Disney, as with Activision, is going to face stiff competition from Nintendo with its Amiibo line (which taps into the same sense of nostalgic loyalty as Disney Infinity, in fact, and is a bigger threat to it than Skylanders). But Infinity 2.0 shows that the franchise is on the right track, and it might just wind up on top.

The improved upgrades, enhanced Toy Box experience and Marvel franchise make this year’s game an enticing proposition. Provided parents are willing to say “no” now and again to children’s pestering for more figures, it also offers good value on the Wii U.

Disney Infinity 2.0 offers the same gameplay as the first one, but with a few fun tweaks like flying and the skill tree. It's not perfect. The figurines stand for an expensive experience and the starter kit offers a very short Play Set.

The second version of Disney Infinity has refined half of the experience into something even better than before.

The upgrades to the Toy Box Disney stop Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition from being a completely mediocre game. However, the campaign and overall presentation leave a lot to be desired.

Collectible figurines seem like a winner but, just like your dad's Ikea cabinet, it's let down by bad assembly. [Dec 2014, p.76]

The figures for he 1.0 were just released in late 2013 and now you make 2.0 which is not backwards compatible with 1.0 in anyway. Do you expect parents to purchase an entire game console, new starter pack and figurines every year? I purchased the new 2.0 starter pack and of course it does not work at all. Game system 299, starter kit 59.99, figures 14.99. Thanks so much for your greed!!! Full Review »

It looks so promising, but so much of your time is spent fighting the controls. Turning the camera is almost as slow as the original Mario bros (it didn't turn). If that's not bad enough, the camera will also frequently attempt to turn your moving character away from the action.

The load times are also the longest of any game I've ever seen.

Assuming that they don't plan to release a 20.00 DLC package to improve your ability to turn around and speed up the load time, I suspect the problem is probably tied to the under-performing Wii-U console. I'm looking forward to seeing if another console provides a better experience.
