  • Summary: Super Toy Cars is a tabletop arcade combat racing game featuring fast, cool-looking cars, impressive tracks made of everyday objects, and a bunch of power-ups that will let you destroy your opposition. Collect all the cars and upgrades to keep up with the competition as you progress in career mode, or have a quick race against AI opponents or friends. You can even play with up to four players locally.

    There are 16 different cars in the game, each with its unique handling model. Experiment with them and find the ones that best suit your driving style, as well as the different situations you'll find in all 12 tracks. You may even want to use different cars depending on the type of event you're playing, because there are 48 events in career mode, but not all of them are races!

    It's an option to keep in mind among the racing games on the console, but it ends up coming short in options and content. It has graphics and sound that are very attractive and that make us return to one's childhood, but these are overcome by a very limited length and a scarce range of game modes and challenges.

    At first glance, Super Toy Cars looks to have a strong offering of new ideas to draw the curiosity of Nintendo Switch Owners. Offering a package of 15 tracks with various racing modes and 16 upgradable cars to tinker with, Super Toy Cars feels like a strong offering on the surface. However, the races and tracks quickly feel repetitive.

    Super Toy Cars is a decent enough tabletop racer that will have fans of the classics like Micro Machines taking a quick nostalgic trip down memory lane, but it never manages to live up to the games from which it clearly takes its inspiration. You’ll get some fun out of throwing your car around the cute tracks, but the temperamental physics and inaccurate contact between your car and its surroundings has the potential to frustrate players before that happens. Not a bad game, then, but one that is a few grid positions behind its competitors.

    Super Toy Cars feels like a preview build of a game that is not yet ready for home release. Races play out as expected, and the power-ups do exactly as they are supposed to, while the AI racers provide enough of a challenge to make this fun. However, a huge abundance of glitches ruin the overall gloss, as some walls or other environmental track obstacles are not programmed as solid, while trying to initiate a couch-multiplayer race is a most painful experience.

This game is NOT PLAYABLE ON SWITCH; The button combinations are absurd, the refresh of the screen, the ability to prevent your car from colliding with impossible corners. NO! Can't believe I can't get a refund on this. PLEASE let this review be seen by other people like me. Please don't, just play Mario Kart or your favorite racing game until another proven game comes along.… Expand

    looks like it has some good ideas. The powerups look neat, the drifting seems like it'd be fun. But the frame rate is so bad that it causes melooks like it has some good ideas. It made me nauseous in about 10 seconds, and I felt ill for the rest of the evening. I've played many video games and this has never happened to me before. Avoid this one.… Expand
