Nintendo Force MagazineOct 30, 2017This is easily one of the best co-op titles on Switch and can't be recommended enough! [Issue #30 – November/December 2017, p. 19]

Aug 8, 2017Overcooked remains a fantastic game that is sure to deliver one heck of a good time, or at the very least help you drop a few of those “friends” you’ve been looking to cut out of your life. It’s a solid game that is only made better thanks to the Nintendo Switch’s unique design and is a must-have in the system’s growing library of portable party games.

Aug 7, 2017Overcooked: Special Edition is a spectacular downloadable title for Switch owners to play with their friends locally. I easily lost hours playing right next to a buddy on a couch, screaming obscenities and the names of food items. Anyone looking for a fun party game or a fun cooperative Switch experience should pick up Overcooked immediately. Unfortunately, the exciting nature of the game will wear off for those who don’t have others to play with, which should surely be a consideration for anyone thinking of picking the game up.

Jul 31, 2017Overcooked is one of the freshest couch co-op games I’ve ever played. It’s a perfect blend of strategy and chaos, asking you and your teammates to think on your feet as its smart and strange levels do everything they possibly can to make sure you are shouting at each other. The Switch port has some framerate and rumble issues that keep it from matching the best versions available, but for local multiplayer fun it’s hard to beat.

Aug 25, 2017Overcooked: Special Edition is a great co-op game that takes advantage of the Switch portability and Joy-Cons. Sadly its framerate issues prevent from getting a higher score.
-
Aug 2, 2017Overcooked’s success is based primarily in its varied take on a simple concept. In every stage, the goal is to just make meals, but clever, nigh-endless obstacles and twists complicate things, forcing new strategies and tactics to be tested and used. Up until the bitter end, the diversity of levels and concepts is glorious. The fast-paced cooking might get stressful, but that also makes success all the more tasty. If you can find the right team of cooks and overlook a lower framerate, Overcooked on Switch is glorious.

Aug 2, 2017All in all, Overcooked is an absolute must-buy for anybody looking for a fantastic party game to play with friends. The wacky visuals and chaotic gameplay make it an ideal game for local co-op, and there’s plenty of content to work through. Although there are some disappointing launch issues with the framerate (reflected in our scoring), we still give this one a strong recommendation overall; it's a title that perfectly nails what makes local multiplayer games so fun.

Aug 1, 2017There's a tremendous amount of fun to be had with Overcooked: Special Edition, and it's another great little party gem that's guaranteed to generate some hilarity - if not arguments. It's a joyous little game, and if you love fun it's essential.
-
Jul 31, 2017The game looks gorgeous and has plenty of personality, and on the Switch you also get all the DLC, which adds even more value to the overall package. More than anything, though, the ability to detach the joy cons from the Switch unit and get a two player game going anywhere is a brilliant use of the technology, and makes Overcooked feel like it was designed for the console from the very start.
-
Jul 28, 2017One of the best offline multiplayer games of recent years, and proof that shouting at people sitting next to you is still one of gaming’s greatest pleasures.
-
Jul 30, 2017Ghost Town Games' amusing multiplayer experience is back with a porting that feels quite undercooked.
-
Aug 10, 2017Overcooked: Special Edition is a funny game, especially if played with some friends. Less sophisticated than SnipperClips, it offers a good variety of silly yet challenging situations, with a simple control system that makes the most of the joy-cons, with an excellent use of the rumble. Do not expect some exclusive content for this version, though.
-
Aug 16, 2017A good party game for the Nintendo Switch, but a bit limited. A perfect fit for this new hardware.
-
Aug 11, 2017Overcooked for the Switch is one of the best co-op games you can get for the system at the moment. Its chaotic but fun gameplay and delivers hours of joy, while delivering enough variety to stay fresh until the end.
-
Aug 3, 2017As fun as the original version of the game but with more levels and some added flaws that makes this Special Edition good but not better.

Aug 2, 2017Overcooked and the Nintendo Switch are really a perfect match of frantic co-op cooking and a games console that’s all about taking games on the go and sharing them with people. Right now it’s difficult to wholeheartedly recommend this version though, given the widely reported frame rate issues. Here’s hoping they can cook up a fix sooner rather than later.
