Rain World is an indie experience that does not try to hide its difficulty level but which will no doubt find plenty of fans warming up to its very well crafted world and art style. Its gameplay may feel frustrating at moments but Rain World is overall a very involving game that will get players to lock their attention on the game.

This is a cold and loving game that is far more than most people realise. It is worthy of both your attention and your time. It thoroughly deserves this second chance and I hope that people make the most of it.

It's combination of platforming and survival elements will keep those who aren't turned off by its challenge coming back for more as they chip away at the hours of content hidden away beneath the grime and dirt.

Rain World does an excellent job in letting you know when the cycle ends, sometimes too much so as the game makes heavy use of the rumble function to let you know the end is nigh.

For its beautiful presentation and for all of the ponderous ruminations about life that it might invoke within the player, it’s a crying shame that Rain World just doesn't feel very fun to play. While there is nothing wrong with sluggishness and weight as intentional designs, the options given to the player feel totally at odds with the sheer relentlessness and urgency of the systems at work.

The main appeal I saw in Rain World was in its art style and the design of its enemies. Its mechanics need some fine tuning for it to be the masterpiece it has the potential to be. If you’re looking for a game that’ll really try your patience and give you a good challenge, then I’d absolutely recommend adding this to your library. Otherwise, I’d recommend you look elsewhere.

One of the best games ever made.
There's nothing quite like it out there.
    Just go and play it.

A masterpiece, nothing less. Give it the time and dig into the Rain World Wiki though, because there is almost no handholding provided in the game

What an absolute gem of a game Rain World is! I've never played anything quite like it. It's brutally difficult at times, but it's alsoWhat an absolute gem of a game Rain World is! I've never played anything quite like it. It's brutally difficult at times, but it's also utterly beautifully programmed, designed and scored. An epic journey from start to finish, and one which requires skill and patience from the player - you need to really learn the mechanics of the game to fully appreciate it. The organic feeling of the ecosystem and the wildlife that inhabits it are unlike anything I've seen in any other game - it truly feels alive and breathing. Observing and studying the world around you is the key to get to where you want to go. Everything from the general ambience, to sound effects, the designs of the levels, the constant search for food and shelter, outwitting and stealthing by enemies - to mystical otherworldly encounters and surprising mechanics that will literally turn the world upside down - this is just pure beauty all the way through. One of the best games I've ever played hands down. Full Review »
