Nov 17, 2015Freedom Planet may have started out as an attempt to recreate Sonic, but it stands on its own as a great platformer.

Nintendo Force MagazineNov 30, 2015If Sega isn't going to deliver the classic Sonic follow-up that old-school fans have been clamoring for, then at least Galaxy Trail is ready to step in. [Issue #18 – November/December 2015, p.19]

Nov 19, 2015One might feel tempted to mistake Freedom Planet for a copy of Sonic The Hedgehog but that would be tremendously unfair for this work from GalaxyTrail. Its fun and precise gameplay mechanics, along with a wide amount of content and very original levels will bring hours of 2D fun which will resonate particularly well with 16-bit platforming enthusiasts. Were the mixture between action and platforming be more balanced and the boss fights less burdensome on the player and this would become an instant landmark of indie games.

Nov 8, 2015It’s a tremendous amount of fun and a very rare example of a Sonic style game that actually works.

Oct 4, 2015If you enjoy platformers but never got into Sonic games, give this one a shot – you might find yourself pleasantly surprised.
-
Oct 1, 2015Freedom Planet provides a great mix of nostalgic aesthetics and fine-tuned platforming gameplay, resulting in a memorable indie title that should not be passed up.
