First off the visuals moving over to HD are nice and all the levels look beautiful and crisp, as well as the character animations, its a pleasure going into snap chat mode to look around. The combat is the best the series has seen and is very accessible to new players but allows enough depth for hardcore gamers and pros of fighters to master the system. The character roster is huge and all characters are so well done, balanced and unique that switching between multiple characters, even ones you don't use often is fun. Also 8 player smash is chaotic and is extremely fun to play with friends. Simply put this is the best game on any console to play when you get together with friends and i spend countless hours smashing it up with mine. The amount of content in this game is mind boggling with tons of trophies to get, soundtracks to unlock, and retro pieces of old games that you get to play. There is also a vast amount of modes, and some characters to unlock that it will keep you busy for a long time. My only gripe that disappointed me was the exclusion of an adventure or story mode like in brawl and melee that for a single player minded person like me was sad to see but none the less this is a must have Wii U game to add to your library. The next installment of the Super Smash Bros series is a solid addition. While there are no revolutionary breakthroughs, it still adds upon what was there in previous games and makes it worth the buy.

The new additions to the series are fun to play and have a unique style. Characters like Mega Man and Shulk bring new playstyles the series has never really seen, so the roster is sure to have a character or several to suit every player. A few characters like Dark Pit and Lucina are the familiar clone archetype, matching other characters almost exactly, but this is nothing new for the series and doesn't detract from the much more numerous novel additions.

Smash 4 also adds custom moves and items. The items allow players to customize their characters by increasing their attack power, defense, or speed as well as adding additional abilities. An increase in one stat necessarily means a decrease in another, however, preventing the customization ability from getting too far unbalanced. Custom moves also give players the option to change special moves to something more suiting their playstyle. While these features can add some fun variability, Smash 4 does not allow their use online with strangers, somewhat limiting their fun. If you don't have friends who also own the game or frequently play with you, you'll only get to use your custom character against computer characters.

The stage selection has a mix of the old and the new. Old favorites like Hyrule Temple and Kongo Jungle 64 make return appearances alongside a slew of brand new places. The new stages are, on average, much more... interactive than previous games' stages. There are stages that just let you be and provide footing on which to fight, but most of them want in on the action. The degree to which this is a good thing varies with the stages. Some stages, like Woolly World and Pilotwings merely switch up the ground you're standing on and can improve the gameplay by varying the terrain, but others like Mushroom Kingdom U and Orbital Gate Assault include stage hazards that are capable of KOing your character in one go. These and stage bosses can prove to be a bit much for the somewhat serious player.

To offset such dynamic stages, however, is the stage builder. It has its own unique limitations, making it different but not better than Brawl's stage builder. Careful crafters can end up making gorgeous stages that are loads of fun to play on, and the lack of ability to add stage hazards guarantees it'll be relatively peaceful.

The standard Smash mode adds 8-player smash, which is a useful addition if you have more than three friends over and don't want to take turns. Online provides both For Fun and For Glory modes of play, the former being a more casual take and the latter being more competitive. While it's fun to play with strangers, both these modes have their shortcomings. For Fun is limited to 4-player, all items on, 2 minute timed mode which isn't always to the taste of the players. For Glory forces the player into two stock, no items matches that can be played with four players or one on one. The unfortunate thing about For Glory is that it also forces players to fight on variations of Final Destination, a completely flat and featureless stage. For the most part, though, the excitement of fighting actual, thinking people outweighs the limitations of online play.

The last real multiplayer mode is Smash Tour. This mode is very hit or miss. At its most basic, it is a board game where one collects fighters and powers them up for a duel at the end. While this may sound simple, the game throws a multitude of additional effects and rules in the game that can make it far too complicated and busy for many. For others, all the extras provide some variation to an otherwise rather simple game. It does expect you to teach a lot of the rules and strategy to yourself, however, which scares away many players.

While two players can play the remaining modes, they were built with one player in mind. Target Blast replaces the target test from previous games, and while it can be enjoyable, it gets stale fast and pales in comparison to the target test, especially Melee's. On the other hand, Event Mode returns and is the most fun it's ever been. The selection is more dynamic and the challenges more difficult.

The lack of a true Adventure Mode hurts the game's single player aspect, especially coming off Brawl's much loved Subspace Emissary. And while the game's large roster only helps multiplayer, it can make All Star mode drag on a bit long. Classic Mode is similarly tedious, although they're both fun in small amounts.

All in all, Smash 4 took some steps back and many steps forward. Its single player isn't as enjoyable as previous titles, but its multiplayer is better than ever. Its "worst" aspects are only relative, and everything in the game is still quality and enjoyable. You may not be blown out of the water, but you'll still have a great time.

The controls are so smooth, that this game literally helped me get used to the oversized Wii U pad. The new characters are also very impressive. I found myself playing as the new characters much more than the original ones, considering their very useful move sets. On a side note: Shulk, Robin, and Zero Suit Samus impressed me the most. Super Smash Bros. Wii U is a clean and addicting brawler, and I have to say that it is probably one of the greatest games I've ever played. Expand

This is one of the best if not the best game on the WiiU, nothing comes close to what this game does for designing a well made fighting game and platform fighter. You can play it competitively and causally. It offers tons of content to work with a huge orchestration and soundtrack with some of the best music ever put in a video game.

It's a must buy, absolutely is.

I got Smash U launch day, and 3 days have passed and I have gotten maybe a total of 10 hours of sleep. This game is insanely addicting with its many game modes, enticing unlockables, and mindless yet extremely skillful gameplay. The Smash series is the epitome of "easy to learn, hard to master". And the extensive list of characters make you want to master them all. And I have only mastered Little Mac, Pac-Man, and Mega Man. And I still have to master 48 and still needing to play 36. Another great addition to the game was the Mii fighters, which allow you to make your Miis into playable fighters. One feature I have yet to try is the Amiibo system. Which, from my understanding, is a process where you can increase character stats and make them stronger by buying and "training" plastic figures which you scan. I have never been a fan of this system, as I feel it is a way for developers to bleed their fans of money. This has always bothered me since Skylanders came out, followed by Disney Infinity. It just seems like freemium games, yet you're still paying $60 for a game, and having to spend $10 on a figure just to play another small portion of the game. Luckily, Smash U does this in a less evil way, because the game comes with all of the characters, but you have the option to make them stronger by paying for it. But all in all, this game is amazing, fun, addictive, and gorgeous. And it is by far my favorite game of 2014 so far, and the best entry of the Smash series to date. Great job Nintendo, even though you make bad business decisions, you still manage to make amazing first party exclusives. Expand

    Gameplay 9/10:
They were smooth fluent controls with a nice touch to them. Sometimes they wouldn't be so smooth and not respond but alot of the time they didn't do that.
    Graphics: 9/10:
They look really nice and wonderful on the Wii U
    Characters and Moves 10/10:
A large range of characters with different moves and styles, some of the moves with some characters you can just button mash but most you don't do that.

    Maps 8/10:
Again, a nice range of different styled maps with just great backgrounds and platforms.

    Soundtrack 10/10:
The soundtrack is one of the best parts of the game, it's beautiful amazing with a massive range of different songs from different games by each character for example: Link, Fox, Ness, Megaman, Sonic, Pokemon (Pikachu, Charizard, etc) and of coarse Mario.

    Mini games 7/10:
There are mini games in there like trophy rush, classic and others plus the new smash tour which is also pretty fun if you want any time wasters.

    Online 5/10:
For me.... the online was not the best I have seen, alot of the time (like 95%) I would get a laggy match made game with people not close to me like hardly close (mostly Japanese people) since I live in Australia I will get hardly a non lagging match, probably the best match I got was where it was a little bit laggy and after that it was full on lagging.

Overall this game is just really awesome and it's great to play with friends and family.
Hope you enjoy more then me.

    The pros:
Pretty much everything works. You won't be worrying about any glitches, or controls that aren't responsive, or some other thing. The characters are all fleshed out, the control scheme, despite needing a small learning curve...perhaps a custom makeover to suit your needs, works very well. It makes for fast paced gameplay, and one great time with friends and family.

The music. The amount of music in this game is humongous for a game, period. I doubt you'll find as much music here in any other video game, in all honesty. And pretty much every track is good, originals and remixes alike. Stuff like Mute City, Mario Galaxy, and Final Destination's remix (ver 2) are all examples of how great the music is in this game.

Customization. You can now customize your characters to not only edit their strengths and weakness, but also add bonus effects to them. But the bonus effects tend to provide a bigger negative than positive. There's also negative bonus effect equipment, which, with a proper set up, can make any character overpowered. There's also custom special moves, meaning you can edit your character's abilities to your liking.

The character roster. It's huge, you'll have a hard time finding a favorite, as each character is unique and fun to play as...except Wii Fit Trainer.

The modes. There's a lot of single player modes here, more than your average game, and each has some new twist. Fight everyone in the game. Go through various foes till you get to the boss fight. Events mode, special orders...and much more. There's also online, meaning you can fight both anyone online, and your friends online as well.

    The cons.

A lot of this actually relates to what I just previously said.

Acquiring customs: This has got to be one of the biggest grind fests I've had to go through. There is absolutely no easy way out of this. You want them? You're gonna have to grind for them. The main problem is that customs are given to you randomly. Literally, every time you play a single player mode, every time, custom moves are handed out randomly. But that's not the main problem...duplicates are.

You see, as you play the game more and more, the chances of you getting new custom moves decreases, but instead of just not giving you as many new custom moves, they give you the same amount...but not really. You'll find that you'll have "acquired" 7 custom moves in the new Classic Mode, only to have them be what you JUST got beforehand. It's a pain, and even though I have 300 custom moves, and unlocked many characters full custom movesets...I really shouldn't have basically gotten absolutely nothing for many of my attempts.

There's also equipment. Trust me, if you don't start selling some of this stuff quick, you're gonna find yourself with easily 1,000+ of these things. Why? Because the majority of customs tends to be custom equipment. They say it's new, but in reality, it's not. It's almost always something you just got, so you're not really getting anything new, you're just getting more equipment.

This IS a problem, because people like customization...people LOVE customization. People are gonna wanna get this stuff as fast as possible, and play the game to it's fullest extent. It's disappointing that I couldn't have had a more definitive way to get this stuff. Same thing with trophies, it's random as to whether you get a new one, or not. However, Final Smash trophies are awarded to those who beat All-Star Mode (on any difficulty, seemingly).

The AI: If you have no friends or family (which I seriously doubt...but who knows), you will quickly stop playing on any mode with any semblance of difficulty, and switch to online. This is because the AI will either perfectly dodge, shield, or roll away from you constantly on levels 8-9 for cpu's. Classic Mode is where this main problem arises, both 8 and 9 have the problem.

All-Star on hard, to a similar extent, but not so much and it makes sense. There's also Classic, where items can't be turned off. You'd think the wise decision would be to go into the group where their damage racks up, and you can easily kill them. But that's not the case. They'll always get the item, because large groups are just...too chaotic at times. But not JUST because of chaos, but it's because they automatically gravitate towards them. Even in a fight, they'll start gravitating towards the thing.

    It's incredibly annoying...

    And lastly, the challenges.

I have not done these challenges. I don't plan on doing them. Many of these challenges are not challenges, but require you to do something like beat All-Star on Hard 49 times...and no one has the patience for stuff like that.

I could go more in-depth for cons and pros, but the character limit sucks. The game is fun, get it

Though this game has many references, I feel like this game lacks a theme or at least anything majorly new. The first game was all set in a child's imagination, played out by Master Hand, featuring the Nintendo characters as plush toys that would "come to life" and "duke it out". Melee introduced the characters as trophies, having a way bigger character roster, putting some adventure levels in the game, and introducing us into a new character called Crazy Hand. Brawl created a story mode which featured the theme of society controlling the actions of a creator. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U introduced... um... Smash Tour. It's so missing a theme that it doesn't even have its own creative name to distinguish itself from the other three games. People keep saying that the graphics are way better than Brawl in this game but honestly, I can't tell that much of a difference. As a matter of fact, if it wasn't for the game being in HD, this game would look exactly the same as Brawl. This game feels more like an expansion to Brawl than anything. Even the menus look identical. Despite everything I've said though, it's still a wonderful game. Anyone who sees this game should give it a try. You'll have loads of fun. Expand

It is the culmination of years and years of Nintendo's hard work to develop franchises that are appreciated, beloved, and celebrated. It does what very few (arguably no other) game can do, and that is bring together icons that define entire genres of video gaming and brings them together to fight it out in brawls that can be entirely fun, family-friendly, and care-free; or epic matches of insane depth, calculations, and frame-perfect moves that spectators can't get enough of until the announcer declares "GAME!" Super Smash Bros. for Wii U continues the legacy of Smash, with game developer Masahiro Sakurai finding a way to improve on everything he has done so far.

Smash 4 is fast, fluid, and fun. While Melee was praised for its speed and flow, it could sometimes be critiqued for its overwhelming mechanics that got in the way of the fun for the wider audience. Brawl was fluid and fun, but lacked a speed and weight to it that made Melee appeal to the competitive side of the Smash community. Smash 4 finds a way to meet in the middle, creating an engine that allows anyone to pick up the controller, play, and have fun - but also allowing Smashers to enter their lab and dissect every frame of the game until they discover the maximum potential of their fighter.

Beyond the simple "Smash" matches, there are several game modes that allow you to experience different perspectives of the world Sakurai has created. Smash Tour encourages you to try out different characters in a board-game style game, while Classic Mode makes you stick with one fighter while facing off against enemies you wouldn't normally face. As someone who plays Toon Link, I rarely deviate from my wind waking champion, but Smash Tour stretches and challenges me - giving me new appreciation for other fights. My brother often plays Wario, and while he may shift to a patronizing Mario every now and then, I often do not get the opportunity to play another character unless I dabble around in For Glory mode (more on that later). Classic Mode allows you to face off against every character of the roster in unique matches of varying stages. There are many other modes as well, from multi-man mindless melees to trophy rush! (You asked for trophies on Wii U didn't you)?

Speaking of trophies, Smash acts as a museum of not only the fighters you see in the game, but also their respective universe's allies and baddies. Each trophy has an attention to detail that makes you wish each one was real (which leads to amiibo, more on that later). You can spend hours getting lost in the Nintendo lore found within these screens, and Sakurai gives you numerous ways to view them all in their glory.

Speaking of amiibo, let me briefly discuss this neat feature that expands this masterpiece. Amiibo make their debut with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. Amiibo are Near Field Communication figurines that you can buy separately, allowing you to tap this physical toy to the Gamepad. This awakens the fighter's trophy in-game that can then be trained to a high-level artificial intelligence as a sparring partner. Outside the game, they are not movable; you can make no poses with them other than their default pose. And yet... I must have them all.

I could go on and on with the amount of content in this game. What is absolutely baffling is that all of this content does not dilute the experience of the individual modes we have grown to love through past Smash entries. As a matter of fact, each is intricately connected in a way that the game is magnified through its size, enhancing the entertainment to a new level. Separate from all of these modes is the online mode. Online you can choose to fight in For Fun or For Glory. For Fun celebrates the mayhem of items, hazards, and more with numerous brawlers causing chaos on the screen, and For Glory brings the fight down to a personal level, with no items, Final Destination formed stages, and a record-keeping system. Whether you fight for fun, glory, friends, or freedom - online mode is definitely worth your interest if you've somehow exhausted all the base-game has to offer, which leads me to my conclusion.

It will take a long time to experience all this game has to offer. To unlock every trophy, every challenge, to complete every mode, and to collect every custom move (which also takes the traditional Smash formula and flips it on its head) would take a long, long time. Once that is done, there is still glory to earn online. As I write this review I think of another mode, another innovation, another piece of charm that sets this game apart from all others out there. Buy it, try it, and enjoy everything it is. It is the game every Wii U owner should have, it is the game that should inspire non-Wii U owners to finally buy a Wii U, and it is the game that will continue to be played until the Wii U's life is done. Show me your moves!

With the new Game Cube adaptor (if you can find one), you can connect your game cube controllers for maximum control and easier play of the game.
The game follows standard Mario visuals, with crisp and scenic levels that will shock your eyes both in visual beauty and surprise.
With multiple characters to complete single player with and Amiibos to connect you'll keep playing this game over and over even if you don't have anyone to play with. If you've enjoyed a previous Smash Bros game, then you will LOVE this one.

If this game won't make you start paying attention to Nintendo again, then I don't know what will. This game is truly marvelous. And it's one of the best of all time in my opinion.

But before I talk about how amazing it is, let's take a look at presentation. The game looks absolutely beautiful. The characters take their primary colors unlike the other games where they didn't look too good, the game runs at a faster pace than Brawl(Sorry, but not Melee speed), and the game feels great for both Brawl and Melee players. Recommend it for both audiences. Another thing great about this game is the online. Almost ALL OF THE LAG IS GONE!

Not only is the presentation great, but the gameplay is even better. It feels and plays like a Smash Bros. game. You can even play with 8 Players. Yes, you can have a whole party with chips and everything all dedicated to playing Smash Bros. with friends! You can even bring your Mii into the battle and even select which class he is(i.e: Brawler, Sword Fighter, or Gunner). And even though it isn't as fast-paced as Melee, it still is fast enough to make those lovely Melee combos and enrage your opponent, Call of Duty style. The only problem I have with the gameplay is Smash Tour. More like Smash Bore. They don't give you freedom to select which character to use or even which color. You can also change a stage into an Omega mode, which makes a stage into a Final Destination form. This especially works in For Glory mode online.

In conclusion, this is my favorite Wii U game by far. Not even Xenoblade X will top this game. Heck, not even MARIO KART 8 tops this! If you're too busy playing GTA V on your PS4 and Xbox One to pay attention to Nintendo, this game is the perfect reason why you should return to your childhood.

    Definitely worth paying $60 for.

Every Smash game I've ever played I dump massive hrs into, this one is no different. This time the characters, online MP, and Amiibo integration have really really impressed me. Back in the Melee days I felt as thought you could easily master each character, Brawl gave us more variety (Snake), but Wii U has given us versatility in playing styles. You can't play Villager the same way you play Fox. It requires you figure out how to play each character. Not just smashing until you hit your opponent, plus you can even choose which controller you prefer to use, I actually have friends that do no prefer the GC controller, even some that bring their own Pro Controller. I love that about this game, I feel like each character is your own and to play as another takes a bit of exploration and discovery.

Even though online is great, having friends over to play 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, or 4v4, or straight up free for all is a blast as always. With the Omega stages giving us a variety for serious plays and crazy stages like the Pikman stage keep things fresh. Although %40 of my online games get lag, I'm pretty sure it's cuz the wife is sitting next to me watching Netflix on her iPad.... -_-

If you haven't purchased an Amiibo.... DON'T... just kidding, I recommend getting your favorites, but save yourself the trouble and DO NOT be a collector, with constant scalping and shortages, it gets out of hand unless you have $$$ to shell out, then by all means! However, if you do, you will really enjoy what they can do. You train them like you would a Pokemon/dark version of yourself. I've even had a friend bring his, then bet that his lvl 50 Amiibo could be beat mine, things like that just make the game addicting on so many levels. Even when you max the Amiibo out, it can still learn. Making constantly change your tactics.

Bottom line, if you have a Wii U this is a must have!

You know, I can honestly say that this game blew me away. It's no Melee, but it IS a really good game.

But there are reasons why this game is not my favorite. For one, those god damned CLONES. Seriously. The new characters they do add are great and have epic ideas, but perhaps a third of them just copy another already made character. Such as Lucina. God... For two, no adventure mode.

For two, no adventure mode. What had started to become a staple in the Smash Bros. Series is now eerily absent. The adventure modes in Melee and Brawl (ESPECIALLY Brawl) were near perfect, but the disappearance of it in Smash 4 is depressing.

But besides those two facts, the game is great. Like I said, it's no Melee, but it'll do and I'll certainly be playing it for a long time.

Smash Bros. games have always been the best game to play when sitting on a couch with a bunch of friends when you're out of productive things to do, and Smash Bros. Wii U is certainly no exception.

For starters, I'd like to point out that Sakurai made the smart decision to actually listen to his fans, which most of the other members of Nintendo don't seem to be doing much recently. The roster this time around was filled with fan favorites like Shulk, Little Mac, Rosalina, Mega Man, and... Wii Fit Trainer? Some characters seemed a bit strange, but overall the roster is impressive and makes for hours of fun getting to know each character's moveset. Also, Sakurai even decided to bring back "lost characters" who fans wanted back like Mewtwo, Lucas, and Roy as DLC.

Gameplaywise, the game plays much smoother than Brawl, and while it can still be played casually, it is much more competitively viable than its predecessor. Also, many unfair exploits from previous games such as ledge-hogging have been removed. In addition, it feels way more balanced than any other game in the series, with no extremely overpowered characters like Meta Knight in Brawl.

While the majority of gamers want Smash Bros. for the purpose of having fun with their friends or getting into the competitive scene, there are those few players who look forward to having fun alone with the solo modes, and that's where this game really falls short. With no adventure mode and nothing that really fills the gap, Smash Bros. Wii U isn't really all that fun to play alone for that long. Recycled modes like Home Run Contest and Multi Man Smash are welcome, but any player who played a decent amount of Melee and/or Brawl probably won't spend much time on them. The new Target Blast and Special Orders modes are decent ideas but feel tacked on, and while the new version of Classic Mode is interesting, it is only fun for so long.

While the online mode is certainly an improvement over Brawl's, it still is filled with slowdown. Nintendo clearly hasn't been putting enough work into the servers for the game, and thus, in plain terms, they suck. However, the addition of more categories like 1 on 1, etc. makes it much easier to find the right opponent(s) online.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U may have been disappointing in some areas, but overall is an extremely impressive game that every Wii U owner should have.

Also, the game only has 8 unlockable characters while it's predecessor has 16. Brawl feels more like a challenge than 4. Another complaint, Sonic's new voice is way too deep and Fox's new voice is way too nasal compared to their Brawl iterations. And unfornately, Wolf , Ice Climbers and Snake still have not returned from Brawl yet. Also one of my Smash 4 picks Shadow the Hedgehog got into the games as an assist trophy. Some of my favorite stages like Mushroomy Kingdom and Green Hill Zone return in the 3DS version. Also, the textures even though there are HD, the cartoonish art style makes them look worse than Brawl. Brawl's textures made the Wii look better and more competitive than it actually is. Overall, I just feel like this sequel is lacking a lot that Brawl had and it definitely does not convince me to buy a Wii U. Other than that, a least the sound track's good. Expand

Super Smash Bros takes everything we loved about the previous games, and makes it even more amazing, with improved visuals running at 1080p, 60fps. The detailed characters, smooth animations, and breathtaking backgrounds truly justify that the Wii U is more than just a "little kids" console. There's 53 playable characters (55 if you want to include the Mii Fighters) ranging from other game series like Fire Emblem, Pokemon, Kid Icarus, and Earthbound (Mother). Also, there's DLC characters like Ryu from Street Fighter and Mewtwo from Pokemon who are also tons of fun to play with as well. You can also purchase more arenas to fight at, as well as costumes for your Mii.

Super Smash Bros offers a lot of variety when it comes to game modes, with unlockable trophies that true Hardcore Smash Fans will spend hours upon hours attempting to collect. If you start feeling lonely, and you believe that you've trained enough with your favorite character in offline modes. You can take the fight online, and try your best against other players in both ranked, and unranked modes. But i'd highly recommend that you use a Pro Controller. Things will get intense online, and so you'll need something more durable than the GamePad. But not all is great with the online mode... sadly there's a good amount of connection issues, that could lead to extreme lag, or even being booted from a match. Its a real bummer.

Super Smash Bros offers Amiibo Support. So if you're a collector of those awesome little Amiibos, you can bring them into the fight, and train them into little bad asses.

Super Smash Bros is a fantastic game, that offers so much for its $60 price tag. If you're a Wii U owner, and you don't own Super Smash Bros.. you really are missing out on one great game.

Smash Brothers 4 is one of the greatest games I've ever played. It combines fighting with the Nintendo universe and it is a very competitive game. Its main point comes from the characters. Each character has its own unique moveset... Ok thats a lie. There are at least 6 clone characters in this game which is very annoying. That part really draws me back and so does the lack of adventure mode.

But behind all of those flaws is an amazing fighting game that is part of the best fighting game series. The online was enhanced, Link is actually upper tier, and every character is somewhat balanced.

This game has the best for a new sequela: you offer the same and more; so that means more characters, modes and stages
The only one that doesn´t like to me are the prices of its DLCs, too expensives.

The wide cast of characters is staggering, ranging from Little Mac from Punch-Out, Villager from Animal Crossing, and even Shulk from Xenoblade Chronicles! The roster is a definite win. The big new feature is online mode, which features a For Fun mode, where you have regular 4-player matches with items, and your wins and losses aren't recorded. For Glory features Final Destination type stages including 1 on 1 matches with your wins and losses recorded. While these modes can be extremely laggy, and there is no proper ranking system, online mode is definitely great. The 8-player smashes are hectic fun, but it IS easy to lose yourself in all of the chaos normally confusing one character to your own. Most other modes are great, and can steal endless hours away from beating Classic, All-Star, Target Smash, etc.
SSB4 is an amazing game, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that. There are some technical issues here and there, but it's a fantastic experience for everybody, Smash veterans and newcomers alike. I used to say that Super Mario 3D World was the best Wii U game, no longer the case.

Looks great, runs great, plays great. Has the best roster in Smash history, especially if you count DLC. Hours of fun that never gets old. Everyone's sad that this game's single player mode is laughable, but the multiplayer- the actual point of Smash- was done so well it hardly matters. Get it, you'll thank me later.

This game is spectacular. The huge amount of characters added to the game, and even better stage creation! But I'm getting ahead of myself here. Let's talk about the different aspects of the game.

A: Music/Sounds Could not be better. I am simply astounded by the amount of music that has been put into the game. You know that Legend of Zelda music that you love so much? That's in it.
This game is spectacular. The huge amount of characters added to the game, and even better stage creation! But I'm getting ahead of myself here. Let's talk about the different aspects of the game.

    A: Music/Sounds

Could not be better. I am simply astounded by the amount of music that has been put into the game. You know that Legend of Zelda music that you love so much? That's in it. You know that Super Mario Brothers theme? That's in it. Pretty much all soundtracks (Even some have been remixed) in the history of Nintendo have been added to the game. The voices of all of the characters are great, and the sounds are fluid and top-quality. The music, is perfect.

    10/10

    B: Graphics

Beautiful. The graphics could not get much better than this. I mean, it doesn't look realistic - but it isn't supposed to be! You don't need graphics to make a game like this amazing, but man - they pulled the graphics off really well. The individual scales on Bowser are visible, the threads on Mario's hat - and the stages look better than they have ever been before. Unfortunately, the graphics aren't the best in the world - the characters are fine, but some of the stages look a little outdated.

    9/10

    C: Gameplay

Beautiful. An amazing mix of Brawl and Melee. Not too floaty, not too fast. Controlling the characters are very easy, and some characters do require special techniques to work best. For example, Marth does maximum damage when you hit another character with the tip of his sword, whilst Roy does maximum damage when you hit them closer to the hilt of the blade. No matter how much you play the game, you can still get better. You can still learn. And thanks to the great Amiibo support, you can even have someone learn with you! I haven't even mentioned the monstrous amount of stages and Characters. It will probably take you over a day to try them all out properly! They really excelled at this. I can't see how they could have improved it at all.

    10/10

    D: Online

Unfortunately, they didn't do all that well with this. But of course, I have never really been much of an online gamer - so I barely touched this. There's lag during the online matches (generally because of the other person's bad connection) and the tourneys are really strange as well. You can't play as Miis or use your custom stages, but I can understand why you can't do that. But I would have really enjoyed playing as my Mii. I'm not going to get into the DLC, but let me tell you that it is amazing what they have added.

    5/10

Overall, Super Smash Brothers. for Wii U is an amazing game that can still be enjoyed for generations to come. I can't wait to see what more DLC they will add, before they have to depart. I've definitely played my fair share of the game. It has surpassed its predecessors, by a long mile. I'll always love the Super Smash Brothers Series, and I think this will always be my favourite, even after the next one comes out.

I've been waiting for this game ever since it was announced, and boy, was I not disappointed. This is recommended for anyone who loves the Smash bros series, Nintendo, fighting games, or just have a Wii U.

In this game, several Nintendo characters (along with some third party characters) from different franchises face-off in stages based on areas from games in their own series. This isn't like any normal fighting game, you must rack up their damage percentage high, then try to knock them off the edge. There's 3 modes you can play: Time, Stock, and Coins.
In time, you must try to KO as many opponents as you can. KO someone, and you get a point, get KOd yourself, and you lose a point. At the end, whoever has the most points wins. If two or more fighters have the same point, they must compete in a Sudden Death, where their damage percentage are at 300, with Bob-ombs raining down on them eventually. The winner is the last one standing.
Stock is basically "last man standing". Each characters will have a stock, which is their life, and loses one whenever they get KO. Whoever's the last one standing wins.
Coin is where you must collect as much a coin as possible before time runs out. You can get money by attacking the opponents.

The roster in this game, is huge and diverse. And is only getting more bigger and diverse via DLC. There are many characters from different Nintendo franchises you can play as. Including some veterans from past games like Mario, Link, Samus, Marth, Donkey Kong, Pikachu, Charizard, Fox, Peach, Bowser, Kirby, Meta Knight, King Dedede, Zelda & many more.. Several newcomers are added into the fray, most of which were what the fans were asking for. The newcomers include characters like Villager, Wii Fit Trainer, Rosalina & Luma, Little Mac, Greninja, Palutena, Miis, and more!
Aside from Nintendo characters, there are also some third party characters in the game. There's Sega's Sonic, Capcom's Mega Man & Ryu (Who's a DLC), Namco's Pac-Man, and the upcoming Square Enix's Cloud.

The game is mostly known for its online play. You can play with friends, or with anyone.
With anyone have two modes you can play: For Fun, and For Gory.
For Fun is for casuals. Here, all stages except Final Destination will be picked randomly, with all items enabled. You can play free for all, or team battle.
For Glory is, you guessed it, for competitive players. Here, only Final Destination variation of stages are played here, and you also have a option a 1-on-1 2-stock battle.
There's more modes in online to choose. Spectate allows you to watch other fights, and you can bet on who you think will win. They also added a Replay channel, so you can watch replays for certain characters, mode, or style. There's also online tournaments you can take part of. You can even make your own tournament.

There's a lot of trophies and music to collect, and lots of modes to play.

Overall, best game of 2014, and the best game on the Wii U so far!

With over 58 characters, 55 stages, balanced and fun gameplay, great presentation and much much more, Super smash bros for wii u is my opinion the best game in the entire series.

STORY: The story of super smash bros is more a theory than anything else. Basicly what people say is that a kid has a few toys and super smash bros is how the kid sees this toys when he plays with them.

STORY: The story of super smash bros is more a theory than anything else. Basicly what people say is that a kid has a few toys and super smash bros is how the kid sees this toys when he plays with them.

PRESENTATION: Super smash bros had never looked so good. Like always the 60 fps is smooth and this is actually the first smash game to ever been on HD 1080p and i looks sooooo good. Some of the textures may look bland at first, but when you are fighting and concentrating on your opponent and seeing the other great textures, models and effects, the semi-bland textures go unnoticed. The soundtrack is also legendary, with so many remixes, orchestra, original music and all of these from so many franchises that some one can argue that this is one of the greatest soundtracks of all time and honestly i agree. A solid presentation for an even more solid gameplay!.

GAMEPLAY: Super smash bros for wii u has not only a lot of characters and stages, but also a lot of different modes and collectables.

First we the typical smash mode where you choose a character, a stage and the you battle it out in 3 different ways. The time mode, the stock mode (the one that you should always use) and the coin mode, all of these are good ways to play with friends of the other 3 cpu's you can play against with or without items. AH! but that's not all of the cpu's you can battle against, since the wii u version has 8 player smash...pretty self explanatory.

We also have other modes like smash tour, which is basicly mario party mode. Or other more interesting like classic mode, where you are in like this board and to activate a battle you approach an enemy, you the defeat them in a, rinse and repeat with different rules every round, until you get to the fighting me section and then finally defeat master hand or master hand + crazy hand or master hand + crazy hand + master core...depending on the difficulty you choose.

All stars is also back, this is basicly arcade mode, where you fight enemies to fight the ones at the end, pretty freaking cool and also pretty freaking hard.

Other modes include event mode, where you have to complete challenges to get rewards. Master and crazy orders is a mode where you complete different challenges with different rules to get rewards and in crazy hand case, you actually fight him and if you loose, you loose a bunch of collectables.

Speaking of collectables, smash wii u has trophies that you get by buying them of playing other modes, you can use them to do some pretty cool pictures.

We also have training, multi-man smash, target blast and the home run contest to earn rewards, money, trophies, and custom moves...oh yeah i forgot about custom moves, in each mode you can have the opportunity to get customizable moves for every fighter, basicly you can make every character have any move that you want and give them equipment to increase their status and give the special abilities...a custom fighter!, if you have amiibo you can also give it custom moves and equipment.

Another fun mode is trophy rush, you put money to get more time and you spend that time eliminating boxes to get (obviously) trophies, equipment, money and custom moves, thrust me when you are going for custom moves, this mode is essential. The final modes are stage builder (self explanatory) and master pieces, the latter being a mode where you can play classic NES and SNES games, it's really cool.

The core mechanics of smash are still the same, you can jump, attack, smash attack and do special moves and to do different moves you use the analog stick in different directions, very simple and veeeeery addicting mechanics.

Overall ith great presentation, gameplay, music, mechanics, graphics, replay-value and many many many other things smash for wii u gets a 10/10. A great game and believe when i say this...i only covered only like 70% of this game, so needless to say if you have a wii u, yo should definitely pick this one up.

I PLAYED MORE THAN 800 hrs now...no joke.

This is where my mediocre issue comes in. I kinda wish that you were able to destroy the mansion and be hit by cars in 8-player mode too. I also wish that some maps weren't just restricted to the 4-player selection. Moving on, I liked the idea of an all-star mode inside of Smash, having the ability to brawl it out with every character with minimal healing! This is where my minor issue comes in, I wish that the game would tell you if you've been All-Star with that character already because I want to see every trophy for because I think it's cool. The stage builder tradition lives on, and that's exactly where my major issue comes into play. The aspect of having fun while building the stage was all removed. There's minimal springs and contraptions that you can add, I looked thorough the electronic manual, and I can't figure out the lava, and it's so difficult to build a box that people can have access to the inside without it saying, "Any area where fighters can't use as ground were deleted." This has made me now despise the stage builder, I only made one and deleted it for the achievement. Expand

This smash game is the best out there. You will not find anything better, the graphics are stunning, and the characters are actually balanced, which isn't normal for a fighting game. 8 man smash is so chaotic and fun! Buy this game! Or else

This is the game in the franchise with the better gameplay in the series. Is not fast and not slow, its perfect. The characters hoster is over the incredible level, with Sonic, Magaman, Pacman, Ryu, Cloud and Bayonetta.

There are lots of new characters as well, such as Bowser Jr., Duck Hunt, Rosalina, Villager, and more, as well as DLC characters such as Ryu and Mewtwo. The main attraction has to be the online mode. You can choose between "for fun", which has normal stages and items, and "for glory" which has the flat stages and no items. While the online mode is a HUGE improvement over Brawl's, it can get really laggy to the point where it is unplayable. However, most of the time it is fine. Another feature I like is if anyone quits the battle, they can't play online for another 15 minutes, that means nobody will drop out in the middle of a match. This game is just about perfect. It's the only reason I still have my Wii U. Do yourself a favor, spend a bit of money, and BUY THIS GAME! Expand

Un fabuloso juego, que te hace reventar de diversion si juegas junto a otras personas, pero que igual se disfruta solo; es para gente ya algo experimentada con las salidas anteriores, pero no es muy complicado y te puedes adaptar rapidamente a el

As a competitive Smash 4 player, I can say that this game is rewarding for competitive, casual, and party play. This game is packed with content - characters, stages, DLC, items, music, trophies, etc. 8-player Smash is great for parties for all levels of players. This game is packed with content - characters, stages, DLC, items, music, trophies, etc. 8-player Smash is great for parties for all levels of players. Meanwhile, the competitive aspect continues to evolve. While I don't foresee Smash 4 getting anywhere near as technical as Melee simply because of the lack of tech, there IS plenty of room for the meta to go. The sheer number of character allows the game to be focused more on matchups and opens the strategy for using multiple characters to succeed. The game may be the 2nd most balanced in the series behind Project M but does have its flaws as patches can significantly hurt characters and most of the DLC have proven to be the tops in the game, leading to the pay-to-win strategy. Personally, I lack interest in Classic and All-Star modes in this installment and found Smash Tour, the new mode to Smash 4, to be an awful attempt at a Mario Party recreation. Overall, Smash 4 is a great game for competitive and casual players alike of all ages and I believe is the best in the series. Expand
