Phenomenal game. The breaking weapons can be annoying but you come across new ones so fast it begins to not matter.

The building is fun although becomes a little necessary.

The sky mechanics are incredible. It really does feel like an expansive open world and to me, does feel a lot like Zelda still too

Best game ever. That’s all I have to say. The physics are still as great as ever, but my only complaint is that the d-pad is pretty bad so sometimes when I try to attach something to my arrows it brings me to shields instead.

My main issue: It is quite a bit different from breath of the wild, but mostly in ways that altered the experience in a less than stellar way.

I literally spent 3 hours trying to get to the shrines in the sky by moving clockwise and climbing the wall above the void and it didn't work. Because this was a sequel to breath of the wild, i expected a more open creative starting world but
My main issue: It is quite a bit different from breath of the wild, but mostly in ways that altered the experience in a less than stellar way.

I literally spent 3 hours trying to get to the shrines in the sky by moving clockwise and climbing the wall above the void and it didn't work.
Because this was a sequel to breath of the wild, i expected a more open creative starting world but was instead greeted with a much less intuitive quest.
The starting map is like a puzzle with only a few answers rather than a world where you can choose your own path. I am almost certain this was not an issue for quite a lot of people who enjoy this game, but for me i was very much affected by this change in gameplay.
The ground world seems to have the exact opposite problem, it feels a lot more barren and much easier to traverse, but the main land quest requires so much backtracking.

The new tools are boring and extremely janky to function, require so many different buttons to be pressed to use correctly and are much less useful and fun in the environment. When i first played breath of the wild, i could immediately tell that the tools given to me were incredibly fun to play with but these did not follow suit.
Not to mention the new tool menu is incredibly finicky and i often end up switching to the wrong ability because of this.

Overall, it definitely feels more like a remix of breath of the wild, and i would be hard pressed to call it any more than that. (still a good game though, but does not at all top botw)
This is essentially a second quest, with different dungeons, equipment, rewards, enemy placement, and difficulty buffed.
The original breath of the wild seems fun and interesting but in this game, some of the new major side quests seem oddly paced and QuIrKy to the max, they feel like instead of being made with some sort of intent, they instead made a bunch of hyrule’s bad hair day situations…

i can tell that this game is an acquired taste, and i would definitely recommend you play breath of the wild to see how much you like the world before buying this, as if you don't there really isn't anything else to look for than more adventures with recurring characters from botw.

I have not played an open world game packed with so many things to in a very, very long time. Besides the many, many things there are to do in the game, the new ultra hand, rewind and ascend abilities make it so that any puzzle in the game can be solved in an endless amount of ways and you'll have a lot of moments where you'll say "holy crap you can actually do that??" This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A faithful sequel to Breath of the Wild. Even though the main locations to the game are the same (with the addition of sky islands and the depths) , it doesn't feel very repetitive. It's like watching the second season of favorite show, you know the characters and the setting but there are twists and turns everywhere, the more you play the more you discover how many things were teased in BoTW. The mechanics allow you to be very creative and try new ways to defeat enemies.
I would like to have seen more parts of the story , perhaps even get to play as Zelda.

Amazing, incredible, one of the best video game sequels in history. The way it feels familiar but so much has changed - Not many developers could pull this off. I think people complaining that it’s the same world map haven’t actually played much of the game.

You know it's good when hours just disappear off the clock for you. I started at 3pm the other day and looked up for the first time expecting 30min to have gone by. WRONG! Two hours had gone by. I'm loving it thus far, but I've only scratched the surface. Don't believe the naysayer red reviews. Not sure what childhood trauma they went through, but it wasn't BOTW's or TOTK's fault. Grow down!

This game is basically a giant DLC for BotW. I didn't care for the original when it came out, I found it to be quite boring and repetitive with a very lackluster story that I just couldn't bring myself to care about. Tears of the kingdom is unfortunately that same game re-gifted under a different title. The cel shaded graphics are nice to look at, and that's about the most praise I could give.

Pros (in comparison to Breath of the Wild):
    *The gameplay is more enjoyable.
    *The map is significantly larger.
*The cinematics are amazing and have improved a lot.
*The dungeons feel almost like proper dungeons again.
*There is a greater variety of shrines.
*New map bosses and a plethora of new weapon possibilities through fusing.
*Overall, I estimate it to be 20% better than BotW.

Cons (related to the Zelda genre):
*While the game boasts impressive art and visuals, its appearance is becoming outdated and falls short in comparison to BotW's market at launch.
*The dungeons are still short and easy.
*The dungeon bosses are easy and lack clever design.
*There are practically no moments of hard thinking or struggle.
*The depths feel somewhat repetitive, and their design is not very appealing.
*I miss some of the old items, particularly a musical instrument and hook shot.
*Many Zelda fans are concerned that Nintendo might completely abandon the old genre, especially 2D. But please, Nintendo, don't do that! Keep both styles! A Link Between Worlds was amazing!

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has lived up to the high expectations created by the success of Breath of the Wild with its exquisitely intertwined gameplay systems, outstanding music, and a legendary story culminating in a magnificent denouement. It's not every day that such a special video game like this comes around. Truly the stuff of legend.
