The locations are bright and luxurious. [June 2010, p.58]
  2. The main adventure is more than respectable when compared to other current games in the genre, but it's the "other" stuff that really makes this a valued product.
  3. A converted try for Ubisoft Quebec, and a safe bet for Wii owners.
  4. The gameplay is solid, the visuals are pretty and there's just something brilliantly enjoyable about making the Prince skip gracefully around well-designed levels, just like in the old days.
  5. A clearly better version than the one for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands is a nice adventure recommended for specially for kids.
  6. For veterans, the lack of full control can be off-putting, seemingly lowering the level of skill required to succeed, but if you can see past that you’ll still find something to enjoy.

At its heart, the game's mechanics have a lot of potential, and at their best remind me of puzzle-platforming greats like Klonoa. But in overestimating what the Wiimote can do, developer Ubisoft has made a game that eventually collapses under its own weight.

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands is an action-adventure video game developed by Ubisoft Quebec for the Wii.

In Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, the player wields three powers: a spirit hook, serving as a wall grip to ascend areas where there are no ledges or grips; a whirlwind pillar to elevate the player; and a protective sphere to avoid falling or getting caught in traps. These three magical powers serve in navigation sequences, during combat, and to solve puzzles. In the game, the player must combine the three powers to prevail.

The mechanic of using the pointer to create items to solve puzzles adds so much. Brought back so much I loved about the Sands of Time and made the combat more fun but I could still play this game without combat and probably like it better. Only drawback is that it is so much easier than Sands of Time. Every platform puzzle was telegraphed on what you need to do. Although I never got stuck for a while like Sands of Time. I do like that pointing will tell you if you can make a jump or not which I hated about Sands of Time when I fell to my death on what looked like a possible jump. Overall I recommend to anybody who loved Sands of Time because you might like it even better. Full Review »
