Whilst most remasters simply up the visuals and leave it at that, Spyro Reignited Trilogy has been deservedly given an overdue modernisation that brings it in line with the best of the best today.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy can be a product made because of the nostalgia of a certain public, however, the games can be enjoyed even by today’s standards due to it’s quality. It’s a title recommended to those that miss the series and to those that like the “collect-a-ton” sub-genre. Also, it’s simplicity makes it a great game for children and to those that are not used to gaming.

Spyro: Reignited Trilogy is a fantastic visual remake that brings the game feel of the original trilogy intact. It’s not absent of some technical issues and camera problems nonetheless.

A good adaptation with very few technical flaws that preserves all the fun coming from its addictive gameplay.

20 years after its original release, it is still a great platform game, with the perfect balance between classic gameplay and new technical elements. On Nintendo Switch looks and feels great, especially on portable mode... but It's a shame that this port suffers from longer loading times and some FPS issues when playing in dock mode.

If you’ve not experienced the purple dragon’s adventures before, then playing them in the Spyro Reignited Trilogy is absolutely the best way no matter what console you choose. Thankfully, those looking at the Switch port will be happy to know that they’ll be getting the same great experience as everyone else.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy is the perfect Christmas gift for old school video game lover. Those whose childhood consisted of gliding around collecting coins, and those who perhaps weren’t as lucky.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy brings the first three games of the Spyro series in a lovely triple remake that brings their audiovisual component to our day and age while respecting the original contents and keeping most of the experience intact in an effort that will appeal to both newcomers and those looking to revive the days of this platform classic.

Toys for Bob has clearly done an excellent job bringing Spyro to the modern audience. The story, world, characters and gameplay are exactly as they were twenty years ago with just the right amount of new paint to dazzle both veterans and newcomers alike. The inclusion of all three games in the trilogy provides the player the opportunity to see how the series grew and developed, and creates hours of fun in the vividly colourful world of dragons.

The Spyro Reignited Trilogy for the Switch is a beauty to behold. The dragon feels at home on the Switch, with its easy and accessible gameplay, but it suffers from several framedrops and severe loading times.

Overall, these remakes of the Spyro trilogy are great, and new and old fans alike will probably have a lot of fun with them. I know I did. But that doesn’t change the fact that certain bits and pieces of dated mechanics and designs do hold these games back ever so slightly from being almost as great in 2019 as they were in 1998.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy is a wonderful bundle to own. It’s great for seasoned fans or those looking to check out the franchise for the first time. This bundle will get you three complete games for only $40. While I’m still hoping for a new installment in the franchise, you can’t beat a collection containing the three games that made this adorable purple dragon a household name.

The added functionality of a handheld option further the possible enjoyment more than ever before. Comparing the PS4 and Nintendo Switch version reveals that you don't lose out on much if played on either system. So, whether you have played these games before and want to again or missed out its release on other systems, I definitely recommend the Switch port as a valid option.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy offers us a remake of the first three Spyro titles so we can enjoy them again, looking now better than ever. It is a very accessible and fun trilogy, which will be enjoyed by both lifelong fans and new players. If you love to find collectibles, here you have entertainment for many hours.

Whether you grew up with these games or not, Spyro Reignited Trilogy is a loveable reminder of games from a different era, and you’ll likely be grinning the whole time.

A brilliant remaster that has wiped the dust off the original Spyro trilogy and given it a lease of new life in the hope of introducing Spyro to a new generation of gamers. The Nintendo Switch feels like the most suitable home for a family friendly mascot platformer where so many primary colours are at full bloom, so it is a shame that it has taken such a long time for a port. The low level difficulty will be quite off-putting to seasoned gamers, but charming characters, varied worlds and a number of items to collect will keep younger players entertained for quite some time.

Spyro looks and plays great on the Switch. As expected, there are some graphical compromises, but particularly on handheld mode is one of the best looking games on the system. And, of course, the three games still are a lot of fun.

The conversion, although it does not subtract any content element, unfortunately presents some technical weaknesses, linked in particular to an unstable TV frame rate, which unfortunately partially affects the enjoyment of the gameplay.

The Reignited Trilogy feels well at home on the Nintendo Switch. Spyro is still fun to play in a world that looks great. Incremental improvements on all fronts, gameplay and otherwise, keeps the adventure throughout engaging, if a little cumbersome at times.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy is a wonderful love letter to a classic series, keeping everything that made the original games what they were, but slapping on a fresh coat of paint for the HD era. There are a few creaking bones showing their age here and there, but only due to the developers’ desire to keep things as accurate as possible. The Switch version looks absolutely stunning and runs surprisingly well, so if you’re looking for a classic 3D platforming experience, you should definitely give this a look-in.

Mechanically you can feel the age of the originals here and then. But visually you can’t tell them apart from contemporary action-adventures - even though they are rough around the edges on Switch sometimes.

Another amazing platformer is now on the Nintendo Switch. Spyro the Reignited Trilogy is a wonderful remake of the original games that will leave you wanting more. It is a lot easier than the originals, but that should not stop old fans and new fans from playing the game. Its a good game for the Switch, but I would recommend just getting it on PS4 or Xbox if you want the traditional Spyro experience.

Were Spyro games actually good 20 years ago ? That’s what we wondered when we first launched Spyro Reignited Trilogy until we gladly discover that yes, they were. And still are, despite an outdated first episode.

Spyro: Reignited Trilogy lives on contrasts. We can be Spyro whenever we want with the portability and a lot of content to experience with a great control system. But also we cannot deny that the portability was payed with lot of technical compromises, that weren’t even enough to give the game a constant fluidity. Perhaps it’s only to those who have only Switch as a current-gen console.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy might be noticeably worse on Nintendo Switch compared to the other versions of the game, but the port is still mighty impressive overall. If you value portable gaming, there is nothing to consider; this is the version to get. But if you mainly plan to play on the TV and have a Playstation 4 or Xbox One, you will get a better experience on those consoles.
