Nov 28, 2017Resident Evil fans have long been clamoring for a return to form for the series and with Revelation 2 it was clearly a step in the right direction. Blending light puzzle solving and survival horror elements with the more modern over-the-shoulder perspective delivers a truly menacing experience. Some unfortunate design decisions, mainly forcing the player to switch between characters, hold it back from being among the pantheon of greats in the series. However an interesting story, horrifyingly beautiful environments, and rock solid gameplay provide more than enough to look past its shortcomings.

Jan 2, 2018Resident Evil Revelations 2 takes everything from the first game and improves upon it. Although I am torn between which location I prefer (Cruise Ship vs Island facility) I feel that this sequel has benefitted from being developed for consoles. The Revelations spinoff series has produced arguably two of the best Resident Evil games since Resident Evil 4 on the Gamecube, and now we can finally experience them both together on a Nintendo console!

Dec 18, 2017While Resident Evil Revelations 2 borrows sparingly from its contemporaries, it is better than it's budget would have you believe it to be. The story is just the right amount of schlock with a smaller yet more focused cast. The tension is actually present in a moody well realised setting. The overall game feel lends itself to a much more enjoyable experience when compared to its predecessor too. Add in a comprehensive (yet slightly grindy) Raid Mode and you've got yourself a winner.
-
Dec 12, 2017All in all, Resident Evil Revelations 2 is an affordable and fun experience for Nintendo Switch owners. Not quite up to the standard of a full Resident Evil experience, but not far off either - great to play with gyro controls, too.
-
Nov 29, 2017This sequel still is a great cooperative game –and very enjoyable on your own–, and this version shows how well Switch can handle “big” games.
-
Nov 29, 2017A certain sense of porting laziness aside, this is a fine entry that stands proud in a storied franchise. Revelations 2 is a full fat Resident Evil experience with a neat partner system and some terrifyingly tense set pieces. There's a strong case to be made that you should ignore the original (especially if you've played it already) and simply purchase this prime slab of survival horror, but completionists won't be disappointed either way.

Nov 28, 2017Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is neither a better nor a worse game than its predecessor. It improves upon it on many levels, but also does take a few steps back in others, mostly in its RAID mode, which, while still a thoroughly enjoyable and recommendable experience, does not quite replicate the excellence of its big brother's by trying to appeal to a broader audience with a lower difficulty. The campaign here, however, is a lot more interesting this time around, and is an absolute highlight in split-screen co-op on the same console, offering a kind of local multiplayer experience the likes of which is not often enough seen on home consoles these days. Shame the campaign can't be enjoyed online for people who don't have a trusty Player-2 at hand's reach! Please, Capcom, though, fix these loading times, because it's hard to believe that with the game installed onto a SD card, the game couldn't load any faster than this.

Nov 28, 2017Resident Evil Revelations 2 is an awesome way to enjoy the game again in a portable machine with an interesting control system and a good technical appearance.
-
Dec 8, 2017While the port of the episodic survival horror to Switch is well executed, their were massive technical compromises to be made - definitely more than with the predecessor.
-
Nov 30, 2017Resident Evil Revelations 2 still is a pretty good entry in the series from Capcom. With great horror elements, better in terms of gunplay (motion controls rules) and full of content for Nintendo Switch.
-
Nov 30, 2017The Switch port of Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is the most complete to date, thanks to the Switch's various gameplay styles and its motion controls. This version also benefits from allowing two players to play together on either a TV or the Switch's screen.
-
Nov 28, 2017The Switch version of Resident Evil: Revelations 2 capably handles this entertaining horror experience. The frame rate is steady and the motion controls are mostly worth using. Load times can drag on, but they aren’t frequent enough to be a big issue. If you appreciate the thrill of sharing intimate zombie encounters with a friend, the ability to play this local co-op story with one Joy-Con a piece makes it a handy game to have on your Switch.
-
Nov 28, 2017Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is a step backward in this new spin-off series. It has a lot of content, but the episodic nature of the game has contributed some problems to the story and the gameplay, both of which are full of fillers. The conversion, at least, is good.
-
Nov 27, 2017Revelations 2 is a consistently fun game that will keep you hooked on its plot all the way to the conclusion. But be aware that the port is full of little grievances that can test your patience.
-
Nov 28, 2017Of the two, I give the tip to the first Revelations, as that boat setting really is up there with the original Resident Evil’s mansion, and Resident Evil 0’s train as a distinctive and brilliantly designed environment. Otherwise I find these games to be unremarkable. Entertaining, but unremarkable.

Dec 14, 2017Really, it feels like shovelware.
