single player is a so-so story told through flashbacks. These memories allow players to experience huge explosions and earthquakes but then will ask you to follow a pilot around and sit in a jet doing nothing but looking at plane flaps. An odd mix of excitement and boredom and something that could use a little Sweet Water or Haggard to make it worth my while. But, one should be getting this title for the multiplayer and not the single player so I'm okay. Luckily, this title can only get better and I'm excited to see DICE make the required fixes and give it that layer of polish it should have had in the first place. Sure. One could wait to buy this game to avoid the growing pains but one would miss out. The thrill and excitement of the online gameplay is well worth any glitch induced headaches. Expand

There's probably only one complaint I have for this game gameplay wise; jet campers. Maybe some of you are familiar with them. Being that there are only 12 players per team, it can get ridiculous with 6 or more players waiting for a jet. However, I have found a way to resolve this problem; bring back air superiority from Battlefield 1943 and take out jets in the regular multiplayer. That way, anyone who wants to fly a jet can simply go into air superiority and fly the jet to their hearts content. While all the players who like classic ground war style can go into regular multiplayer and not have to deal with jet campers. Other than that, the game is fairly balanced. Expand

I'm a fairly new follower to Metacritic, and I've learned that almost all user reviews have to be ignored completely. It is clear that some reviews are from fanboys (either Battlefield or COD), and some reviews are just maybe pre-teen emotions getting the best of some of the younger gamers.

The first thing that I feel needs to be cleared up is that this game and COD are not, nor should they ever be, the same game. I love both of these games, but I go to one or the other depending on what gameplay I'm looking for. Full disclosure: I've only been playing Battlefield since BFBC2, but I absolutely LOVED that game. I can honestly say that if you liked that gameplay, chances are you'll like BF3.

The singleplayer is nothing to wrie home about, but it's a decent time killer for when your looking for a break from multiplayer. The biggest let down or me was the fact that the story happens post-earthquake so none of the environments are entact...just rubble. Let me say this, though...if you're looking to get a game soley on the single player campain...PASS...it's not worth it.

I have to admit that I was somewhat disapointed with the Frostbite 2 engine. I was expecting there to be a larger number of destructable portions of the environment, but that is not a game-changer in my book. For the 360, this is one of the best looking games you'll find. The lighting and sound is fantastic. If you crank up your system, you'll feel like your right there in the action.

Some of the changes that I've noticed affect my gameplay are the alterations made to the classes. I never really used the Assault class much in BC2, but I've noticed I tend to use it (or Engineer) in BF3 due to the fact they switched the medic portion from support to assault. I thought the fact that snipers can now go prone would bother me, but it is countered by the reflection of light that gives you a heads up of where the fire is coming from.

Overall, this game is fantastic...and I HATED the beta. But here is my nota bene: If you are looking for COD style multiplayer...this game is not for you. If you're looking for a strategy based FPS that thrives on teamwork and isn't kill driven, then BF3 will scratch you right where you itch.

I would rate this game an 8.5, but I rounded to 9 because I really do feel the multiplayer is so polished it deserves more of a 9 than an 8.

But it's a step in the right direction. I have not had much time to play the campaign so I'm going to not comment on it, but let's face facts. Call of Duty is not a heavy hitter because of campaign. It's mainly multiplayer that will decide what game is played more. I'm not going to talk much about Call of Duty and from what I have played it's about average. The multiplayer feels very uninspired, I feel they have been milking the same cow from Modern Warfare. The last game I played was Modern Warfare 2, and it felt the same, but less.... fun? I was a huge fan of Modern Warfare, let me say, and I played it to death. I never bought Black Ops and have never heard any great praise for it. But this is a Battlefield review, so let's move on. When I heard about Battlefield for the first time, I was sitting in a Modern Warfare game, and my friend in the party was giving major acclaim to Battlefield Bad Company 2. I said "Meh." and moved on. After awhile I bought Bad Company 2. And I fell in love. With multiplayer. The campaign was hard to get into, but I was playing live so I didn't care. When Battlefield 3 came out, all of the signs of a fan-boy came out. But I'm not writing it like that. I know it has flaws. So my first impression while playing after the first day I had it was good. It had the Battlefield feel to it, it was very beautiful. The controls felt smooth, not as hectic and jerky as Call of Duty, but still fast paced in it's own special way. I played with my friend and we would talk and make strategy. It was a great time. But I have a beef with this game. Two of the classes are very over powered. Support and Engineer. RPGs flying around my head constantly is very annoying. And when they stand over a ammo drop, hey look.... unlimited rockets flying around. Not fun. I love the game, but sometimes I feel encumbered by reaction times. There is also way to much dead space in the maps. It works for the PC because of the ability of more players in a match, but not here. Once you get into the action though, you feel that sense of urgency. Al the lighting effects add to the feel, and it makes you feel immersed into the game. It has it's ups and downs. I love this game, but it gets on my nerves sometimes. Expand

New engine, awesome graphics, the campaign ain't that great but I did get the game for the multiplayer mostly so it doesn't really affect me. If you have friends that are down to play this game with you online and want to play tactically you're gonna have a wonderful time. Lone wolves stick to CoD. Single and multiplayer are top notch, graphics are awesome and the most important part: I'ts very fun to play. This is an honest review of Battlefield 3, as unbiased as possible.
As it is often compared to Modern Warfare 3, I will also do a brief comparison, but I will keep it as unbiased as possible, yet again.
First off, I have played a few games of each game mode in multiplayer. Conquest and Team Deathmatch stand out to me the most. Multiplayer is just fun, as long as you have a team of friends by your side and you are communicating with them. However, one of the issues is that I have not encountered a single person with their microphone on outside of my friends list.
For a game that is based on teamwork, that is an issue.
I will now dissect the game into individual categories:

    **Graphics**
Best on the market right now, out of any FPS, ever. Contrary to what many PC folks will tell you, the 360 version still looks fantastic and with amazing detail, provided you installed the texture pack. I would occasionally just stop and savor the lighting effects and reflections and things like that. Even the weather effects are top-notch, bringing you right into the game.
    GRAPHICS-5/5

    **Audio**
Yet again, the absolute best sound design you will get anywhere. With Wartapes or Hi-Fi setting on, you can hear every tiny little detail, such as rain pouring off a roof or an RPG whiz past you and even trees swaying in the wind. Plus, I just like the soundtrack anyway.
    AUDIO-5/5

    **Campaign**
For me, I absolutely loved the campaign because it reminded me a lot of a Hollywood-style explosion-fest that is just breathtaking with amazing voice acting, plot, and immersion. Speaking of immersion, this nearly had me thinking I was actually in Tehran in a hostile city at dusk, I could absolutely believe the environment DICE created. But, the AI wasn't a whole lot of fun to fight and the real meat of it was the quicktime events, which were executed flawlessly. I thoroughly enjoyed the campaign, although short, but I can tell most others won't because my tastes are very unusual.
    My rating of the campaign-4/5
    Everyone else-probably around a 3/5

    **Multiplayer**
Here is the real deal, what Battlefield really is. And it delivers. It is impossible to describe, the feeling of sprinting through a war zone, with jets gunning for you and the pings and cracks of bullets hitting the ground behind you, leaping over obstacles acrobatically, while rockets fly past you and your teammates are covering you just long enough to get into the nearest building, only to have it collapse and the desperate run to get out of the way. Almost everything about the multiplayer is top-notch, and it is an insane amount of fun most of the time but it can get frustrating when your team sucks and will not play the objective. MULTIPLAYER-4/5

The long-awaited comparison with the other major FPS of the year: how it stacks up against CoD.
There isn't exactly another way to say it, nearly everything in Battlefield is just a step up from my previous go-to franchise, it is just a higher quality game in most categories. I own a +6.08 K/D in MW3, and a .78 K/D in Battlefield 3, but somehow I still prefer Battlefield because the experience is just...epic. Sound and graphics are YEARS ahead of MW3 and the maps are filled with detail and replayability, compared to the only map I somewhat liked in MW3, Resistance.
(Keep in mind, this was my first Battlefield and I have been playing CoD since Call of Duty 2: Big Red One.)

I went into this without bias, and challenged each game to impress me more than the other. My definition of a good game was completely shattered by Battlefield.
If games were bought because of quality instead of hype, the top 3 sales list of games would be (in my opinion)
    1. Halo Reach
    2. Minecraft
    3. Battlefield 3
(I have not played Skyrim as of this review.)
There are my honest thoughts, and I expect most people to have differing opinions of my review. That is perfectly fine, because this was just how I perceived the game.

The singleplayer was only ever intended to be a tech demonstration and to judge it on that would be akin to judging Black Ops on its singleplayer, which was awful.

At the time of writing i'm gonna say not a fan of night time missions of which there have been a few as its not doing the Frostbite 2 engine justice as when you see the crumbling city in daylight, thats what its all about.

Multiplayer is as hard as ever but vehicles are very cool and the fact that you can spawn in them is even better. Very intense but again players are very hard to spot due to level of realism so can become frustrating if your not that good (like me). Never the less awesome game.

The gameplay is top notch and feels fresh compared to other shooters, with the destruction and variety of vehicles there will always be something new happening. Not to mention the ton of unlocks which WILL keep you playing for months trying to unlock everyone. Battlefield 3 has the best audio ever in a game and will scare you multiple time when a rocket whizzes past your head or a wall is blown up while you next to it, the sound will never get old and will keep you focused. The Multiplayer is obviously where Battlefield 3 game time is spent and DICE have made sure the time is a LONG time with 9 maps and 5 playable modes there is a map and a mode for you. Conquest being the classic and favourite it sure is the most hectic with jets and helicopters flying by which will be taken out within minutes by a stinger, T90-A's and Humvee's rolling down the hill which will be taken out by a javelin. No vehicle is overpowered and there is always a way to succeed. That is what Battlefield as a series is about, CHOICE. There is always another way to do something, for example if you come across a M1 Abram you could run hoping it won't pummel you with it's weaponry or you could take it out with an RPG-7 or you could take it out with an AT-mine or you could take it out with a Javelin. That is only a few ways for just that situation, there is never just one way and every way will be your little Battlefield moment. The Singleplayer in my opinion is very good and is the best war game story but because it is not the reason to buy Battlefield 3 I won't go into it much but say there are some pretty epic moments. On to the bad part there are a few glitches but they are minor to the ones in the beta, which most are gone. There are a few server issues at the moment though they will most likely be sorted out soon. This is definitely the game to get this year, it will certainly keep you glued to your T.V. for quite a while. Make sure to have some tissues on standby. Expand

I find it humorous for a company (EA) that is so set on competing with the COD franchise, that they have an online key from new purchases. That right there is going to take away so many online players for them, dumb move. Things I am frustrated with. On team deathmatch, spawning system is horendous. Couldn't tell you how many times I took one step and was blasted from some camper. So much for "random respawn." Also, the melee'ing. The singleplayer is not that great and it is comparable to COD in aspects of linearity and blockbuster type action and yet I'd say superior writing and atmosphere. CO-OP is a bit better with 6 missions that are pretty fun with a friend.

What it shines with is multiplayer. You just don't find a shooter with team orientated framework built into its design anymore with the last one I remember being Team Fortress 2, although it's not that heavy. It's balanced and skillful with deep weapon progression and long term investments in unlocking new gear and ranks. Vehicles are an important force and staple on the field, but not instant death machines and they also require some work to use properly. You can be 4 different classes and all of them have helpful items for your team and you play in squads and feel part of a unit instead of people in a map killing each other.

I love Battlefield and the unique experiences it offers in a sea of modern shooting games. You just won't find anything else like it unless you like simulators like ARMA.

I can't think of a way to finish this, but I really recommend picking it up.

The graphics are good, but it's not really a Battlefield of hell... but if your a campaign fan, don't buy this, but your average gamer; I'd buy this 60 dollar game just for the online mode.

Graphics, think of Crysis 2, only I would give BF3 the edge due too the amount of things the graphics do, you will see tree's moving with the wind, blown over by explosions, and buildings crumbling. This game only suffers due to the hype it had, I was expecting a game that pushed consoles beyond what we had seen before. Obviously they didnt deliver on that, but they did deliver a game I believe pushed it to its limits. If your an avid COD player you probably wont like this as much as COD. Is it better than COD, that depends on the player. But if you want a war game that most closely simulates real war, I dont think you will find a game that comes closer to it on the current consoles. Multiplayer wise I would say it falls between COD games and previous BF games, so it offers something to both. Myself I loved COD, and my brother loves BF games. On this games the smaller maps I love he hates and the big ones, vice versa. I havent played the campaign, but I didnt buy this game for the 1 player, I brought it for the multiplayer and so far, I have been loving it. As I said earlier, this games main downfall was the hype, if not for that I think it would have gotten alot higher scores and adulation than it is now. For hardcore COD players, wait for MW2, for everyone ones else who wants a great mulitplayer game, or the most realistic, give Battlefield 3 a try, you wont regret it. P.S. I have, historically, preferred the Call of Duty campaign and Zombies modes against Battlefield's, but I have enjoyed Battlefield's multiplayer a tremendous deal more than Call of Duty's.

Battlefield 3 is amazing. The multiplayer, as always, is as solid as a brick house. Absolutely nothing can come marginally close to its experience. The co-op is engaging, as it often requires players to actually work as a team to accomplish goals. What really surprised me, however, was the campaign. It was as awesome as any other mode on Battlefield. Battlefield 3 delivers a great story, spanning multiple environments and countless roles. The inclusion of multi-button sequences is welcomed, too. The only glitch I encountered was a problem with audio being looped (i.e. a conversation at the beginning of the mission kept replaying for me).

With that said, I scold both fanboys and haters to give the game a score based on their own biases. I personally find the Battlefield series more enjoyable, but that doesn't mean I will rule out Call of Duty. Grow up or go home.

Firstly Battlefield 2 (online FPS set in a modern time with modern weaponry) came out 2 whole years before Call of Duty 4. Second the two franchises play entirely different, especially with BF3's Frostbite 2.0 engine. The new engine truly is a game changer. The single player campaign is really the weakest part of the game. With every progression in the plot you see more and more cliched elements, these elements are done relatively well but have been done before so often the entire single player feels borrowed. The story is passable but very unremarkable with terrorists threatening to start World War 3 (sound familiar Call of Duty fans?).

The real reason to play Battlefield 3 is the Multiplayer. It is very unique in how it plays with its structure and feel. Certain aspects still feel very "Battlefield" like the weapons and the vehicles still a joy to use, and the conquest mode is back once again and is untouched in it's implementation. Another returning mode is "Rush" and was the most fun I've had in a shooter when I first played in in Bad Company 2 and is even better now with the Frostbite 2.0 engine. The maps are very well done and although they are smaller on the console versions being confined to a smaller area with guardians that kill you when you stray outside the designated area (that doesn't keep you from trying sometimes to make a run through these "out of area" routes that can sometimes give you a great vantage point for playing sniper or simply flanking an enemy or vehicle that's been mowing your comrades down.) There is also the use of parachutes in Battlefield 3, a subtle feature that can and often does create some exciting situations, be it bailing out of a disabled aircraft, the recon class can drop radio spawn points that allow your squad mates to parachute into an area deep in enemy territory, or my personal favorite... BASE JUMPING. There are instances in Rush mode where as attackers you destroy the M-Comm stations and the defenders fall back to the next level, that next level is at the bottom of a cliff and as attackers your new spawn point is at the top of this cliff, pure genius and so fun to parachute down laying fire down or spot enemies and pickup some easy spot bonuses as you sail to Terra Firma. This all is great and if I could split this review into two I would give the single player a 7 and the multiplayer an emphatic 10. Now there have been reported problems with both the single and multiplayer but I have yet to encounter any real problems. Occasional high ping here and there can cause your to jump around on the map for a second I've found (running a constant ping on my network monitoring software revealed the lags were coinciding with a single high ping but not with every high ping) but this happens so little that it's barely worth mentioning. The ability to browse servers is another welcome addition and one you don't see on console online play often, but you can find a match very quickly and easily using the quick match option, especially if you're alone, most the time it takes less than 3 seconds to hit a server and start loading the map. All in all there's very little wrong with the multiplayer while it does so many things exceptionally well. If you have the money and can't decide which FPS franchise to buy this year, by all means you should buy both, and if you are limited on funds and have to pick save up a few bucks and give this one a rent before you blindly go out and sink your $60 bucks on CoD. This game may not appeal to all types but those that it does will have an experience unlike any other in the Online FPS genre in this current generation.

I love the immersive environments where objects can be moved or destroyed, environments that closely mimmick real life. Battlefield 3 does very well here as the landscape, buildings, and objects change from heavy fire and explosions. Nobody does this better in my opinion. The game also does very well in emulating live combat. There are some scripted parts which force certain movements which I'm not quite a fan of but overall it's palatable. The graphics are very good, not perfect, but I'd trade that for great gameplay and character movement any day. Downloading the HD resolution pack is a must do, it's a big file, but it looks great. The campaign was short and sweet with a great storyline and great character voice overs. The soundtrack is amazing. The reason I bought this game however, was for the multiplayer, and I have not been let down! The multiplayer is fantastic. I wasn't a fan of Bad Company 2's multiplayer. They went back to the drawing board on this one and scored huge. I love the fact that the game ranks you in different classes with different weapons and promotes you for different achievements unlike other military games...just as a soldier would pull rank and commendations in real life...this is also something that nobody else does better. The battlelog feature is awesome. The customization of your character is bar none. They have a really feature rich control menu that allows you to have a truly unique experience should you choose to switch classes or weapons. Excellent, the best when it comes to this.

I don't have preferences between BF or COD...I just love to play a great game.

The multiplayer returns, following almost identically to Bad Company 2 in almost every facet. From the game modes, to the weapon sounds, this game does everything identical to BC2. The game does feel fresh though, upgraded with a new graphics engine and a new destruction engine. The game does impress in more than one way online, especially when it comes to the combat. The jets and tanks make a triumphant comeback and manages to be quite balanced for the online warfare. The destruction engine holds up well online, but not close to the standard that is in the single-player. At times, the game can feel unbalanced and spotty. The destruction engine seems to work at times, and refuses to work at others. The destruction engine also causes glitches and awkward deaths following combat. The game is good and it manages to stay fresh, even though the similarities with its predecessor being obvious. Not a bad game, and I would recommend it to anyone; especially the online. I have often said to myself "Last game for now, I have things to do" and then seen a great map for the next round and forced myself to stay. An Excellent game well worth the buy. Expand

Ok its not the pc version, ok 1 player is a by the numbers campaign and co-op is a spec ops me too, but seriously the scale and quality of multiplayer put this top of my extensive pile of shooters. I've spent most of the day playing and had only 1 server blip, and so many moments that just make you smile. Props for squeezing this onto xbox. If you've got a pair and like multiplayer, come get some.

Battlefield 3 is very much a game divided. The campaign is linear and straightforward, but with several memorable highlights (the cinematic action of the jet level to the set piece brilliance of an encounter involving Russian paratroopers). For the most part though, the campaign is easily forgettable, and does little to emotionally involve you with your characters; you'll feel like you're controlling faceless automatons. Co-op, again, is split between bland action and thrilling, heart-in-mouth gameplay. The helicopter escort mission in particular can be brilliant fun with a good friend, while more corridor roaming action is most certainly not welcome, which is a shame, as that is what most of the missions consist of.

Multiplayer is another beast entirely. Diving out of the way, missing 30 mil bullets by centimeters, charging into a room and gunning down an entirely squad, parachuting in for a quiet knife kill... Battlefield 3's online creates moments effortlessly. The vehicles are integrated seamlessly into gameplay, and complement the infantry based action that makes up the majority of firefights perfectly. The maps are well-designed, with MCOM stations and flags placed in locations that are sure to result in fast paced combat. The classes are well balanced also, each thriving in a key area, but remaining versatile enough so that a team made up predominantly of a certain class is unlikely to be disadvantaged.

A thoroughly enjoyable game, spoiled by an "average" campaign, but redeemed with one of the most compelling multiplayer modes of the last few years. 8/10.

This is purely based on the variety of gameplay at your disposal, whether it be flying a jet, driving a tank or being a soldier each experience is completely different. I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys Multi-player FPS, it's a breath of fresh air! Having said that SP isn't worth your time, so don't buy just for that. And EA servers are notoriously dodgy.

Now - on to the review - My expectations were that this was going to be an upgrade over BFBC2 so I had my hopes up that this would be a bit better. Once I jumped into the game I soon realized that the developer and publisher both over delivered and under promised... I dont think they hyped this thing enough. Gameplay and Maps and Guns and Team Play are simply amazing, I found myself just literally running to areas of the map just to view it from a distance and watch the battle unfold beneath and around me. This game is TEAM oriented and if you come into it trying to play it as you would COD - where 1 person can hollywood it up - your going to get your ass handed to you. BF3 is about team work and objective oriented battle. Not going to go into alot of details as the game will stand on its own for a LONG time, much longer replay value here than MW3 will hope to have. Will just finish with this. Jets, Helicopters, Tanks, Jeeps, Bradleys, Infantry, Boats, and on and on.. Game is FANTASTIC

Best FPS to come out yet. The game play is amazing, graphics are amazing. Everything about this game has been improved and changed for the better. Its not the same old redone things like that other game...

Very solid game, refreshing to see new features in a online shooter. Vehicles are fun and classes work well. by far the best multiplayer shooter out there

This game was great. Not perfect but great. The only problems I have with the games are glitchy knifing/vaulting through windows and the terrible terrible single player.

This game is a lot of fun. Amazing levels that have had a lot of thought put into them, lots of places to hide and maneuver. Stunning visuals (Frostbite 2 Rocks). Everything you've come to know and love from the Battlefield legacy. Multiplayer is where it is at. Oh, the vehicles - from jeeps to jets, there's something for everyone.

Simply put: if you'd like a little realism and more variety in your military shooters, this is the game for you, bar none. Pros: Pretty (with the HD textures install), fully driveable tanks (complete with gunners), flyable helicopters (with gunners and passenger seats), fighter jets, anti air guns, more guns and unlocks than you can count.

Cons: Server stability was bad on launch

Cons: Server stability was bad on launch day/week, but has been ironed out. The Battlelog idea is nice, but not very well executed. Party play is broken in several ways.

    Excellent game all around.

If you're looking for a great single player campaign you're out of luck, rent BF3 or pick it up in the bargain bin. If you're looking for the best online multiplayer action then BF3 is your game hands down.

While Battlefield 3 was aiming to be the biggest name this holiday season, and while it has made strides towards knocking off Modern Warfare 3, it misses the mark. That's not to say it is a bad game, it's a very good one, but the polish and excitement that is found on the Call of Duty series feels missing here. Still, there are much worse games you could end up with this holiday season, and the competition between the two series should heat up significantly in the next few years.

This experience alone sums up what Battlefield 3 is about. It isn't a John Rambo run and gun shooter and it shouldn't really be compared to MW3 in terms of how you play it. For players to truly understand the Battlefield experience you need to embrace the teamwork by joining a squad and calling out your spotted enemies, as after all, sometimes you also need your back covered too.
