Either going crazy on your own and capturing the results on video or playing around with your friends, Boogie proves to be a surprisingly sturdy effort that will be accepted well by the masses.
-
As with most Wii games, it really glistens with more than one player. If you're willing to commit to Boogie, mind, body and sooooul, it's a goddamned blast, channeling the same enthusiastic participation we all had last year when firing up Wii Sports first time. But then it's all over too quickly, and too easily.
-
Boogie is the type of game that would make a good rental for an evening when you’re entertaining some guests who aren’t gamers.
-
Boogie suffers from repetitive gameplay.
-
It’s fun for a short season, but it won’t hold anyone’s attention for long.
-
Like SSX Blur, Boogie is another audio-visual feast with flawed gameplay.
-
The controls are sketchy and I can't understand why humming with lips press against the microphone earns a better score than actually trying to sing.
-
The separate elements of the game each work well in their own right, although we were left wondering if they would ever come together to make sense of the game as a whole.
-
The biggest problem is the lack of difficulty and subsequent lack of replayability, but while it lasts Boogie offers a pleasant distraction from the usual crop of rhythm and action games on the market.
-
Do yourself a favor, save the $60 and rent this one instead.
-
Boogie works best as a party game, if you really get into it, but with a $60 price tag, there's just not enough for me to recommend this song and dance number.
-
Boogie has its moments, but the game lacks fluidity, the karaoke lacks cool tracks and the rhythm sometimes just lacks, full stop. [Oct 2007, p.62]
-
There's fun in there for players with the patience and creativity to find it.
-
Nintendo PowerSometime during the development of EA's Boogie, it should have occured to someone that there needs to be a lot more to getting your groove on than swinging the Wii remote rhythmically in any direction. [Oct 2007, p.88]
-
Some gamers might like the mish-mash controls and poor karaoke recognition – I would wait for a sequel before dropping any cash on Boogie.
-
Games Master UKIf this is a trial run for "Boogie 2," we just hope it works better next time. [Nov 2007, p.84]
-
Boogie's gameplay mix of singing and dancing is an interesting idea, but it's poorly executed.
-
Boogie is a game that had a lot of potential which was ultimately not realized. If it gets a second shot and EA listens to the complaints, expect big things. As for this one? Only play it with friends.
-
Boogie could be fun, but it’s kind of like playing with a younger sibling. They’re not going to offer you a real challenge, and it’s going to be kind of embarrassing.
-
It’s a shame that Boogie’s gameplay falls so flat because there’s a tremendous amount of potential here.
-
Boogie is a nice looking package, but the gameplay simply doesn't stack up to the competition. Very stylish, but way too simplistic to be taken seriously.
