    One of the best Monster Hunter games released, such an improvement over Monster Hunter World. The armor and weapon designs are mostly like the older games with unique and impressive designs. Gameplay is smooth and satisfying, can’t recommend enough, i hope this sells better than world.

Monster Hunter habe ich damals mal auf der PS2 abgezockt und bin erst mit MH World wieder eingestiegen, welches ich eine Zeit lang gespielt habe. Bei MHRISE war ich sehr gespannt, auf die vielen Neuerungen, wie das Reiten auf dem Palamute und die Seilkäfer, womit man neuerdings in ungeahnte Höhen kommt! Monster Hunter Rise starts of with a great introduction to the world where the characters shine like never before in any other Monster Hunter game. The graphics have to be one of the best looking games on the Nintendo Switch even on handheld mode. Even at the start of the game it's promising all the way through it's finale. The graphics have to be one of the best looking games on the Nintendo Switch even on handheld mode. Even at the start of the game it's promising all the way through it's finale. In the gameplay aspect in the past entries of Monster Hunter the game felt harder to grasp and each entry was a different challenge. In this entry of the series the weapons have never felt smoother and therefore faster. The animations are clean and spot on to what command you execute to be more effective on hunts. The story is simple and each character has it's own charm to add flavor to the story. The game has it's own Japanese- like culture that was the direct influence and it just adds to the charming aspect of the village. The palicos are as cute as ever , now even adding dog companions in to the mix to even further implement different play styles. There are so many different ways to approach each hunt to the point no hunt feels exactly the same which is extremely refreshing. If you are considering playing this game just for fun or because you are a fan you might love it as much as the hundreds of players currently hunting together.… Expand

    This is the first time I have actually given the opportunity to learn how to play a MH game and honestly I only regret not giving the opportunity sooner. I'm using the charge blade for most of my play. After finally learning how to pull off the combos I can guarantee that the satisfaction and feeling of achievement were well worth the effort.     Best Monster Hunter game so far. Takes all that’s good from the previous games, enhances them, introduces significant new stuff (wirebug, climbing, riding,...) and makes it all fast and fun to play solo or online on the TV or handheld.

    The game is great, but I felt the rampage a little irrelevant since you can't grind good itens from this New mode, it's Just a refreshing way to play. Wirebug is incredible.

Quita la paja del World de farmeo de huellas o ir andando a todos lados (ahora con un perro que además de ser más veloz no consume resistencia), y la mejora del online que puedes participar en las cacerías de tus amigos sin impedimentos por no completar la historia.     I know very few games deserve a 10 but in my opinion this game is just that. Only issue is that it isn't very beginner friendly but I won't give it a 9 for that. I've been playing the Monster Hunter series a while and that has really helped me in understanding the new mechanics and all the systems at play. This game has amazing graphics & aesthetics (for Switch), gameplay & performance isI know very few games deserve a 10 but in my opinion this game is just that. Also, this game is great to play solo or co-op. Please give it a shot.     Lo mejor que tiene Nintendo Switch, es espectacular que pueda correr esta obra de arte, y no soy ningún fan de Monster hunter, me gustan y ya, pero en este caso hay que aplaudir a CAPCOM por su increíble trabajo. Y a parte de lo gráfico, jugablemente 10/10, y ambientación, todo, me tiene enganchado.

    I am loving this game with a big fat exception, however it's hard for me to knock points off for this exception as it may be just because how much I played the older games. The problem I have is how easy the game is. I've yet to fail a quest due to carting and I've actually only carted in total 3 times. For people new to monster hunter this is a perfect game.     Best MH game to date. Finally are gone the unskippable cutscenes and the game is all about the gameplay. Sure the story of the MH games are not great, never has been and frankly, doesn't have to be. It's all about how detailed are the monster and how good the gameplay is. And the gameplay of the Rise is extremely well done. In previous games what people would do is just poke a monster hereBest MH game to date. It's all about how detailed are the monster and how good the gameplay is. And the gameplay of the Rise is extremely well done. In previous games what people would do is just poke a monster here and there until the big damage moves comes out and with the iteration of Wirebugs and how versatile they are and how much do they offer to every class the gameplay has changed a bit. You have multiple approaches before your high damage combos to the monster and multiple techniques to weaken the monster down instead of just poking. Slow weapon users can now jump out of the huge attack before the need of sheathing due to Wirebugs and the Palamute works great too and allows melee weapon users to sharpen their weapons on the chase of the monster. The gathering has been improved and doesn't take forever anymore. And the game looks very good considering it's on a weaker system. Really well done.… Expand

    Best monster hunter for noobs that are new to the hunting genre of games. Fast mobility, easier progression of enemies and an overall feeling of excitement despite the dated graphics. Fun on the go as well as playing with friends, this will be the best game to join in the fun of monster hunting!

    I was worried that after playing MHW that I would be disappointed with them going back to Nintendo, and boy was I wrong.     Played a little bit of MH World and couldn't get into it very much like other RPGs I've played. But with Rise, the quality of life enhancements and the overall flow of this game really clicked for me. The hype is real about the graphics and performance polish this game has for running on the Switch. And the overall natural animations, the cute voice-over, and the adorable interactions between you and your buddies are the perfect sauce for this dish. On handheld the 30 fps are perfectly fine (on a big screen I get a headache, like with every low fps game). I believe Switch games are optimized forReally cool what Capcom did with gameplay. It has a gorgeous, and with so much detail, art style with the paint drawings, picture mode, the UI and menus. The maps are realy interesting. Weapons never been more fun and accessible, which is a really remarkable feature when you consider that the wirebug seems ratherMonster Hunter rise improves in a lot o manners the MH experience. While it does greatly diversify the range of movement, it's a intuitive mechanic, granting this iteration a feeling that is not quite like either the old games or wod/iceborne.     I had no idea that a vice would hit me like the ones that I have not hit myself since I was little, I have more than 30 hours of play in 3 days and I can't stop. It is by far the best monster hunter I have tried in a long time and I have played all of them since 4.

    The combat is very fast and rewarding, a lot of the nasty grinding mechanics have been removed and the new string system is just great, it feels like playing spiderman.
    I recommend it 1000% whether you are a fan of the saga or not.

    El combate es muy rapido y gratificante, muchas de las mecanicas de grindeo desagradables se han eliminado y el nuevo sistema de cuerdas es simplemente genial, se siente como jugar spiderman.

    I LOVE this game, already hours of fun, I get what people are saying about the story but honestly I don't care about that as long as I can have a blast slaying these extremely fun, different, unique monsters. Plus it's one of the best running/looking games I have played in a long time. Even got more girlfriend into it, as far as customization and the dog (palamute) in it lol.     Increíble juegazo, su apartado grafico, su jugabilidad, su banda sonora son 10/10 verdaderamente una obra maestra, candidato al GOTY desde ya.

    Sencillamente, una obra maestra. no solo en la mecanica que han logrado mejorar muchisimo, sino en el apartado tecnico... increible lo que Capcom logro para una consola portatil. Comparar este juego con el World o cualquier otra plataforma es sencillamente estupido... Me ha encantado

    Might be the best Monster Hunter yet. Excellent set of monsters, excellent weapon and armor designs, great new improvements to the weapons, all the new monsters are excellent, just all around a great new installment. Graphics are excellent for a Switch game and performance is super smooth. Haven't obsessively played a Switch game like this since Hades.

    I have played every major Western release MH game since Monster Hunter Freedom on the PSP, and can say that Monster Hunter is one of my favorite game series. This is hands down my favorite of the series. I went from MHW to MHGU, and the QoL changes were very clear. They have taken out a lot of extra tedium, and it makes for a much smoother game overall. Combat has never been smoother, andI have played every major Western release MH game since Monster Hunter Freedom on the PSP, and can say that Monster Hunter is one of my favorite game series. This is hands down my favorite of the series. I went from MHW to MHGU, and the QoL changes were very clear. They have taken out a lot of extra tedium, and it makes for a much smoother game overall. Combat has never been smoother, and the new Wirebug feature makes combat so much faster. As an insect glaive main I was disappointed to find some pretty significant nerfs when compared to mhw/iceborn. Iceborn tried to compensate for this by making everything hit like a truck but that's not exactly what I'm looking for. MH Rise is wicked fun and the gameplay loop is addictive as all heck, this is a Monster Hunter game that you don't have to sink 300 hours into just to learn all of the mechanics properly, this new generation of Monster Hunter games are really something special, pick it up and enjoy the ride.… Expand

    Played the demo version only and honestly this my first monster hunter game ever. Loved the gameplay mechanics on the switchlite . Beautifully made from ground up for the switch. Played 30 hours on demo so gonnaa get the game soon

    Amazing game with interesting new mechanics!! Have put a lot of hours into this game and haven’t even beaten it! Just that much to do and have fun with in the game!

Monster Hunter Rise is the perfect balance between the QoL that made World the sales powerhouse that it was, mixed with the bright, over the top colors and weapons that GU was known for. While hunting styles are no more, switch skills and silkbind attacks have taken their place and even brought back some familiar moves that veteran hunters might remember.

    The setting is beautiful, map traversal is now more fun than ever with the additions of palamutes, gathering is a cinch, and there are plenty of secrets hidden around for those adept with the new wirebug mechanic added in this game.

    My biggest gripe with the game, however, is that upon finishing the high rank hub quests, the game ends rather abruptly; as though it was unfinished, and rushed to meet the March 26th release date. The weapon trees still have massive question marks at their end, talismans are a pain to farm for, and money seems to be the largest issue overall.

    I absolutely adore Monster Hunter Rise, but I feel as though it needed a bit more time in the oven.    … Expand

    Amazing game, I thought the magic died after 150hrs of world but this game surely brought it back. Have been playing nonstop doing even the fetch quest and I'm loving the music, Gameplay, everything! Kudos to Capcom let's hope they bring good dlc along the way.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game developers did a great job optimizing the game for the platform it’s on the Nintendo switch. Monster hunter rise maintains a solid 30fps no matter the situation. Even in multiplayer the frame rate is stable 30fps. Also let’s just say that this game is one the best graphical games on switch with all its details like the Foliage and monster textures. The gameplay is significantly better with increased movement speed with the palmutes and wire bug. To me the only downside was the main story was only 15 hours but The developers already announced they’ll be adding more monsters in April several in fact. Also a later update with the ending of the story and even more monsters. So I have little concerned that we won’t have a conclusive story at the end of the game cycle I will be looking forward for those updates.In my conclusion if you’re looking for a game with Solid gameplay and good multiplayer lasts hours with friends monster hunter rise game for you and switch.… Expand

    As someone who didn't care about Monster Hunter back when the series blew up with World in 2018, I absolutely fell in love with Rise. 4 days in, I'm already clocking in at around 30-35 hours. I can't put my controller down it's so addicting. Can't wait to explore more of Kamura.

    I have played a few monster hunter games, including World, MHGU, and Monster Hunter Tri, and Monster Hunter Rise is definitely the most fun in my opinion. I really like the new mechanics that have been added, I also appreciate that the developers returned to form with some of the armors and weapons.     Best Monster Hunter so far and I love how they finally improved your movement and way to traverse the map. No more loading screen in between location. Would highly recommend.

    Im not a critic, im not even an fluent english speaker but, i had to rate this game, it is awesome, im having a blast and i have yet to try the multiplayer.
    I played MHW until i got bored , and i can reslly say, even with the obvious graphical disadvantage, this game is freaking fun. Thats all i have to say, buy it, play it, love it!

    Basically everything good about the monster hunter series mechanically wise is here even the adept style in the dual blades (for better or worse) is still here and updated to new gimmick nicely, only problem is if your coming from MHWORLD then the graphics are not at that level or as smooth.     Una versión mucho mas sencilla de lo que es MHW, con gameplay y estética que recuerdan al Monster Hunter de la PSP. El juego es bastante accesible para jugadores casuales.

    Mi única queja es la parte del tutorial, me parece demasiado tediosa, sería deseable que pudiera ser deshabilitada para los jugares con experiencia previa.

    I don’t remember being so addicted to a MH game since MH3, I got bored of world really son and the online was the slowest thing ever. Now everything is faster and to the point. You don’t need to grind or farm until you are in the HR6 or so. Really excited for the April update, and future free updates after that. Minimum 30h to complete the main history pre April patch at least. It may seems like the game is short but is not, you move faster than ever, the first half of the game is super easy for veterans, and the loading times never go over 10 sec at most.     This game is just incredible. Again a vast amount of improvements i didn't know i wanted or needed. This is game feels like how I remember MH Freedom Unite, which is incredible since that for me represents a childhood game I have invested 1000h+ into. Love it!

    I picked this up as my second Monster Hunter game, i had MHGU but never really got into it. Overall it was a really fun game and i put alot of hours into it, however it felt very short and the ending was very abrupt. Still well worth the money and very enjoyable to play and i am hoping for a DLC soon, because i'll buy it instantly.

I've completed the normal game and half of iceborne, I got a little board and the game wasn't appealing to me anymore. Until the the release of rise. World was my entry game and rise got me to love the series even more. The game works incredibly on the switch and it's my new favorite game to waste time on.     This is a great game!. I am new in the franchise (started with MH4U for 3DS). I have been playing MHW (PC) in recent years and I can say this MHR is as great as MHW and even better for beginners with the quality of life improvements Capcom included in this release. I am surprised how great this game looks and plays on the N Switch.

    A cada versão nova a Capcom consegue refinar ainda mais essa franquia. Em MHR toda a mecânica dos games lançados para os consoles Nintendo foi melhorado com algumas excelentes mecânicas do MHW. Para mim é o melhor Monster Hunter de toda a franquia.

    Honest to goodness there are tons of positive reviews for MH Rise and I get it. But there are a number of relevant issues with the game on release. That's a terrible sign, and one that doesn't bode well to its overall potential compared to other games in the MH series.

    In previous MH titles players could use literally any controller available for their respective systems. That's a terrible sign, and one that doesn't bode well to its overall potential compared to other games in the MH series.

    In previous MH titles players could use literally any controller available for their respective systems. Now that the fancy new bug-grapple is in, the GCN controller and possibly others are out. The real culprit is the button mapping, as there's also a new "ride monster" button (note: any other attack button also lets players ride monsters!) that must be mapped at all times, leaving GCN players no way to map every button they need in order to play the game properly with their controller of choice.

    Furthermore, maybe you're not an otaku or a shogun from the medieval time period and don't thoroughly enjoy listening to long-winded Japanese lyrical music on repeat. The game's audio in its start menu, hubworld and village exclusively offer this and little else - a stark difference to every previous installment's largely instrumental and iconic soundtracks. The equivalent of a Japanese nursery rhyme is included as well for the meal system, and it's there every time you forget to skip it. Dr. Seuss makes a cameo introducing players to their new hunting areas. Muting the audio and skipping every cutscene feels criminal after having listened to the in-game soundtracks on repeat since MH:Tri for the Wii. What on earth happened here?

    Then there's the multiplayer: everyone gets a dog to both hunt with and traverse on (wouldn't 250+ lbs be hard to lift for a dog? Nitpicking, granted) as well as a short-range bug grapple hook with a per-use cooldown that can be integrated into weapon attacks and combos and lets players go virtually anywhere in the game. Collecting items is way faster as players can collect most items while sprinting and without stopping - ON their new dogs! And thanks to said dogs plus the removal of the zone system a la World the game's overall pacing is vastly quickened, albeit at the cost of making the experience more frantic and less immersive.

    These changes are all somewhat interesting and stay fresh when questing with another player...but when 4 dogs, 4 players, 5+ velociprey, a Kulu-Ya-Ku, a Barroth and a partridge in a pear tree are on screen at once and characters talk over eachother whenever a monster so much as scratches its own dong "a bit messy" serves as a euphemism at best. Conversely, everyone spread out across all four corners of the map while doing their own thing is hardly a multiplayer experience. Winning aside, the game can become largely unplayable for those that keep getting their actions interrupted back-to-back by the 10+ entities on screen. Later on in ranks this will change as monsters become larger (except when targeting weak spots!) but for the average 3-4 player quest it is an utter eyesore and chaotic in arguably the worst way imaginable: a stark contrast to the crisp and polished gameplay of the vast majority of MH titles in the past.

    Despite all of this it's a mostly solid game, and hopefully patches will improve it. That being said, it deserves nothing close to the scores of past MH games, at least for a $60 title on launch. Most of its new features and design decisions are objectively experimental and niche, leaving the experience at the moment on the nose rather than on point like the rest of the MH series.    … Expand

    I’m impressed by how well the developers thought this game through. Rise simultaneously improves the formula used in World and makes Monster Hunter more friendly towards newcomers. It makes great use of Switch’s nature and by clearly separating the multiplayer from the single-player campaign, it ensures you’re going to have fun regardless of the circumstances. Apart from one subpar mode (which imitates a tower defense), it’s an amazing game. [06/2021, p.42]
