Why do so many people dislike this? True, it's flawed (the playset missions are repetitive), but building your own worlds is as fun as ever, the characters are awesome and the skill trees are a great addition! Bravo, Disney!

You almost ruined my kids belief in Santa. The figures for he 1.0 were just released in late 2013 and now you make 2.0 which is not backwards compatible with 1.0 in anyway. Playing this game is best described as cutting steak with a spoon. It looks so promising, but so much of your time is spent fighting the controls. If that's not bad enough, the camera will also frequently attempt to turn your moving character away from the action.

The load times are also the longest of any game I've ever seen.

Assuming that they don't plan to release a 20.00 DLC package to improve your ability to turn around and speed up the load time, I suspect the problem is probably tied to the under-performing Wii-U console. I'm looking forward to seeing if another console provides a better experience.

I'm going to admit, the first time I played this game, I didn't enjoy it. There were problems I didn't understand. However, after playing for a long time I have understood that I caused these problems, not the game. Loading times are my main problem with the game.

2014 has been an underwhelming year for gaming. Whether it be not meeting the expectations of gamers, coming out with DLC, the constant drama in the gaming community about resolution and graphics, rehashing of old games, just adding content to previous games and putting a name on it, silly gimmicks that nobody cares about and etc. And that is where Disney Infinity comes out with yet another AVERAGE game titled, "Disney Infinity 2.0" editions. I ranted on about this game to myself and on social media enough so here we go. The playsets are five hours long each with a total of 38 rinse and repeat missions, the toy box mode is better/bigger, the roster is still laughable, (missing lots of Marvel/Disney characters) the two games modes in the starter pack are "ok" but a little fun I guess, the figures are expensive and the average side missions from the previous games, are gone. Nothing much more to say about this game is that it only attracts kids/teenagers, figure collectors, casual gamers and this generation of gamers. This game is just ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC! I hope Disney Interactive finds their way again and does better. The PC port suffers from bugs, glitches, the game kicking you out, the server resets itself when you least expect it, lag, the system performance prevents certain PC users from building worlds and etc. Overall, it's a disappointing game and DON'T expect a lot out of it. It is just another gimmick that will end up dying when the next "AVERAGE" gimmick from Disney Infinity comes out. Yay. What a WASTE of INNOVATION for a game that could have been better with a better upgrade system but instead, the upgrade system is laughable, the demanding price for such a lackluster/average game is also laughable. All and all, A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. Way to go Disney Interactive. Oh and don't be surprised if you can't get a good trade in value for the figures because YOU WON'T! Have fun with this average game. The characters are fun to play as, the game modes are ok and the toy box mode/community mode is awesome but what is the point if the game is just so....AVERAGE! I wasted $30 on both Drax and Iron Fist combined and I do have buyers remorse from it. NEVER AGAIN! I will stick to going on Ebay and looking up web codes. FYI, a lot of the reviewers that gave this game a 10,9,8 or 7 are delusional at best or our causal gamers. There is nothing note worthy of this game. And with the same middle finger opening from the first previous game, I just say that all and all, it is a HUGE WASTED POTENTIAL OF THE MARVEL LICENSE! NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY YOUR STUPID FIGURES DISNEY INTERACTIVE with a LAUGHABLE TRADE IN VALUE!!!! Expand

Graphics are lacking, the camera is terrible and the character controls are off. My son got this and Skylanders for Christmas. He only wants to play Skylanders. At $35 for a toy box set I could just buy a new game. Disney missed the mark.

I really wanted to love this game, in fact I went all out and got ALL 2.0 expansion sets plus a total of about 40 1.0 and 2.0 figurines on the promise of the title, but unfortunately it failed to deliver. The quests were not exciting to keep me going, game mechanics wasn't fun, the controls were rather awkward (the driving is WORSE than that of Watch Dogs!), the Toy Box is far too difficult to play with (for a good example of a well implemented make-your-own game, see Super Mario Maker), poor compatibility of characters between 1.0 and 2.0. The WORST thing I hated about this is when the character dies, you have to wait a few minutes to respawn or replace with a new character. My kids didn't enjoy it, in fact they went back to Skylanders Swap Force which was much more fun. Alas in the end, with a heavy heart, I sold everything from my 1.0 and 2.0 collection and am now picking up on Skylanders Superchargers, and will go on from there. Expand

I’ll give this a solid 7 because it’s intended for kids. This is better than the previous game and sounds like much less of a money pit than the latest Skylanders, which is my chief concern. I’d give it a 3 on how well it will keep adults entertained.

It’s fun to play with my kids. Gameplay is still pretty ho-hum, but the skill trees are a huge addition. They don’t just give you 3-4

It’s fun to play with my kids. Gameplay is still pretty ho-hum, but the skill trees are a huge addition. They don’t just give you 3-4 options like in Skylanders, but gigantic trees which require planning and time to level up. There are also good abilities to unlock, like Hawkeye shooting five arrows at once or the Hulk doing super jumps or climbing buildings. Each Marvel character feels like they are doing things their character should be doing. They don’t all feel like copies of each other.

When you get tired of the main Avengers playset, the toybox mode is gigantic. It still suffers from memory limits, but there is an insane amount of stuff to unlock. So much that you may need to guide your kids through it. Any adult can spend hours upon hours building things, though, and there is community sharing included. Plus, you have the option to create template toybox worlds, which is very nice for children. You can make a generic city area, for example, and go crazy there with your Marvel figures, Infinity 1.0 figures, and power discs.

Speaking of generic, one of the faults of the game is still the graphics. They are bland and not very sharp. The Wii U is capable of better, as Smash Bros and Mariokart 8 prove, so it’s not a system specific problem. The devs simply didn’t put any TLC into them. This is annoying because the load times are inordinately long for what you get, but at least you only have to wait once for the toybox or playset to load. And the Avengers city, at least, doesn’t feel empty. You’ll see pedestrians, cars driving by, and there are also hidden goodies to collect. It’s not as vibrant as a GTA city or even Lego Marvel’s Manhattan, but it could be worse.

The collectables are a double-edged sword, though. One type is called “crossover coins”. These allow characters from another playset to be used with the Avengers playset. The problem is this only extends to Rocket Raccoon and Nova. Want to use Groot, Starlord, or Spider Man in the Avengers set? Too bad. I haven’t yet played the other playsets, but I’ll point out that only having one playset included for $75 is pretty lame.

Which brings me to what I think is the greatest disappointment with the Infinity series thus far: the restriction of which characters you can use in the playsets. At the very least, they should offer some option that unlocks use for all characters once you’ve beaten a playset or met some other condition. Or make the crossover coins some sort of earnable currency where you can “buy” an unlock to use whichever character you want. Why limit it to two? It’s just asinine. How cool would it be to have Mr. Incredible or Baymax fighting alongside Captain America in Manhattan? We’ll never know, I suppose. The Disney film charcters, and particularly 1.0 figures, feel especially useless. You can play with them in the toy box and that’s it. They have at least incorporated skill trees for the older characters, but they don’t have any special moves like the new ones do.

It’s widely speculated that the next version of Infinity will be centered around Star Wars characters. If so, I very much hope they fix this stupid crossover restriction by then as well as improve the graphics. Those two things alone would make the series a lot more enjoyable, even if they don’t do much with the gameplay.

Again: if you’re looking for a gift your kids will like and something you can enjoy playing with them, Infinity Marvel will work. If you’re looking something to hold your own interest, however, avoid this.

It is fun to create new words and go and have your own adventures with Disney and Marvel Characters. Infinity 2.0 shows improvement from the last game and the only complaint I have that I wish it was on a handheld. But overall it is a fun game to explore and have fun creating worlds.

Disney Infinity 2.0 isn’t an improvement, but it tries to improve by adding new franchises. The online works better then last, and even the game introduces a new home sim kind of thing it’s kind of interesting really. Also an added skill tree which is awesome. Disney, as with Activision, is going to face stiff competition from Nintendo with its Amiibo line (which taps into the same sense of nostalgic loyalty as Disney Infinity, in fact, and is a bigger threat to it than Skylanders). But Infinity 2.0 shows that the franchise is on the right track, and it might just wind up on top.

The upgrades to the Toy Box Disney stop Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition from being a completely mediocre game. However, the campaign and overall presentation leave a lot to be desired.

The improved upgrades, enhanced Toy Box experience and Marvel franchise make this year’s game an enticing proposition. Provided parents are willing to say “no” now and again to children’s pestering for more figures, it also offers good value on the Wii U.
