PMCE2+ is an excellent addition to the Switch eShop, not to mention a spectacular evolution of the Pac-Man franchise. A lot of games have legacies, as Nintendo fans know very well, but some of the older titles that pioneered the industry are either stuck in re-releases or not as engaging to today’s players. If PMCE2+ is proof of anything, it’s that with a little ingenuity, the core mechanics of these classics can easily appeal to a contemporary audience.

Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 Plus takes an already fiendishly addictive arcade game and adds a fantastic multiplayer mode. At $20 it’s an impulse buy for any Switch owner.

Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 Plus is a fantastic evolution of the core Pac-Man formula, delivering addictive gameplay at blistering speeds. With such a sharp focus on high scores, I guarantee you'll be coming back to this one again and again.

Overall, the Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 Plus release for the Nintendo Switch is a one-up on all the other releases of the game previously. It has the original game very much intact and this new ‘plus’ game that turns the established gameplay design on its head (in a good way). Two beautiful forms of frustrating entertainment in one must-have package for the Nintendo Switch.

The 2-player mode is substantial enough that it feels like its own game. If you’ve already played the original to death on another console, I’d still recommend grabbing the Switch version.

Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 Plus is everything that fans of the classic arcade game could want out of a legacy sequel, focusing on delivering a pure, high-speed realization of the concept that was introduced way back in 1980. Between the single player and multiplayer modes, there’s enough content here for hours of play, and it’s all endlessly replayable. We would give this game a strong recommendation to anyone that enjoys the easy to learn, difficult to master gameplay that you typically find in an arcade game; PCE2 has it in spades. For 20 bucks, this one is a no-brainer.

It’s mad to think how much fun you can have with Pac-man in 2018, but Bandai Namco continue to make these new iterations, adding little bits to make them well worth the investment. It’s hard to know where Pac-Man can go from here, but this is a Switch game well worth having on the go.

While not having the same revolutionary reach as the first Championship Edition and the improved version of the DX Championship Edition, Namco's title is a drug for lovers of the classic arcade and an excellent starting point for younger players.

Thanks to the essential structure and the great rhythm, Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 Plus is still a good solution for those who want to get away from reality and jump into a fast and frantic experience.

Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 Plus is a perfect game for everyone that manages to bring back the classic and solid gameplay of this historical franchise albeit with some new and fresh additions that make the game feel completely different from the past.

Pac-Man CE2+ is a frantic experience that every good on-the-go gamer should have. But the new 2P mode could and should have been way better.

Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 Plus is essentially an expanded version of its predecessor and one which does a very competent job at bringing the Pac-Man experience back, with all its frantically addictive gameplay that made the very first game an immortal classic, now with a cooperative multiplayer experience. While some more additions would be appreciated, this edition is certainly very welcome to the Nintendo Switch catalog, where it will find its place among the fans.

The gameplay changes that run counter to the original arcade game don’t always work, but overall, the elements synergize to form a worthy and thrilling deviation of the classic formula. It takes time to learn this new playstyle, but it’s a worthy and thrilling deviation of the classic formula.

A classic hero from an ever-popular franchise returns, revamped and better than ever on the Nintendo Switch. Players can experience the original game that was released two years ago with a new twist; a co-op multiplayer mode that is designed to offer hours of fun and entertainment among friends and family members as well.

Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 Plus is a very good puzzle / reflex game, for newcomers and veterans who have already tried the first game. It offers new rules that boost the gameplay and renew the fun, and this Switch version also adds a game within the game, with a very cool co-op mode. Since the game comes out at a low price on eShop, we see no good reason to avoid this sweetmeat, as long as you like frantic arcade games with which scoring depends primarily on your reflexes and your intelligence.

PAC-MAN Championship Edition 2 PLUS could have been the definitive version of an already almost perfect game. The damming frame-rate drops are bad enough to affect the game's playability and oftentimes lead to unfair losses. In spite of the technical shortcomings, though, those who manage to adapt or compensate for this unyieldingly flaw will still find that this is a wonderful version of an already beloved arcade classic. The music and sound effects are all distinctively very Pac-Man, but with a techno flair to it that gives it a bit of extra synth-crunch. Anyone who loves the arcade original will love this new take on it, but be warned that it does have some pretty bad chop and would be best to wait till it gets patched.

Pac-Man arrives on Switch with an excellent game, incredibly enjoyable with two players, as well as the timeless fun you get from the original formula.

Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 feels perfectly at home on the portable system. It retains all the same game modes, features, and good looks of the previous console versions, but smartly adds a two-player mode, where the sense of teamwork is more palpable and there’s a distinct sense of accomplishment when two players work together to trap a whole string of delicious frightened ghosts for big points.

Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 Plus is an enhanced porting of the game released in 2016 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Game modes and gameplay are the same but this Switch version adds a brand new local two players co-op that bring some new cool mechanics and increases the fun. And it can be played with a single Joy-Con too. You can also play in tandem with the CPU if you do not have friends to team up, but it is not the same thing. After more than 35 years, Pac-Man is still here to entertain everyone.

Championship Edition 2 Plus its the same game from 2016, but adding a new 2 player mode. It's an insane arcade that forgets the laws from the original Pac-Man, adding different objectives (like eating moving fruit) and a ton of options. But its core is so focused on getting hi-scores (and rankings), that the casual player probably won't enjoy it.

Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 Plus offers the same exciting fun that fans are used to while also including a fully realised and wholly enjoyable multiplayer component. Even if you played the vanilla version, this is worth getting for those who want to play with a pal.

Overall I had a good time with Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 Plus, but even without performance issues I think I prefer how the original game played more. There’s also a good challenge within the single-player offerings here, and they’ll have you hooked on getting a complete grade. Other than that, it’s more like a different version of Pac-Man CE than a true sequel, so it might be worth a look if any of this sounds interesting to you.

This is the game that has adapted the formula from the original video game to present times. Clearly, it's a limited formula; for many it can already be worn out or obsolete. However, it has nice-looking visual effects, one or two more speeds so that mastering the skills and reaching better scores is slightly more attractive than ever.

Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 Plus performs well on Switch, with only a few fits of noticeable slowdown while in handheld mode. The Plus 2P mode is a nice addition, but sadly lacks the content available in the main game. If you’re looking for a fun and quick distraction for a few minutes every once in a while, this game may be right up your alley.

Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 Plus offers a fun twist on a classic gaming formula along with some great two-player action on the go or on the big screen, it just seems oddly rigid in how it lets you play.

Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 Plus is the Switch version of a sequel that is not as good as the original one. Nevertheless, the game is still fun and the new co-op mode is quite enjoyable.

Pac-man Championship Edition 2 Plus keeps all the fun and frenetic gameplay that made the original so appealing, a inconsistent frame rate holds back the otherwise great package that shouldn't be missed.

Pac-Man CE2+ is Pac-Man high off his own fame - producing follow-up sequels that continually depart further from what made him popular in the first place. Flashy, but largely superfluous, Pac-Man CE2+ presents short bursts of bite-sized fun with its novel co-op Score Attack mode exclusive to Switch, but the Adventure Mode feels empty in its lack of spontaneity. High score-hunting fiends will be in their element here, but not necessarily those looking for enjoyment without external motivators.

The core of Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 Plus is good, especially with the Score Attack mode and the novel new local two-player mode. Unfortunately, the botched offline score uploading, minor technical issues, and disappointing Adventure mode drag the entire experience down. If you have friends locally to play the two-player mode or friends online to score chase with, this is a fine game, at least as long you’re always near WiFi when you get high scores. Without the well-implemented high score chases, it’s still fun, just maybe more fleeting than it could have been.

Proof that bigger isn’t always better. The additional gameplay mechanics only get in the way of how fun the original was, and makes the screen a busy mess at times. The saving grace is that the Switch version of the game is perfect for short play sessions, which makes it a decent purchase for those that want Pac-Man on the go.

While it failed to grab me the first time around, the second time has been a charm: Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 Plus is a great, brave effort to do more with this classic gaming icon than simply rehash and rerelease emulated versions of its heyday. With its quick-fire modes it’s also an absolutely perfect fit for the Switch – and well worth it’s downloadable-only price of entry.

Horrible horrible frame rate lag , terrible stutter, even worse joypad/con lag in both undocked mode, and unforgivibly..noticably worse in docked mode, in a game that 60fps is a precision requirement.
This is a seriously flawed port. such a shame as I have the ps4 version too which I bought the switch version off the strength of that one.
Casuals will probably disagree and wonder why i gave it a low score, but high score arcade junkies and hardcore gamers will understand why this stinking mess means its impossible to attempt any serious score in this port.
The gameplay mechanics is is the only redeeming factor that gives it a 3 score for anyone wanting to play the best Pac man since championship deluxe (a masterpiece).
Stating 'but it's on switch so it's on the go' is not an excuse.
If your the next budding Billy Mitchell, go get the ps4 version.
