It's a joke. This game should be an expansion pack. It runs terrible and barely adds anything new.
They recycled so much content from BotW. And they've been working on this since 2017? Pathetic.

Let me explain: Breath of the Wild was an absolutely monumental leap from previous Zelda games, as well as open-world games in general. Tears of the Kingdom, however, feels lacking considering its development time. Six years is quite a stretch of time to be working with the same world and many of the same assets. While the fusion mechanic and overall building are lots of fun, they do lose their shine. What this game lacks is any real suspense, surprise, or weight during moment-to-moment gameplay.

For a world that is massive, there is not much to find beyond the main story quest. Shrines are definitely an improvement and there are new monsters for sure. But this game feels like exploring a theme park ride on foot. Once you've finished the ride, you've seen it all. Combing through the details will only leave you finding half-baked animatronics that look shabbier in the light. Don't get me wrong, that initial theme park ride is fantastic, which is why this game is still an 8/10. But don't imagine you're going to find anything interesting that isn't explicitly in a main story quest. Compared to Elden Ring, which clearly took inspiration from Breath of the Wild, there were so many moments of real, genuine surprise. There were so many secrets to find that were truly secret. The fact that Placidusax and others are missable makes every moment of gameplay feel like it matters. Meanwhile, exploring the depths in Tears of the Kingdom feels like you're going to find another mine with another chest with a copy of the exact same green tunic but in a slightly different shade that Link wears in every single game. Yikes.

Ultimately, it's a dopamine-filled journey that is an absolute blast in the moment. But this game truly lacks any real substance for it to be memorable in the same way Breath of the Wild was. I'm glad i played it, but I can't imagine going back to it and enjoying it again.

I’m actually unsure of how to grade it, so I have reached a kind of compromise. Because on the one hand it's a fantastic game with a great graphic and a tons of hours of entertainment. There are so many things to do and have fun with, but on the other hand it just feels a bit like a new and bigger version of BOTW with more areas to investigate and some more options. In addition, I think that the underground is a waste of time. What you find down there is very limited. Besides that, I miss the “old days” when there were far more dungeons with keys, compass, map and a new item. Personally I liked the earlier games better with more dungeons and less side quest.
Therefore “Zelda: Ocarina of Time” will still be my favorite game.

Y me quedo corto. 10/10 Expand

What else can be said of the latest entry in the Zelda series? The game is Breat of the Wild, but improved. The building mechanic is just amazing to mess with, the story is amazing and intriguing, with several plot twists. The map is huge.

Expand

I think it's just ugly and doesn't offer great gameplay points. But especially the art and graphics are not acceptable in a 2023 game.

When you thought that Zelda BOTW was already the peak of gaming, and yet team Aounuma continued to surpass our expectations, with the new build mechanics, total of 3 maps and balanced story in open world settings, and yes best moment of Master Sword yet in the franchise history.
    Absolute masterpiece.

Amazing game, lots of things to do, many times I have been doing the main quest just to see something on the horizon, going to it and end up exploring for hours. Not everything should be graphics, even though the graphics of this game are pretty good to me.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After finishing the game, the only thing that I could think of was how great this game was. From beginning to end the game was phenomenal. The map is the same as that of Breath of the Wild, but the changes to the surface and the addition of the depths and sky islands make the map feel entirely new. What stood out to me the most were the bosses and dungeons. The quests surrounding the dungeons and the build up to them were probably some of the best parts of the game for me, with the bosses being just the icing on the cake. The mystery and puzzles for the 5th dungeon were also great. And after you finish every major quest and make your way to the final boss, the presentation and the fight itself make the build up to it worth it. The final phase is the coolest concept for a video game boss that I have ever seen.

This game is worth every dollar, and offers so much content. It is a definite must play.

This is not a DLC (and this is not an iteration you should play with no information or reviews). A huge game that feels alive, with a richer story that finally (always with some doubts) ties Zelda lore and with compelling characters (what kinda felt short in BOTW without the DLC).

I enjoyed this game so much. There are so many aspects that I liked, but what I maybe enjoyed the most was exploring the new mechanicas, and coming up with solutions to problems using them. This game is in my opinion best when played knowing nothing up front, and figuring it out for yourself.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has lived up to the high expectations created by the success of Breath of the Wild with its exquisitely intertwined gameplay systems, outstanding music, and a legendary story culminating in a magnificent denouement. It's not every day that such a special video game like this comes around. Truly the stuff of legend.
