Gaming is about having fun. That is what Super Smash Bros. for Wii U delivers, unlike a lot of other major game releases this year, which have been major disappointments this year. Smash Wii U is a breath of fresh air, and there is so much to do that I know i'll get hundreds of hours out of the game.

Amazing game, may even be the first time a smash game gets a goty award as it is filled with content a ton of new modes and characters( 8 player smash is awesome) and stages. It is truly a next gen game.
I think everyone knew this would be hit with awesome review scores however the real test is how much it helps the wii u, and I hope it helps it a lot

Literally the best console game ever created. I can't say it's THE best game ever created, because Sakurai's other flawless masterpiece, Kid Icarus: Uprising, takes the cake. Lets start off by rebutting any complaints.
-Are people really complaining about the name? [facepalms intensify]

-The clones. Anyone who hates these are "children" who "cannot be helped" -Masahiro Sakurai. He explained that clones were once alts, but added as additional characters, with little effort, so we could have extra characters. How could anyone be salty about them? It's not like they took the slot of another character. linkamo, for example, is a helpless child. he stated that " They’ve taken away a few of the better characters (like Snake and Ice Climbers) and replaced them with 14 new characters. Except, most of those characters are minor revisions to other characters. (Seriously… “Dark Pit” couldn’t have just been a different skin of “Pit?”)" MOST of the newcomers are minor revisions? Since when is 2/14 most? What an idiot. He also thinks Snake and IC's were replaced, when, in reality, the IC's were cut for technical reasons, and Snake was removed because Konami has been a jerk to Nintendo.

-Adventure mode/replay value. "Adventure" mode is the same thing every time you play through it in Melee and Brawl. Smash4's big mode is Smash Tour, which was designed so the same events are rarely produced. So which has more replay value? A mode that is the same every time, or a mode that is never the same? The answer is obvious. Since adventure had to be cleared as everyone in Melee, it got super repetetive, just as Classic (to a lesser degree) and All-Star do. The community also hated Brawl's SSE Great Maze, so I really don't see why people wanted the story mode to return (i personally liked it, but that's just me, and a completely new mode prevents this game from feeling like Brawl 2.0)

-Brawl 2.0: This game added more to its predecessor than Brawl did, and people are calling it Brawl 2.0, but not calling Brawl Melee 2.0. What. The. Hell? Special Orders, Conquest, Smash Tour, Custom Fighters, Trophy Rush, Photo Studio, Paint, the list goes on. Brawl only added Tourney and Online mode basically. Yes, the pace is closer to Brawls, it is is undoubtedly faster. Even so, they added things like For Glory and Omega forms to appease those who don't play smash the way it was intended. (Sakurai did state that Smash was supposed to be chaotic and fun). This game is actually closer to melee in one aspect: the amount of clones (#REKT)

-Customization. People say this is a dumb mode. K. Don't use it if you don't want. However, these make Classic mode and Hard Events so much easier. Seriously. I have a Donkey Kong with Lifesteal and Auto-healing, and he is a tank. Custom specials also make clones feel unique.

-Stages: There are a lot less new ones than Brawl, but if you add he new stages from Smash 3DS, we're golden. Even so, almost all of the new stages are amazing and unique. This is most likely because of the Wii U's advanced hardware being able to make more dynamic stages. You can't look me in the eye and say Mario Circuit 8 isn't an outstanding stage.

-8 Player Smash: It's fun with friends, but if you give this game a bad score because of an optional mode, you probably dont have any. (#REKT)

-Not many unlockables: Tell me again how having most of the content from the start is a bad thing? Unlocking was always a drab to me. Just gimme my stages and character and do it quick. Most of us already unlocked everything in the 3DS version too, so doing it all AGAIN would be tedious. If you want motivation to try new things, there's still the Challenges and Events. Speaking of which, the Events are notably better than Melee's and Brawl's, and you get rewards for completing them. They're also non-linear.

-Blast Zones too high: I'm guessing that, if this is a problem, you're missing a few chromosomes. There's something called "damage ratio" in the game that you can adjust.

-Too many fire emblem characters: Eh. I can't believe people want Roy to return as DLC.

-Online lag: I rarely play online, so any issues with it are not issues to me. Invite some friends over. Oh wait. I forgot that people who give this game a low score for dumb reasons have no friends.

-Amiibo functionality: Personally, I found the amiibos to level up too fast. You can get one to level 50 with ease. The process is still enjoyable. If you think otherwise, no one's forcing you to buy an amiibo figure.

-Classic Mode: Its better. You pick who you want to fight and which kind of rewards to recieve.
    I'm out of characters.

Let's not forget this game's soundtrack, which is undoubtedly the best of any game, the stunning HD visuals, the fan requested newcomers who mostly have unique mechanics. Special orders are great. Master is a great way to earn some quick coins, and Crazy is the only reliable way to get CDs. You also get a ton of rewards at the end of Crazy Orders and Smash Tour

This game is without a doubt the best game of 2014. It doesn't happen very often that a game offers that much fun for so many different people with different skill levels and ages. This game features an Nintendo All Star cast with characters from famous video game franchises like Mario, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Yoshi, Kirby, Star Fox, Pokémon, F-Zero, Fire Emblem, Kid Icarus, Pikmin, Wii Fit, Punch-Out!!, Xenoblade chronicles, Earthbound, Wario, Duck Hunt and more. Third party characters like Sonic, Mega Man and Pac-Man will also appear. You can even play as your personal Mii. The game features 50 different playable fighters.

The game can be played in many different ways. You can invite 7 friends to your house, grab a beer and play this game together on the same screen. If you have enough compatible controllers, i can recommand you to try it because it's A LOT OF FUN. It's also a feature unique to this game.

You can also play this game online. There are two main diferent online "sections". "For fun" and "For Glory". Here you can decide wether you want to play the game casually or hardcore. Each section has a variety of different modes.

There's a lot of content in this game!

First we had “Super Smash. Bros.” Then we had “Melee.” Then it was “Brawl.” And now, it’s “4.” Or, “WiiU.” Take your pick.

Unfortunately, the lack of creativity in the title reflects a lack of creativity in the game, too. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but this is the weakest of the Smash Bros. series. In a nutshell, here’s why (with more elaboration below): 1) No new Adventure
First we had “Super Smash. Bros.” Then we had “Melee.” Then it was “Brawl.” And now, it’s “4.” Or, “WiiU.” Take your pick.

Unfortunately, the lack of creativity in the title reflects a lack of creativity in the game, too. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but this is the weakest of the Smash Bros. series.

In a nutshell, here’s why (with more elaboration below):

    1) No new Adventure Mode
    2) Old modes aren’t as fun
    3) Worst replay value of the series
    4) Way too gimmicky
    5) “Brawl 2.0” would’ve been an appropriate title

    1) First and most glaringly, there is no Adventure Mode like there has been in the past two games. The closest you get to an Adventure Mode is the “Smash Tour,” which is a super confusing game board that culminates in a regular Smash Bros. match anyway. Without that Adventure Mode, I feel like I’m meaninglessly playing the game over and over without any kind of real direction. Instead of slowly learning how characters work and unlocking players as the story goes on, the game starts with most of the characters already unlocked and you’re just supposed to play endless matchups until you get the hang of each character.

    2) As you would expect it to, Smash 4 offers most of the same game modes that its predecessors have. Except, this version has not only failed to build upon previous versions, but actually takes a step backward. Classic mode is clunky and awkward: why can’t I just go through a lineup of matches like in past versions? Adventure mode is okay (and I like the concept of fighting characters in reverse chronological order), but I still think Brawl takes the cake on this one.

    3) Saying that a Smash Bros. title has poor replay value is not what you would expect, but that’s what you get here. Part of this is because there’s no Adventure Mode. But mainly, this is because there are so many tedious events to do with each character – like home run challenge, endless smash, cruel smash, etc. – that there is no way I am going to set a record for each individual character as I have in Melee and Brawl.

    4) Throughout the game, you’re collecting these power-ups that are supposed to power-up your “create your own” character. The problem is, I have no interest in creating a character and having them get powered up. This is Smash Bros., not an RPG. Unless I’m playing an Adventure Mode (and not against other people), I want an even match every time. The thought that some obsessive player is currently focusing on powering up his character, and can someday play against me and have a huge advantage because of all the equipment they’ve found, is a very disheartening one. I feel that too much time was spent on gimmicks like these and not enough was spent on actual gameplay.

    5) The worst part about this game is that it’s basically another “Brawl” and not much else. They’ve taken away a few of the better characters (like Snake and Ice Climbers) and replaced them with 14 new characters. Except, most of those characters are minor revisions to other characters. (Seriously… “Dark Pit” couldn’t have just been a different skin of “Pit?”) Of all the new characters, I was only excited about 5 of them.

The levels are perhaps the most disappointing part of this game. 21 of these game’s levels are identical versions of past games. Listen, everyone likes retro and to see new versions of old levels re-appear, but this shouldn’t be the emphasis. There are only 25 new levels, and keeping in mind that “new” often just means a platform with a new background. I would say there’s only about a dozen truly “new” levels being offered here.

That’s not to say there wasn’t effort put into the game. The game is polished and doesn’t lag (unless you’re online), and the 8-player smash option is a great improvement. I am very pleased with the additions of Pac-Man, Mega Man, Little Mac, Duck Hunt, and the bosses that appear on some stages. Also, the Event Mode seems to be the best of the all the Smashes so far.

Otherwise though, I just feel like all the effort was put into the wrong places. Here I am, on Day 2 of owning this game, and I’ve already lost interest in playing it much more because I’ve already unlocked all the characters and have just a couple stages left to unlock.

So, go ahead and click “this review wasn’t helpful," but I am thoroughly disappointed with this title. I plan to return to Hyrule Warriors as soon as the new DLC is released this coming week, and maybe even sooner.

For Glory: Characters are much better balanced than Brawl. Still not Melee-level, but very good for Wii U.

Graphics: Amazing for a 2011-console. Frames work great. Minimum bugs.

In my opinion, a great job from Sakurai, because it is not that easy to keep creating new characters and game modes. This might have been the last Smash.

No adventure mode really? But it's a great game in all other aspects, the roster is huge, the stages are great, and the online and stage builder is a lot better then Brawl's. And there's a TON of content and extra modes to keep you busy for years. Easily the best game on the Wii U so far but could of been a little better.

Picked this title up last night and boy is it fun. I know a game is a hit when we send our 6 year old daughter to sleep and me and the old lady sneak back out and play all the coop content. There is a lot to do in the game and it takes the solid gameplay and gives it different arenas to fight in.

9/10 It are good, You buy now. :p

This is just another one of those top quality games on Nintendo consoles that just oozes love. I know it's only the first day, but after a couple of hours, I could already tell that I would keep playing this game for years to come. Congratulations, Sakurai, it seems like you've produced yet another masterpiece.

Super Smash Bros. for the WiiU is just amazing.

The most amazing new feature is "8-PLAYER SMASH". Now you are able to play Smash-Bros with 8 players.

You are able to purchase a "Gamecube-Adapter" which lets you use the classic Gamecube controller.

The new All-Star Mode (Its the reverse version of the 3DS mode)lets you play through the history of Nintendo. Its super fun. After every fight you get teleported to a hub where you have 3 items to heal yourself(Just like in the boss mode in brawl)

The WiiU version has a different "Classic-Mode" than the 3DS version: The player advances based on his/her skill and defeated fighters can be used as teammates. You also have a rival during the mode. You also face bosses like Master Hand.

The 3DS version has its exclusive mode "Smash Run", but the WiiU version has an even better mode called "Smash Tour". Its hard to describe, its kind of like a mix between Smash Run and Mario Party.

A thing I really like is the Mii Fighter. You can customize his full moveset and give him different clothes/outfits.

You also have amiibos(NFC-Figures like "Skylanders") that you can train and battle against. They each cost arround 15$ and are not needed to play the game. You can also customize their moves and level them up.

In the online mode you can play "For Fun"(with items) which is a bit more casual.
Or you can play "For Glory"(No items) which is kind of competitive. It works really well. I can play with my friends from overseas and there is no lag. If you want a more stable connection, you are able to purchase a LAN-adapter for the WiiU

There is also a new mode called "Special Orders". There is "Master Order" and "Crazy Order". To play them you need to spend coins on "tickets" that you gain while playing.

And now there is a "event-mode" in which you have to fulfill missions.

Of course you can still play your Stadium games like "The Home Run contest" and "Multi Man Smash". You can even play those modes with a friend.

I might even go as far as saying, that it is the best Smash Bros game that came out. But that depends if you like the speed of the game. Its faster than Brawl but a bit slower than Melee. I think its the perfect speed.

This game is amazing. If you like fighting games/Nintendo you should get this game. 10/10.

I hope you thought that this review was helpful. Keep in mind that its my personal opinion about the game.

With the addition of 8 Player smash as well, you and lots of friends can duel it out and have tournaments.
The Roster to pick from is sizable and has a few characters you wouldn't expect, But by the time I had them all unlocked I still felt like it needed more. With the separation of Characters like Zelda/Sheik Or Samus/Zero Suit Samus it has filled out the roster a bit more then usual.
Now you can also play the slightly more traditional Single Player with Two players (Similar to Brawl). Witch is nice for a fun Co-op Experience.
All in all if you have played any Super Smash Bro's game you will have tons of fun playing this one and if you own a Wii-U or a 3DS this is a must buy and could be my GOTY for the Wii-U.

As expected, this Wii U version is a collection of superlatives: Smash never looked better, never featured so many characters, never offered so many gameplay modes, and (perhaps most importantly) was never quite as crazy as it is here.

If you’re new to the series, here’s all you need to know: Smash is about having every big Nintendo game star, as well as a few important mascots from third parties, battling it out in crazy free-for-all bouts. To sweeten the deal even more, you'll be able to grab famous items from past games (such as Mario's mushrooms, Kirby's star wand or Earthbound's Franklin badge) and use them to defeat your foes, as well as summon literally hundreds of other characters from in-game trophies and poké-balls to help you out. It's deliciously chaotic, but also features a lot of depth in its controls; so much so that a sizeable part of the fanbase is made of cutthroat tournament players, who will eschew the game's more quirky aspects (such as items and variable stage designs) in order to get a more streamlined one-on-one fighting experience.

I gotta be honest and admit that the hardcore tournament side of the franchise doesn't interest me much, so I won't be able to comment on that and still know what I'm talking about. What I do enjoy, however, is how crazy Smash can get when all you want to do is have some friends over and battle the day away. Every character has the same set of move commands, so the game is relatively easy to just pick up and play. The results of each command, however, will vary immensely from one fighter to the next, making it quite a joy to explore the 40-plus character roster.

Speaking of the roster, one of the best side aspects of Smash is how it gets every nostalgia muscle tingling. There's just something about seeing Mario and Sonic go at each other (something that would be unthinkable back in the time I started gaming). When, say, Mega Man and Donkey Kong join in, it just becomes the sort of thing that would blow the mind of young me. The game also features a host of trophies to collect, representing characters (from the usual superstars to long-forgotten sidekicks), items, and, uh, assorted inanimate objects, such as a can from Hogan's Alley. Better yet: every trophy comes with an accompanying paragraph of text explaining the origins of whatever's being represented. It's the kind of attention to detail that makes me pore over a title for more than its gameplay.

As you may know, Smash for Wii U has no shortage of modes to conquer and things to do. Aside from regular Smash battles and the trophy gallery, you have a music player with dozens of tunes from old games (even if some of them are re-arranged in unfortunate ways), a fun board-game mode, a very handy (if sometimes laggy) online mode, and more alternate ways to play than I could list here from memory. Of course, there's also amiibo integration, allowing you to summon whichever figurines you have with you to join the battle and level up accordingly. It's a cool little feature, even if it doesn't really amount to much.

Customization of characters and stages is also available, and it's one of the features that had me most excited prior to getting the game. The character creator works perfectly, allowing you to create fighters out of every Mii you have on your console, and customize each one with different moves and characteristics. The stage creator, on the other hand, was my biggest disappointment here. While it puts the gamepad to very good use, the options are very limited when it comes to actually crafting your stage, with just a few background options instead of a fully-customized editor. There are cool things you can do with it, but sadly there's no easy way to share your creations online, which further dampens its appeal.

As you can see, yes, Smash for Wii U features a nearly intimidating number of features, and it gets the vast majority of them absolutely right. Be it playing against the computer, online opponents, three other friends on your couch, or, ahem, up to seven others in eight-player battles (trust me, it's one of the most hilarious experiences you can have with any video game, ever), the game oozes the kind of wide-eyed fun that is the very reason most of us play video games in the first place. It's poised to be one of the evergreen masterpieces of this generation, and it's an absolute must-buy.

I considered it a fantastic handheld title that would sell the 3DS. The Wii U version of the game is basically the same game as the 3DS, but with a lot more extra features, and HD console graphics. So, is this the game that will sell the Wii U, or are you going to have to spend your pocket money on Nintendo's next console? Let's find out. The gameplay of this game is fantastic! It is probably the most fun you could ever have with a video game. This game is a fighting game, in which you get to play as one of over 50 different famous video game characters. The characters all come from a diverse selection of video games made by Nintendo, Sega, Capcom, and Namco (mostly Nintendo). It is also a very unique fighting game, as unlike most fighting games, this game does not rely on health bars or one on one fights. In this game, the object is to knock the opponent off the screen by building up enough damage to knock them off. Also, you can have up to 8 players fighting against each other in the same match. Most fighting games also have complicated special moves that are insanely difficult to learn. Super Smash Bros. on the other hand, made it easy by making all of the characters have the exact same button combinations for all of their moves. This makes the game that much easier to just pick up and play. On top of that, this game also has multiple game modes, each one providing unique ways to play. I can't list them all here, but I will give you a rundown of as many as I can. The main game mode in Super Smash Bros. For Wii U is Smash. This mode has everything you need if you want to have a normal battle with CPUs or friends. The next game mode is called Smash Tour, in which you compete against CPUs or friends on a giant game board. Then there's Classic Mode, which is basically this game's version of Arcade Mode, which is found in most other fighting games. Finally there is All-Star Mode, in which you have to fight every character in the game. There are also loads of collectibles to unlock as you play through the game. These collectibles can be trophies, more music, and more special moves for your character. Which reminds me, another special feature of this game is the ability to create your own fighter. You can create your own version of a preexisting fighter, or you can create your own fighter out of your Mii. This is a fantastic addition to an already fantastic game. Overall, this game's gameplay is insanely fun and enjoyable for pretty much anyone. It goes so much to the point where I would have to say that the only real problem I have with it is that in some cases, it seems too much like the previous games in the series. However, the addition of new characters, stages, character customization, and new modes such as Smash Tour take care of this problem for me. As for the graphics, the game looks every bit as fantastic as it plays. Everything in this game is rendered in HD, making the game one of the most beautiful and fun games I have ever played. This game is much more colorful than any of the previous games in the series. This game has some of the best graphics I have ever seen in a video game. As for the overall presentation, as you can probably guess, the presentation of this game is also fantastic. It runs perfectly well on the Wii U. I did notice the game froze on me once, but it only lasted for a brief second, and it never happened again. The sound design and music is also very good. The composers for this game really did a great job creating the soundtrack by remixing old Nintendo themes, and creating new themes. Overall, I would have to say that this is not only the best game on the Wii U right now, it is also the best game of the entire Super Smash Bros. series. It is very easy to just pick up and play, has beautiful graphics, and a great presentation to boot. This is a game that everyone needs to play. I recommend going out and buying this along with a Wii U right now!

These modes are fun, and rewarding, if a little uninspired. The drawback in this game is that there is no way to win Trophies, Cd's, Special Moves, and Costumes in standard Smash, and it forces you to grind in other modes that you might not like to play in. But that is just the extra stuff. What you really play Smash for is just the regular battles. The roster is huge, and my main switches constantly, because you get better and discover hidden character techniques. Ive changed from Ike to Ganon to Zero Suit Samus to Link to Sheik and have settled on Marth. Each character is so fun to figure out how to use well, that the other problems with this game are meaningless. Its unfair to expect everything perfect in this game, because even if a tenth of it is no good, it is ten times the size of other games, that its such a pointless and minute problem. Finally, I almost forgot to mention Online. It is flawless for the game, but it suffers from the online interactions that the system has, like not being able to read or even be notified when your friend sends you a message, and heck, you have to load an app just to see if your friend is online. But for just playing matches with strangers, it is flawless, assuming you have a good/strong internet connection. This is simply the most refined smash bros to date. Expand

The music is also amazing, as you get to choose what music you prefer for the stages. The stage selection this time is the best ever, if only 75m was cut, it would have been nearly perfect. The modes are also fun, with great online to boot.

The character roster is the best ever. The lack of the Ice Climbers, Lucas, and Wolf is a bit weird (DLC, maybe?) but all the others, including the newcomers are great. My favorite newcomers are Duck Hunt, Bowser Jr., Mega Man (Capcom), and Pac-Man (Namco Bandai). With new characters comes new Final Smashes and the game doesn't disappoint here either. All the Final Smashes are great despite some of them being complete clones: i.e. Toon Link and Link, Sheik and Zelda.

The stages are also a highlight with Mushroom Kingdom U, Skyloft, Orbital Gate Assault, Kalos Pokemon League, and Wuhu Island being the strongest ones. Some of the retro stages are odd choices such as Onett (why couldn't Magicant be here?) and Port Town Aero Dive (why couldn't Mute City be here?) but this is hardly a problem.

Classic and All-Star are the best they've ever been (even if All-Star Mode is better on the 3DS version) and I'm probably one of the few who believe the board game-like Smash Tour is better than Smash Run. It seems a bit more skill based than Smash Run. You have to adapt to crazy environments in this mode: explosives falling around you, Boss Galagas trying to carry you away, and Home-Run Bats hitting you everywhere!

The Event Match mode is a bit changed up here. There are various paths to choose from and there are some pretty difficult challenges to complete in these events. Speaking of challenges, they're back and are harder than ever! Thankfully, they're much more rewarding. Special Orders is a new mode in the game. They are a series of tickets that give you astounding prizes. In Crazy Orders, Crazy Hand must be fought at the end.

Trophies return as collectibles and they're as addictive to collect as ever. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who wishes he had time to read every single trophy description and admire Nintendo's history. Online isn't as laggy as it was in the 3DS version (in my experiences, at least) so that's a plus. I still wish there was something that matched you up to someone your skill level though.

Overall, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is an amazing experience and one of the best Wii U games to date! It's definitely a must-buy and you won't regret it!

Now, unlike in brawl, the online multiplayer is awesome, it runs without lag. There are two modes in online, one is "For Fun" and the other is "For Glory" for fun is for casual party game and for glory is for serious competitive matches.

This is the most fun you will ever have with a videogame.

Nintendo did a great job appealing to all audiences in this game.

Seriously Nintendo is all like "oh you don't like Smash" well then change all the rules to your liking...
"you prefer melee" Well you can use your gamecube controller and take off smash ball.
"don't like certain songs" Then turn them off the playlist.

This game is an unbalanced balance of a great game, a custom game, and a make you happy in your own special way kind of game.

Mii customizations are hilarious... Just think.. now you or your friends or heck Walter White can join the brawl.

    GREAT JOB NINTENDO!!

Look I want to go on more but I really don't want to spoil it for anyone.
Plus I'm wanting to go play more smash.

Is it worth 60 bucks? YES!! is the special edition worth 100 bucks? YOU BETTER BELIEVE ITS A YES!!!

The new game modes are awesome, adding even more replay-ability to a game that historically, almost never grows old. While not a suitable environment for competitive play, 8 player smash is hectic and fun and its addition provides farther evidence that Sakurai has been listening, and actually cares about what his fans have to say. All in all, its extremely polished gameplay, beautiful and varied stages, enourmous balanced roster, and fully featured (and stable) online play make this the best smash to date, and a must have for any wii u owner Expand

The characters are incredibly balanced, the graphics are beautiful, the soundtrack is immense, the sheer content is overwhelming. The online has little to no lag, and it definitely feels like the definitive version of smash 4.

Brawl was inarguably football field of a step backwards for the series. This game feels like Brawl 2, not Super Smash Brothers 4. Like Brawl, the combat is still sluggish, the characters are still unbalanced, but the introduction of ledge stealing ruins the combat which the series did right in Melee and 64. This being said, it is still SMASH BROS! Its fun to play with friends, and the introduction of 8 player smash is a huge step forward for the casual side of the series. Music is great, as expected, and the art style causes the game to look infinitely better than the previous games in the series. The removal of tripping is huge step forward as well. But the game still lacks hitstun, making true combos rare, and the lack of movement options is still disappointing. Chain throwing was removed entirely as well, and I can't tell if that is a good or bad thing. But again, the serious lack of skill required to win is a huge flaw. Ledge guarding is almost completely gone, which removes a huge element of smash bros that has been included since 64, and remained in Brawl. This game is going to have little to no competitive longevity, and will probably be abandoned by mid-level casuals in favor of melee soon. Great game overall, would give 7.8/10 for having too much water. Expand

The visuals are what's going to really set this apart from every smash that has come before. Not only are they bright colorful and alive but the increased detail and resolution makes seeing what's going on in the bedlam MUCH easier and fun. Each fighter looks amazing and every environment feels alive. Pretty much every Nintendo IP and beyond gets a nod here. And I was shocked at how fun even the stages and fighters that I didn't care about ended up being. I love the Wii fit training studio, the almost sedated narrator calmly asking you to perform the down dog pose while your smashing Wario's face in with the hilt of your sword is hilarious.

The amiibo support is fun. I only got to mess around with it a little bit but there is a enough going on here to keep me interested and coming back for more.

The only let down was 3DS support. I was hoping for more cross compatibility but being able to copy over your custom fighters is fun and will keep me interested. Using it was a controller does work, if you really got use to it I guess. I hope this is something that gets expanded on a little more in the future.

There is great variety in character choices, stages, and a TON of unlockable/collectible content. And of course, the multiplayer both online and offline is amazing. Games with this much polish and content are hard to come by these days and this one definitely satisfies. As per usual to the Smash Bros. series, this game appeals to both casual and hardcore gamers and does a great fan service to its players.

If I had to pick a flaw (and it's hard to find one), I would only complain about the lack of a deep single player experience like what was in Brawl. I understand their reasoning for not including one and of course, the multiplayer is by far the most important part of the game.

Smash Bros. is well-worth buying a Wii U console for if you've been waiting. There are several solid titles out but this one takes the cake. Very fine work from Nintendo and many hours of enjoyment to be had with this gem.

Well here comes the latest installment on the Smash games. I can't believe it has been a long time since it was announced back on E3 2011. Sadly it is a lackluster compared to Brawl. Brawl would had been the perfect game if Mega Man had been in it. When Mega Man was announced in the game, sadly it was such a lackluster as Snake took away his momentum. Why does Mega Man look like a midgetWell here comes the latest installment on the Smash games. Why does Mega Man look like a midget when in other games he has the right proportions on how he would look on a non-8bit representation? Snake may be gone but I miss Audi Famam Illius, Smash needed melodies like those, instead of the ones we have now, oh but we are going back to the roots thanks to obsessive Melee fans...

Still the game looks great in HD. But it needed both better music and a proper look on Mega Man. And I am giving it a perfect score in order to be able to battle the GTA V remake in even more HD, and Dragon Age which are lower games to Smash. Oh but nowadays, people want hardcore games when these people only want casual stuff to show up they are so tech savvy. I miss the days when videogames were for videogamers and not posers who just get in for fashion. Still, game of the year. But sadly Nintendo will fall.
