Disney Infinity 2.0 edition is a good time. My wife and I finished the avengers story mission in about 4 hours of game-play. The avengers cityDisney Infinity 2.0 edition is a good time. My wife and I finished the avengers story mission in about 4 hours of game-play. The avengers city is a little bigger than The Incredibles from DI1, but it has a huge vertical aspect to it. I was a little disappointed that the only interiors I could access were the specific levels in the story. "Flight" was pretty essential to my wife and I beating the game as fast as we did. It's faster than running and helped us avoid using tricky to find elevators and jump pads to reach the top of buildings. We played as Thor and Iron Man who come with the box set, but also had the other avenger's characters available at launch. The other characters had some neat abilities but without flight they slowed the game down too much.

My favorite aspect of the game was leveling up different characters because I got more than a pretty statue in the Hall of Heroes. In true RPG fashion each hero could upgrade different abilities and attacks as they leveled up. I greatly enjoyed this process and it made reaching a new level something to chase after rather than an afterthought.

The 2.0 Toy Box is a big melting pot of minecraft, the sims, and build it yourself mini games. The "my Interior" part of the game is a nostalgia sidequest extravaganza of characters like Scrooge McDuck, The Genie, and Belle having me add furniture, rooms and windows to my house full of little Disney people. If you're into Disney or House/Room customization this is a fun add on to the game.

I also had the blessing(CURSE) of the two Toybox games that came with the starter set. The Assault on Asgard was the lesser of two evils, but with my high level flying characters it wasn't very challenging. It's a basic tower defense game with the ability to lay traps down to protect Asgardian Artifacts. It didn't add in any of the toy box enemies and continued to reuse the same frost giants from The Avengers playset. "Escape from the Kyln" was an annoying overhead action series of finding loot for your minion who accompanied you through each level. These levels were easy until glitchy things made them difficult. My character would get stuck on objects, fly off the edge, or he would be obstructed by buildings, walls etc so I couldn't see who I was fighting. In two player both players share the screen but only one can control the camera (which is weird because the game handles 2 players so well in the avengers playset and in the Assault on Asgard game.) "Exploration survival mode" was a 4 hour slog of fighting enemies that increased in difficulty. As hard as this 50 level section was (no saves allowed and when a character dies they are dead) it did add interesting features. I faced bad guys from all over the Disney universe which forced me to adapt my play style significantly. I also lost Captain America around level 25 and had to complete the game with Thor. I kept wishing I could save and come back but the game doesn't let you so at 1:30am I finally had earned my trophy. This mode is not for a casual sit down, or to run through with a seven year old. It made me think of games as a kid where there were no save points, and you had to be committed to win. Somehow Disney tapped into my oldschool gaming as well as old school Disney movies and my love for super heroes all at once. (still not ready to forgive the "escape from the kyln" game).

The actual toybox is very similar to the 1.0 edition. It adds builders to the mix so you can watch the machine build cool stuff for you. Downloading levels and user created games are very hit or miss. There are plenty of toys, and if you put the toy set piece from the 1.0 toy sets on the base you immediately get all of their toys. Seriously Minecraft is a better do it yourself sandbox world builder, and if you don't have a Disney fetish this part of the game isn't going to hold your interest for too long. I made a race track, and a tree house, but eventually the game just wore out on me. My biggest grievance is that even with a full play-through of the avengers play set, beating both toy box games, and the survival mode, I still didn't have enough sparks to unlock all the toys. Maybe once I get the other toy sets I'll have enough but I'm guessing multiple playthroughs with multiple characters is going to be the answer to unlocking all the toys.

In conclusion: This game is fun and on sale for Black Friday. It ate up a good thirty hours of my time through all the game modes which was mostly enjoyable.

    + Flight Characters
    + RPG elements
+ My interior and Survival mode
+ No more spin for your toys in toy box
    - non flight characters
    - Toy box games
    - Not enough sparks to buy the toys i wanted.

2014 has been an underwhelming year for gaming. Whether it be not meeting the expectations of gamers, coming out with DLC, the constant drama2014 has been an underwhelming year for gaming. Whether it be not meeting the expectations of gamers, coming out with DLC, the constant drama in the gaming community about resolution and graphics, rehashing of old games, just adding content to previous games and putting a name on it, silly gimmicks that nobody cares about and etc. And that is where Disney Infinity comes out with yet another AVERAGE game titled, "Disney Infinity 2.0" editions. I ranted on about this game to myself and on social media enough so here we go. The playsets are five hours long each with a total of 38 rinse and repeat missions, the toy box mode is better/bigger, the roster is still laughable, (missing lots of Marvel/Disney characters) the two games modes in the starter pack are "ok" but a little fun I guess, the figures are expensive and the average side missions from the previous games, are gone. Nothing much more to say about this game is that it only attracts kids/teenagers, figure collectors, casual gamers and this generation of gamers. This game is just ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC! I hope Disney Interactive finds their way again and does better. The PC port suffers from bugs, glitches, the game kicking you out, the server resets itself when you least expect it, lag, the system performance prevents certain PC users from building worlds and etc. Overall, it's a disappointing game and DON'T expect a lot out of it. It is just another gimmick that will end up dying when the next "AVERAGE" gimmick from Disney Infinity comes out. Yay. What a WASTE of INNOVATION for a game that could have been better with a better upgrade system but instead, the upgrade system is laughable, the demanding price for such a lackluster/average game is also laughable. All and all, A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. Way to go Disney Interactive. Oh and don't be surprised if you can't get a good trade in value for the figures because YOU WON'T! Have fun with this average game. The characters are fun to play as, the game modes are ok and the toy box mode/community mode is awesome but what is the point if the game is just so....AVERAGE! I wasted $30 on both Drax and Iron Fist combined and I do have buyers remorse from it. NEVER AGAIN! I will stick to going on Ebay and looking up web codes. FYI, a lot of the reviewers that gave this game a 10,9,8 or 7 are delusional at best or our causal gamers. There is nothing note worthy of this game. And with the same middle finger opening from the first previous game, I just say that all and all, it is a HUGE WASTED POTENTIAL OF THE MARVEL LICENSE! NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY YOUR STUPID FIGURES DISNEY INTERACTIVE with a LAUGHABLE TRADE IN VALUE!!!! Oh and as far as the customer service from Disney Interactive, it is just like this game....AVERAGE.
