    Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 doesn’t reinvent the wheel - that was already done in the first game in this series. What this sequel does is keep what worked so well about the original while adding to or refining everything else. Clear, expansive tutorials make it more approachable, a variety of online Puzzle Leagues make the depth of online play stronger, and the new Skill Battle mode adds a smart twist to the gameplay. This is a vibrant and enjoyable puzzle game that is packed with content and variety.

    In a year full of massive, story-driven and crunch-produced experiences, it’s refreshing to spend time with something so straightforward. Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 does something simple but does it right, and when I’m dropping blocks or matching puyos, I just can’t seem to put my Switch down.

    Not needing to reinvent the wheel, Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 delivers the same fun and brilliant mash-up of two of the best drop-puzzle games ever with a healthy dollop of content, both classic and new. The jury's still out on whether the new Skill Battles will change things up, but regardless, this is a great puzzle package for parties or pros, and hopefully a great jumping off point for newcomers to discover the marvel and skill of competitive puzzle battles.

    Part of the charm of Puyo Puyo is the characters, and when you combine that with the personification of the Tetraminoes there is a lot to enjoy here. The Adventure mode is full of quirky and silly interactions with characters Puyo fans will be familiar with, along with any fondness for the characters PPT introduced. The new Skill Battle mode might not set the world on fire, but if you want more out of the game you could spend some time levelling up a team. On top of that, the game is just really fun to play, especially if you can join friends either in person or online. There is also more free content to be added into the game post-launch to look forward to as well! Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 is a welcome return when the world can do with an enjoyable game to see out 2020.

    Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 takes the great concept seen in the first game and makes it even better with the addition of the "Skill Battle" mode which adds a touch of RPG to the gameplay. Gamers who can do without this new mode can keep playing the first Puyo Puyo Tetris. People who enjoy Puzzle Games and didn't play the first game shouldn't sleep on Puyo Puyo Tetris 2.

    As a big fan of the original and of Tetris in general, it really pains me to give Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 this score. I really want it to be higher, but the persistence of the sensitivity problem had me throwing down my controller and cursing in rage too much to not be a factor. If you aren’t a serious Tetris or Puyo Puyo veteran, this probably won’t matter to you and you absolutely can have a blast. But if you are, there’s a good chance you’ll experience some frustration alongside the fun. It’s still worth playing, but the issues are too significant to ignore.

    Its great and has many characters and sounds. sadly they won't put any more characters. They are done Updating the characters :(.

Although the game is not perfect to arcade experience and pretty unbalanced to the last game, it has contents and more aspects that brings more hours of playing this game. It brings excitement for me since this franchise start to nowadays. It's surpasses every puzzle game.

    This game still reflects for Sega that they did what Nintendon't!!! Excellent indie game. Someone still sings that Genesis song. Nice!    … Expand

I got half way through story mode, at which point Tetris had been very easy and Puyo Puyo had been a good challenge but was now becoming difficult. This was somewhat expected, although I thought I might get a little farther before Puyo Puyo became so difficult. I enjoyed this first half of the game and decided to try out another of the various game modes I saw in the menu. So, I switched to online play for Tetris only, something I was looking forward to. Online play for Tetris does not run smooth. I may go back to finish story mode or play other game modes but I can’t go higher than this with the disappointing online Tetris.… Expand

    Aside of having a better story than the original, using a better rating system and minor aesthetics improvements here and there, Puyo PuyoAside of having a better story than the original, using a better rating system and minor aesthetics improvements here and there, Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 is a surprising downgrade from its predecessor in terms of gameplay and fluidity.

    While some people complain about it not being newbie-friendly, there are plenty of tutorial modules in the Practice Mode... even for cheesy strats that are widely known to be bad manners in online versus play. The other problem here is that they also made the game worse for competitive play, as they slowed down the movement of the pieces compared to the previous game. This might have been an attempt to balance Puyo Puyo versus Tetris games, but it consequently boosts the power of slow and cheesy combo strategies.

    While it is still early after release and the game could be readjusted, the Tetris Company has shown very little interest in what the fans want so I have little hope for a rebalance or significant quality of life fixes. This game clearly focuses on the Puyo Puyo community and leaves the Tetris community far behind.    … Expand
