    This game is amazing. They have added so much to the original game, and despite being in the same general areas, it all still feels very new.

    There are a few things that aren't explained (how much time has passed from the original and spoiler kinda ****where did all the sheikah stuff go??****), despite that this is still a stunning second game.     Like most, I was shocked at the price, however after having about 10 hours of gameplay in, I would happily pay $70 for it again.

    BOTW was my favorite video game of all time, and now this may take the cake. The game is much more challenging right off the bat, and the way you approach certain enemies requires more thought than before. TOTK feels like an OG Zelda game, thanks to the added challenge which gives an ongoing puzzle feel, plus everything we all loved about BOTW.    … Expand

    I think totk as its own is a good game, because it plays with a lot of interesting concepts. But its not really fun to explore new things, because i have seen 99 % of the overworld map and characters before. In the story you have to go to the same regions and prevent some sort of danger, which i have already done in botw.     A pretty solid game compared to what the industry standard has become but is let down mostly by the switch itself and a few design issues.

    I was honestly getting lost in the world as I jumped from tower to tower and island to island before I plunged into the terrifying depths, immersing myself in this world as I tried to explore areas I was unprepared for.     I was honestly getting lost in the world as I jumped from tower to tower and island to island before I plunged into the terrifying depths, immersing myself in this world as I tried to explore areas I was unprepared for. It's honestly a rush to poke your head over the horizon and see what's around the corner, that is until you have to start engaging yourself with the other systems and mechanics of the game.

    The controls are clunky and annoying to navigate with nintendo's insistence that it does it's own thing while the rest of the industry has tried to make things more universal for everyone. The weapon mechanic while novel and fun at the beginning becomes more and more tedious as you try to juggle the variety of different enemies in the world without wasting rare resources on low leveled enemies or finding you don't have enough high leveled weapons to fight an unexpectedly high leveled enemy.

    The world is boring to explore once you've seen it all, for the most part the world looks no better than pokemon scarlet and violet apart from the few assets where the designers put all their time into like the floating islands, towns and ruins. Everywhere else looks as dated as the old ghost recon game from the early 2000's.

    My main gripe with the game is the annoying amount of back tracking, fast travel, loading screens, and horse riding. It wouldn't be so bad if the world was interesting and fun to look at and explore but the PS2 graphics often leave me wanting to put my switch down as I try to motivate myself to go collect enough, arrows, weapons and monster parts so I can take on a high leveled enemies. The fact weapons break and you can make new ones isn't a bad idea, but it's poorly executed in Zelda as your limited by what you can make at any one time.

    I wonder if the irony is lost of the developers that they encourage you to collect as many consumable items as possible in your bottomless inventory, but your weapons slots are limited even though the game treats them like a consumable item. It's not fun stopping half way through a fight and having to craft up new weapons because I'm running out of them. Either increase the weapon durability, or give us unlimited weapon slots so we can actually treat our weapons like consumable items.

    Combat is serviceable, the enemy variety is low so you'll end up versing the same enemies again and again like some cheap MMO, the dodge backflip feels inconsistent to use it'll work one moment and in the next exact same scenario it turns into a side step. Also tough enemies are annoying to verse because of the numerous sub menus you have to navigate during the battle, controls and weapon durability will distract you from the fight.    … Expand

If you never played BOTW, then this is a great game for you, but if you're like me and have 400+ hours in BOTW, this is NOT the game for you. The map is hardly any different, the depths and sky islands are boring and empty, the new enemies rarely appear and whenTears of the kingdom is quite literally just breath of the wild, with a few clunky gimicks that barely improve the experience. Zonai technology isn't available enough, so i end up walking around for hours trying to find a control stick so i can actually build something. There are a heap of other problems, including the story. The story is already not the best, but the entire plot twist got ruined for me because I watched the memory from lurelin village which quite literally directly showed me that zelda was a puppet. All the memories about immortal dragons and then finding a dragon with zeldas hair and the master sword sticking out of it spoiled that. Anyways im sick of writing this review, i have even more issues with the game but overall it was a very unenjoyable experience, especially coming from BOTW.… Expand

    And thus Zelda continues as the most overrated franchise in gaming. Glorified DLC for Breath of the Wild, which was already a game lacking in meaningful content and good gameplay. I do not understand the hype. Makes me wonder how this would be received if it didn't have 'Zelda' in the title or 'Nintendo' on the box.

    For me it is the worst zelda game of the series so far and it looks like a big addon for breath of the wild. Same krok **** Same shrine **** No real dungeons and annoying battle system. Too much interactions with the inventory during fights. Construction bull**** is also annoying.

    What an banger! Nintendo did it once again, a game that truely supprise on every corner. Tears of the Kingdom is Breath of the Wild on steroides, more like that. It makes many points better than the predecessor. More Story-Driven-Gameplay, Dungeons, more Quality of Live features. And the exploration part is even more heavier than it was on Breath of the Wild. You now have the Sky aboveWhat an banger! Nintendo did it once again, a game that truely supprise on every corner. Tears of the Kingdom is Breath of the Wild on steroides, more like that. It makes many points better than the predecessor. More Story-Driven-Gameplay, Dungeons, more Quality of Live features. And the exploration part is even more heavier than it was on Breath of the Wild. You now have the Sky above Hyrule, the Ground and the Underground to explore, with tons of new things, that will attract your attention. The "ground" overworld itself is even changed enough not to bore experienced players of the predecessor.

    The build mechanic is very fresh and is very much used for puzzles and for exploration. The Fuze mechanic make the weapon break system no longer bad.

    Conclusion: If you even loved the predecessor, this game is a must have! If you missed story and dungeons in the predecessor its very likely that you maybe like this game. If you absolutely hate Open World games or the way that Zelda went with BotW you maybe shouldnt buy it.

    Absolutely incredible, game of the year material, again! This is BOTW on steroids, everything about it has been dialed up to 11. If you have a creative mind ultrahand and fuse feel limitless. I've played over 40 hours now and am still having a blast. 10/10 Definite recommend.

    I can confirm that this game has beat the dlc allegations. To say that this game is just a dlc with the same map would be extremely disingenuous and disrespectful. This game has the sky islands which brings loads of content and an underground that’s about the same size as Hyrule. So it’s essentially more than twice the size of the last game which was massive.     I just started this game. But I already know it's going to be one of my favorite game of all time. My opinion might change, but I'm 3 hours in and everything about this masterpiecevis litterally perfect, It keeps the best from BotW and makes it even better. If you like BotW you already love TotK. A guaranteed must-play.

    basically it's just better breath of the wild. world's been expanded to go into the sky and deep underground, there's a lot more enemies, the abilities are better, and you can actually craft weapons now.

    Yes it is somewhat lime BOTW, but is so much better. The puzzles are very clever, there are a bunch of things to discover, the story is far better than the first game, the combat with fuse makes everything you get useful in many ocassions. Masterpiece.

    Cons: no PT-BR subtitles, which is a shame since Brazil is one of the largest countries in gaming, many Zelda fans in here.

    i did not like breath of the wild that much. But this game is next level of fun. i am never bored like in breath of the wild. the puzzles is so much fun in this game. and the breakable weapons is not annoying because there is always a weopon to combine with. i want to test different weapons in this game. so i say this is a 10/10 to me.. breath of the wild was a 7/10

    Like any true BotW fan, I shelled out my $70. The game is fun until you get a sinking feeling you'll be grinding for upgrades just like in the first game. Are you willing to sink another 250h into TotK? There's just not enough new magic to justify it.

    I was also surprised how many game assets they reused. And disabling Wolf Link ... unforgivable.

It almost feels like a soulslike at some points. I really hate the weapon break and the stamina drain. Sure it gets better longer in the game.     The games open world is once again one of its biggest strengths. You can find stuff everywhere, the game is full of interesting things to do.
    But in later stages of the game, I didnt even bother opening the chests in shrines anymore, as its just another weapon or other useless junk - the game is missing some collectibles aside from just korok seeds to give loot more variance, instead of just another diamond.

    Side Quests, Exploration, Music and the polish that this game delivers are top notch, one of the best in open world videogames. But the MainQuest is just really weak, with collecting 4-5 macguffins to open the path to progress further. And this gets very old, very quick.
    The temples are incredibly boring designed, the mechanics are incredibly repetetive, with most of the challenges being transporting an item to a destination point. Comparing to older titles, there is no engaging mechanic you need to use to solve the puzzles and riddles. It's Ultrahand, in every situation.

    Ultrahand is a quite clever mechanic, but so incredibly overused, its getting boring to solve every puzzle with it. The game's desperately missing more variety in this aspect.

    After 70+ hours with just another "find the 4 items"-mission, I really hate-finished the end, although a specific plot twist was really interesting and definitely one of the reasons that I still cared about the story.

    Game's definitely hold back by hardware limitation of the old switch system, nintendo really should have released a new hardware at this point, it looks so much better on emulation systems with 2k or higher resolution and 60+ fps than on switch. It's in every aspect the better experience to play this on PC with an Emulator, and that's completely nintendos fault, still not releasing a new hardware.

    Verdict: Very Repetetive, boring and lazy progression design. Beatiful and fun open world.
    Story is not bad, but the way it's presented to the player doing sidequests first doesn't make sense.
    Still no voice acting, still old hardware, and still breakable weapons.
    Its breathtaking to explore the world, but it gets very old, very fast.

    If you liked BotW you will also like this game.

    I personally am not the type for story heavy non-user choice based games. However, when I heard that link gained the ability to build creations I was instantly hooked. The controls are very fluid and familliar, and the mechanics are incredible. The game itself doesn't have that many bugs that make the game unplayable on launch, which is unusual for Nintendo, but its a great thing. Ultrahand (the main ability used to build) can replace all of your weapons alone, and then when you get autobuild, weapons become tools to get more materials. The only reason I don't want to give it a 10/10 is the price of 70$, but if you have Nintendo online you can get it for 50$ by buying the 2 game vouchers for 100$, which is 100% worth it for this game.     This is just another souls like game. Dark Souls just going around and making every game unplayable for people like me one series at a time.

    Once the game puts you out into the rest of the world it becomes a game of running around aimlessly trying to find the path you can actually progress on, which I never found before getting too bored to care anymore.

    Incredible sequel to BOTW. There were some challenging hurdles in my first few hours of gameplay but I am in love with Hyrule once again and I’m enjoying another profound experience with Nintendo’s latest Zelda.

    Espectacular en cada cada apartado , sorprendente. Tuve mis dudas previo al lanzamiento final pero estoy sin palabras. Cada vez que armo algún objeto es memorable y lleno de diversión.

    Improved on all criticisms of BOTW, it is wider, deeper, and more creative in many ways. Mechanics are very smartly designed to give near endless possibilities for puzzle solvement, combat and creative traversal. I love how the game encourages exploration and cheking every corner, but without necesitating it, it caters to any playstyle: detailed, relaxed and even i-wanna-beat-final-boss-now style.

    Didn't finish the game yet but this review is early impression, the game take open world games to a new level to exploration and creativity they took everything that's great about BOTW and make it better, the only issue is the fps drops not the end of the world but it need a fix sooner than later.

The variety is incredible and that makes battle a lot better: in the previous game you were likely not going to engage a battle if you could because that would have consumed your weapons, but with fuse you are pretty much always rewarded for killing an enemy, you can in fact you can use the drop to repair your weapons. The ascend ability makes you able to pass through ceiling and floors, which is very usefull to quickly climb mountains if there is a cave in it or to surprise the enemies in their own bases. Lastly there is the recall ability. Recall works as a rewind that sends an object back in time, retracing its movements and returning it to the state and place it was some seconds before. The story is beautyfull and a lot better than the previous game. The world is HUGE and filled with things to do, you can really feel the care for the details. It is almost 3 times bigger than the Hyrule of The Legend of Zelda Breath of the wild. The game is full of things to do and i really loved the freedom the player has, if you like adventure games and the use of creativity this is a must play.… Expand

    It has everything good about its predecessor, it's nostalgic to a certain point, once again I feel moved by a game, just like with the prequel, it has many changes for the better, the story is exceptional, the gameplay is basically the same and the new mechanics are amazing. I love it.
