Not all of the games are contained on the cartridge. Frankly, I would have paid extra for one or two more cartridges and the option would have been nice.

Overall, though it has it's graphical issues, I have personally never been one to be a stickler for such things, and as long as the game is good, I have a positive experience. And the Spyro Reignited Trilogy is most definitely a good remaster, and I also really appreciate the attention to what the players want from a new age Spyro game. With things such as a free camera, and other little things like that, it has something for every player. So, in conclusion, the game has some serious graphical issues, but it has a great core, and honestly, as long as you play in docked mode, you won't even notice said issues. Expand

Much like the orange marsupial trilogy that inspired it, Spyro: Reignited Trilogy is a great return to form for the franchise, with clean controls, rocking soundtrack, and fantastic presentation, and turned this once dead character, into a a revival souped icon.

The Sound part is really Amazing Too, And that Option of Multilanguage Without the Forced Console Language is increible Too, If You Wish, you Can Hear the Tom Kenny's Re-creation of Spyro Voice, and whatever you want, change it for your langague (if you're from other part and other speak) or simply test other voices; The Soundtrack feels on Other Level with that Dynamic effects...

The Gameplay Feels very well, so fluid, despite some few very few occasionally framedrops who literally doesn't affect gameplay, The Game plays very nice and friendly

The Game Itself is so Big and Wide, Maybe looks so short compared to the Actual Standarts, But Spyro, With More than 20 years, Knows how to balance between Worlds/Levels size and the Things to do (Collectables, Missions, Sidequest, etc) and Allways wants to provide to the user the desire to play it and play it more than one single time...

Spyro for me is very special, and i have to wait for long His Arrival on Switch, Maybe is not a True 10 out 10 score (i feel something like a 8,8-9,2) But This Port, For me deserves the 10/10 for two main reasons...

    1) Spyro Full Trajectory, Who finally have ALL His Games on Nintendo Consoles, and in sometimes Spyro helps Nintendo (When Skylanders inspire to create Amiibo and Helps Crash Revival)

    2) And the Fact, than This Port is really, like one of the Best Nintendo Switch Port's at this moment.

If You Love Platforming and Collectaton Games, This Game is OBVIOUSLY for You; If you want to Experience an amazing Blast from the past, by one of the best (and underrated) 3D Platformers ever, This Game is for you... EVEN, if you want a Videogame where you can made short plays and made a relaxing Trip, Spyro is still for you...

This isn't so much a review/scoring of the GAME itself as reviewing the VERSION of the game. As far as the game itself as a whole, I'd prolly rate it a 9, or slightly higher. Toys for Bob did an outstanding job, to say the least.

Okay, let me first preface this "review" by stating a few things. I LOVE Spyro. Well....Insomniac's Spyro, at least. I LOVE what Toy's for Bob has done in (re)creating The Spyro 'Reignited' Trilogy. I cant begin to explain to you how excited I was for this game. It looked absolutely GORGEOUS. Toys For Bob literally just took those original games and BREATHED new life into them...Everything looked exactly how I imagined it when playing as a kid. They didn't %$@# with the game in some stupid, "reignited" 2019 way, and GOD BLESS THEIR HEARTS they didn't. In 2019, I thought that was an impossibly ridiculous thing to expect from developers. They didnt mess with how Spyro controlled, add some stupid game mechanic, or shove a ton of microtransactions (*oops* I mean "surprise mechanics") in our game. They simply took those first three amazing games and shoved them through a time machine. So once the PS4 version dropped, I immediately picked it up. Was NOT disappointed. I loved it SO MUCH, I couldn't imagine anything better than having it on my FAVORITE console, the Nintendo Switch. Imagine..having that beautiful game, PORTABLE. I was STOKED. Watched some reviews, and they mentioned a few minor things here and there (graphics a bit slimmed down, frame dips occasionally, etc) but ultimately determining it was still worth a buy. So I finally got it.
And here we are. I'm on Metacritic, writing MY review....and scored the game..... a SEVEN?!? Well, with ALL THAT being said, let's fast forward to why:

The PS4 and Xbox versions (let's face it) are essentially their "pull-all-the-stops" base original version of the game. The version that Toy's for Bob sat back and said, "Yeah....thats it. Its done." Their "final vision" of the game, if you will. The Switch version, was then crafted FROM that first original product. I don't think anyone could argue that anecdote to be false. However, many people seemed to (perhaps not intentionally) smudge over many aspects of this game from its console conterparts, the Xbox and PS4. Sure, this isn't like how it was back in the day, where console variant games could be TOTALLY different games in their entirety, this is indeed the same BASE game...

Visually, they took MANY of the games details, and stripped them bare-bones. There are points of the game where the framerate can tank quite significantly (especially when the game is first booted up, and seems to smooth out after 10 mins or so playing). The controls, for the most part are fine...FOR THE MOST PART...but again, there are points where there is NOTICEABLE input lag/delay. Quite honestly, its the one thing that mightttttt affect your playthrough the most out of all the concerns I've mentioned so far. Don't get me wrong, this version is ABSOLUTELY playable. However, BE WEARY and do your research if you have played this game extensively on PS4/Xbox....the graphical/framerate dip and occassional input lag WILL BE NOTICEABLE, and can get pretty difficult to look past once you notice it. And once you do, there is seemingly no going back. Its almost like, there is a film/filter over the world, I'm not sure how to describe it.....that almost looks reminiscent of going back to playing a 3DS title, after getting used to the Switch. Like playing Smash Ultimate and then playing the 3DS Smash Bros, or playing Pokemon Sword/Shield and then playing Ultra Sun/Moon. Where they look fantastic on their own, but once you see the new versions and how the game is MEANT to really look....you begin to see all the blemishes and lack of polish that you once THOUGHT was there. So playing the PS4 Spyro by itself, prolly will spoil the Switch version for you, I hate to say it. Cuz judging by these other user reviews, thats exactly whats going on here....

"Almost a perfect switch port of an amazing game..."
    "Very nearly a perfect port..."
ME: What game are you all playing??? Like, wtf?

"As long as i played, it feels like one of the BEST PORTS than Nintendo Switch Could Receive..."
ME: Uhhhh...what? Seriously? No. Look at Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Doom, Wolfenstein, DRAGON QUEST XI?? THE $&%king WITCHER 3??? Even Toad's Treasure Tracker for goodness sakes...THOSE are GOOD PORTS. A "GOOD PORT" doesn't mean a "GOOD GAME COME TO NINTENDO SWITCH". They are different.

"Perfect port on the Switch, no frame drops in docked and portable modes."
ME: Uh, yeah...if you don't notice ALL THE FRAME DROPS IN DOCKED AND PORTABLE MODES.

"Great game but a bit laggy. Even though at the beginning it bothered a lot, you get used to it."
ME: Guy scored it an 8. Perfect, short review. Well done.

So, BUY IT, but either PS4 or Switch. NOT BOTH. THE GAME IS FANTASTIC

Let's start off with the positives: All three games look great, play great, and sound amazing, as I would hope so since they’re from-the-ground-up remasters. This is definitely the Spyro you know and love if you grew up with the original trilogy on the PS1. This is definitely the Spyro you know and love if you grew up with the original trilogy on the PS1. With a few changes to the games (i.e Gnorcs in Twilight Harbor not using real firearms anymore, Bombo being renamed to Bob, and Spyro 1 now having skill points like in 2 and 3) the games are otherwise unchanged. The muscle memory you acquired playing the original PS1 titles can essentially be re-applied to these games with a little adjustment since you’re going from 5th Gen game mechanics to 8th Gen game mechanics. All the secrets (not exploits though) are still here too. The team at Toys For Bob went above and beyond to put EVERYTHING that was in the original games into these games and even asked fans on Reddit for things they may have missed; that’s what I call dedication. They even made a program called Spyro-Scope to get precise and exact numbers for things like how high Spyro jumps, how far he glades, and the range of his fire breath. Again, dedication. The games are essentially made by fans for fans. They even have some old cheat codes (i.e Squid Skateboard cheat code) in this game for some fun so I recommend looking them up. Not to mention that some of the old cast (Tom Kenny as Spyro from 2 and 3) reprise their roles in this remastered trilogy making it even more nostalgic then before. The music is also pretty well-done. While it’s not entirely a note-for-note remake of Stewart Copeland’s masterpieces for the first 3 games, it gets the job done surprisingly well and does add some things; a pitter patter sound for when you charge and a distortion effect when you’re idle making the music very nice. And the fact that they give you the option to switch from the Reignited soundtrack to the original PS1 soundtrack is such an appreciated feature I’m glad they added. The animations are also amazing, almost Pixar quality. The fluidity, flexibility, and speed of the animations makes you feel like you’re watching an interactive movie when they come on. Even though some of the movies are pre-rendered at 30fps, they still look amazing and incredible. The production values for these remasters are so much better than Insomniac’s original trilogy (as I hope it would be).

Sadly it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. The physical copy for Nintendo Switch only comes with the first Spyro game on the cartridge, you have to download the other two games onto your system memory or SD Card. Which is funny since the game is 15GB and Activision can definitely afford 16GB cartridges. That’s what I call being unnecessarily cheap, Activision. It sucks even more since the Xbox and PS4 versions DID have this problem, but have been reprinted to have all three games and the update patches on the Blu-Ray discs, meaning no more downloading the last two games. And while all three games have some bugs and glitches, what game doesn’t though, Spyro 3 is sadly the worst offender. With 3 being my favorite out of the trilogy, it was sad to see that Sanzaru Games, the company hired to work on Spyro 3 since Toys For Bob didn’t have time to work on it themselves, didn’t optimize it well enough to make its quality on par with Spyro 1 and 2. In Lost Fleet I was able to trick the game into letting me skate on the acid when I should’ve died on it. I’ve hit multiple invisible objects during the multiple skating mini-games (Lost Fleet and the Snowboarding bonus game being the biggest two), my first battle with the Sorceress ended with me seeing double her in her in-game rendered death scene, multiple enemies getting stuck on walls, the dog in Lost Tombs not instantly disappearing when he goes through the exit portal at the end of the level, and Sparx not picking up green gems. Spyro 3, again, is the least polished game out of this trilogy and that upsets me cause, again, it’s my favorite. While I always have the original PS1 title to go back to, it’s sad that this happened in the first place. And it sucks that the Nintendo Switch version is the only version not to receive a reprint containing all three games and the patches on the cartridge.

Overall, despite the flaws I listed, I would still recommend this game to Spyro fans new and old. The pros definitely outweigh the cons and these are definitely the definitive ways to experience the games if you can look past all the negatives they have. You’re getting three amazing collectathon games for $40, and sometimes for $20 when it’s on sale, and that’s a price worth paying for them. These three games are prime examples of why the collectathon genre was as popular as it was in the 90s and why it’s making a small comeback as of lately. Spyro: Reignited Trilogy is a must-have for Spyro fans

Spyro is one of my favorite videogame characters of all time. I loved playing this collectathon again. In some levels the controls feels a little bit clunky but apart from that its an amazing remake. I hope Activison makes more Spyro the Dragon games like they're doing with Crash.

Another Activision crap. Looks cute and alll and at the first levels is fun but the controls are mediocre making a big artificial difficulty, specially at the end game. I push through to the end but it’s frustrating

Having never experienced the original trilogy before, I was intrigued to learn where the dragon got his wings before lending his support to the Skylanders franchise. I'll admit after playing this remake, while I still have a soft spot for Spyro's Adventure, I enjoy this edition of Spyro loads more. The original series wasn't just game breaking for the platforming genre, but it was also responsible for crafting gameplay styles that appealed to all ages.

This is a cartoon, fantasy adventure at its finest. It's got gorgeous colors, a good sense of visual humor, and it's inhabited by both adorable and terrifying creatures. It's a great way to release stress by exploring a big open world full of personality and pizazz...though if you're not careful, you may gain stress if you get stuck on an annoying mini game or two.

Yeah, this trilogy may not be perfect whether you play the original or the remake. But having access to a three in one game with refined controls, legendary graphics, catchy music, and availability on multiple consoles gives the entire world a chance to experience what made the purple dragon so magical to begin with. Back when I played Skylanders Trap Team in middle school, I used to take my mini Spyro figure, and try to recreate the enjoyment of the original game. Breaking every object in sight pretending to one hundred percent the level. Of course it was Trap Team, so that would always remain an impossible dream thanks to the expensive requirements.

I've experienced three games that capture audiences in three unique ways. Spyro One is one hundred percent platforming for classic gamers. Spyro Two is seventy percent platforming and thirty percent mini games, for gamers that like to mix it up here and there. And Spyro Three is sixty percent platforming and forty percent mini games. Whenever one game feels lacking, you can switch to the next for a change of pace. It's like Skylanders...only you don't have to spend your life savings buying to access the entire game. Around here, we have Moneybags for that role.

This game is a reminder of what made Spyro good to begin with. In the beginning of Skylanders they tried to make him appealing to the teen demographic in the beginning, but that was a huge mistake looking back. Spyro the Dragon wasn't just entertaining kids, Insomniac wanted to make a game that would entertain everyone who owned a Playstation, young and experienced. Skylanders will have its fans, but Spyro will remain to be a gaming legend with this remake acting as support.

Pretty amazing and accurate remake of the original games. It really hits the nostalgia bone but the core gameplay is still very fun.

I love this game. Excellent remake and as far as i can tell there are no relevant bugs .I don't usually enjoy platformers but this game is genuinely fun to play. the kind of game to shut off you're brain and just enjoy when after a long day. If you can get this on a sale definitely go for it.

This game is a masterful remake of a classic series that only makes me want Spyro 4 to happen more than ever. The graphics are a perfect upgrade. The voice acting is fresh but familiar. And the option to switch between the original soundtrack and that of the remake is another great addition.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy is another near masterpiece. My only complaint is more of a hardware

Spyro Reignited Trilogy is another near masterpiece. My only complaint is more of a hardware issue as the frame rate drops and the motion blur is subpar. An otherwise must have for fans of Spyro and other 3-D platformer collect-a-thons who enjoy gaming on the go!

Fun and nostalgic games. I find it therapeutic to sit back at the end of the day and just collect gems on Spyro. I think it's great that every game in the trilogy is more creative than the last and given that I played each game directly after each other it definitely kept things interesting and kept me engaged.

It loses points for me because I felt like there were some things that you

It loses points for me because I felt like there were some things that you just could not figure out without looking them up. Also the 2nd and 3rd games require quite a bit of back tracking if you want to collect all the gems and eggs and I'm not really a fan of that. Was also a bit laggy at times and the controls in the speedway levels tended to be a bit finicky.

If you’ve not experienced the purple dragon’s adventures before, then playing them in the Spyro Reignited Trilogy is absolutely the best way no matter what console you choose. Thankfully, those looking at the Switch port will be happy to know that they’ll be getting the same great experience as everyone else.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy is a title that seems good for beginners, while still offering seasoned players plenty to do. [Issue #42 – October 2019, p. 71]

Spyro Reignited Trilogy is the perfect Christmas gift for old school video game lover. Those whose childhood consisted of gliding around collecting coins, and those who perhaps weren’t as lucky.
