    Metroid Dread is a truly epic return for Samus Aran. After 19 years we finally have a fresh new game to sink out teeth into. I have only ever finished 4 Metroid games and those being Metroid on the NES, Fusion, Zero mission and Samus Returns. So I can say I'm a huge fan of the series.

    Metroid Dread is definitely one of the hardest Metroid games in the series and sometimes it left me    Metroid Dread is a truly epic return for Samus Aran. After 19 years we finally have a fresh new game to sink out teeth into. I have only ever finished 4 Metroid games and those being Metroid on the NES, Fusion, Zero mission and Samus Returns. So I can say I'm a huge fan of the series.

    Metroid Dread is definitely one of the hardest Metroid games in the series and sometimes it left me downright furious sometimes because of the constant deaths from the EMMI encounters. But once you actually get the arm cannon power to destroy an EMMI it is deeply satisfying. Once I killed my first EMMI I screamed at my TV in excitement. Something I haven't felt since playing Demon Souls on the PS3.

    Each area of Dread feels like a new path each and every time. It kept the overall game fresh all steps of the way and I never got bored going into each new area. It was genuinely fun to explore each and every area to find new secrets. I was a bit disappointed to see that the scan pulse from Samus Returns didnt make it into Dread but I feel that without the scan pulse it encourages the old "bomb the floor and shoot everything" approach at finding hidden breakable blocks just as we did in older Metroid titles.

    Another thing I should mention that this is the first Metroid game to run at 60 frames per second since Metroid: Other M on the Wii. And it is a sight to behold. The gameplay itself runs at a solid 60FPS at all times. But cutscenes are capped at 30FPS. Otherwise the games performance is rock solid in both portable and docked mode.

    My final thoughts are if you are old or new to the Metroid series you will enjoy this game either way, But newer fans might be a bit confused on the lore if they decide to play Dread first. Luckily the games initial opening cutscene catches you up from what happened in Fusion so you aren't completely left in the dark. It does a decent job at explaining the Metroid DNA fusion with Samus among other things. Just go out and buy it, this game had the same quality as other Nintendo titles and feels right at home in any collection.    … Expand

    De maneira geral, Samus Returns tornou toda a experiência de Metroid mais ágil e a própria Mercury Steam repete a dose com mais intensidade em Dread. A nova aventura de Samus Aran é um título que honra o próprio legado, mas em alta velocidade – e com muita tensão.

    Phenomenal Metroid game. Very few flaws. High difficulty, but fair. Tight controls. Good music. Epic engaging boss battles. Great visuals and atmosphere. This is why the genre is called METROIDvania. Better than Super Metroid? It's a tough call, but I'm leaning towards yes. Yes, really.

    It is appreciated how mercurysteam managed to bring this generation to this metroid, using everything learned from the metroid II samus return and improving it in all aspects, just maybe the soundtrack could be better but it smells like a competition to goty 2021

    As a metroid fan, this is all i could ever ask for, the movement and combat are pretty much perfect, the exposition doesn't get annoying, the bosses are stellar, the story specially in the ending sequence was really of my liking, and that ending sequence is just fantastic, very glad Nintendo didn't let down and i'm curious to know how this beauty of a franchise will live on. Only gripesAs a metroid fan, this is all i could ever ask for, the movement and combat are pretty much perfect, the exposition doesn't get annoying, the bosses are stellar, the story specially in the ending sequence was really of my liking, and that ending sequence is just fantastic, very glad Nintendo didn't let down and i'm curious to know how this beauty of a franchise will live on. Only gripes with the game is the now dated exploration system, which works fine but it can really get you lost at times and the fact that you sometimes get temporarily softlocked out of alternative paths, i don't mind these details, and i don't think many people do, but have a friend or guide at hand for when you really get stuck, otherwise it's straightforward enough to complete 100% blind. If you liked Super Metroid, Hollow Knight, or just like exploration and immersion in general, this game is for you.… Expand

    From all the Metroids (all) and Metroidvanias i played, this one is the worse Metroid and just a medicore Metroidvania.

    Way to hard, way to repetetive, the controls are aweful, the map looks confusing, graphics are ok-ish and the playtime isn't worth the price, especially not for a 2D game. Sometimes you even have to find secrets to find your way. SECRETS to PROGRES. Srsly?

    Their stealth/chase sections are daunting, dread-inducing and off-putting to the new player, lead to many cheap one-hit deaths, yet for the seasoned veteran you can pretty much run to where you need to go without any danger of being captured or killed - for the most part anyway.

    Stealth sections shouldn't be something you can blitz through by sprinting through with zero f**ks given. That's the hallmarks of a bad stealth game masquerading as an action-adventure game, which reminds me a lot of Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets, except Metroid Dread has a very competently built Metroidvania beneath the surface.

    It shouldn't be counter-intuitive to sneak around and survey the situation, especially when that's far more likely to impede your progress and put you in danger.

    Most of the E.M.M.I are manageable for seasoned players. White is only a challenge because you don't unlock the Phantom Cloak until after it's dead, while Green, Yellow, even Blue can be eluded with relative ease if you know what you're doing.

    Purple E.M.M.I is without doubt the worst foe you'll face. It can see through walls, has incredible sight & hearing, and the moment you enter its domain, you had better make damn sure to haul ass and expend your Phantom Cloak for as long as possible, because one slip-up, and this thing will catch up to you and jam its blade into your sternum faster than you can say "What the f**k?"    … Expand

    Hace 8 años conocí Super Metroid. El juego que me haría conocer la saga, y desde entonces jugué el resto y espere pacientemente por una nueva entrega. La emoción que me ha hecho sentir este juego al tenerlo por fin en mis manos es indescriptible, no me imagino como se sentirán los fans más veteranos de la saga. El control y la respuesta del mismo, la movilidad y la fluidez, el sigiloHace 8 años conocí Super Metroid. El juego que me haría conocer la saga, y desde entonces jugué el resto y espere pacientemente por una nueva entrega. La emoción que me ha hecho sentir este juego al tenerlo por fin en mis manos es indescriptible, no me imagino como se sentirán los fans más veteranos de la saga. El control y la respuesta del mismo, la movilidad y la fluidez, el sigilo (quizá el único aspecto a mejorar, pero aun así, muy disfrutable). He llorado de la alegría con este juego, y no puedo hacer más que darle un 10 personalmente.     Thank you so much to Mercury Studios and Nintendo, Metroid Dread right now is the best game ever I played it, the fun and the challenge definitely gives me the most satisfying time, everybody has to play it.

    THE best 2D Metroid game ever, hands down. Gameplay is amazing, story is great and engaging, music and atmosphere is just cheff kiss. Everything is just masterfully crafted game. This is what a game feels like when given to the right people to make it. I absolutely adore how cinematic it is and the voice acting and everything just makes you feel like a total badass. I could simp all day,THE best 2D Metroid game ever, hands down. Gameplay is amazing, story is great and engaging, music and atmosphere is just cheff kiss. Everything is just masterfully crafted game. Sorry wait 10 mins first. Die against a boss? Best watch the cut scene again. The game itself is no better than the average indie 2D platformer and a lot worse than most. It Should cost $10 and not $50. This is just Nintendo milking it’s IP, there’s nothing new or impressive here, save your money.… Expand

    Seré sincero. Solo he jugado dos juegos de la saga Metroid.
    A saber, Super Metroid, y Metroid Fusion.
    Ambos me encantaron, por lo que implica el género. Por la ambientación. Por la tensión, y la inmersión. Y claro, el backtracking. Por ello, puedo decir que esta entrega superó con creces mis expectativas... Es el juego que esperaba y mas, y en mi humilde opinión, esta a la altura de sus    Seré sincero. Solo he jugado dos juegos de la saga Metroid.
    A saber, Super Metroid, y Metroid Fusion.
    Ambos me encantaron, por lo que implica el género. Por la ambientación. Por la tensión, y la inmersión. Y claro, el backtracking.

    Me quedo sin palabras ante el regreso de mi caza recompensas favorita, Samus Aran. Excelente trabajo que han realizado Nintendo y Mercury Steam. Los movimientos de Samus son muy fluidos, controles adecuados. Desde el comienzo del juego te atrapa por la inmersión que te da y esto es muy importante, no deja de ser un Metroid. En muchos de los casos debes estar atento de como avanzar y eso esMe quedo sin palabras ante el regreso de mi caza recompensas favorita, Samus Aran. Excelente trabajo que han realizado Nintendo y Mercury Steam. Los movimientos de Samus son muy fluidos, controles adecuados. Desde el comienzo del juego te atrapa por la inmersión que te da y esto es muy importante, no deja de ser un Metroid.     Great game all around. Visuals, Frame rate and sound. Only complaint is that the controls are hard to get used to. Definitely up there with BOTW and some of the other greats specifically made for the the Switch.

    Gran final para el arco argumental de Samus con los metroid, excelente jugabilidad y un diseño artístico a la altura, Mercury Steam hizo un gran trabajo con este juego mejorando lo logrado con Samus returns, totalmente recomiendo comprar el juego.

    The game is a love letter to long time fans, this wasn’t my first metroid, it is fun to see the progression of the gameplay of the metroid franchise It feel new and familiar at the same time, definitely one of the best metroid games

    Played over 20hrs and I can say it was one of the best experiences I had. Been waiting for a proper continuation to Fusion and we got it. If you want to play the best of Super and Fusion this is the game for you can't recommend it enough!

Simplemente un juego impresionante, desde pequeño no tenia esa sensación al jugar algo (me traslado a la época en la que mi papa me regalo una gameboy SP con el juego de metroid). La dificultad es buena, quisas para los mas veteranos satisfactoria, pero no se desanimen, para los nuevos jugadores, de verdad es un juego de 10, gráficamente es bueno y si te gusta el estilo del juego vas alucinar. One thing to be aware of if you play in handheld a lot or are a Switch lite owner is that Dread is a veryEasy 10/10, this is undoubtedly the best Metroid game, Mercury Steam has outdone themselves, the fluid movement, the amazing atmosphere, fantastic story and somehow making a permadeath fun. This is one of the few games that I am at a loss for words you really just need to play it. One thing to be aware of if you play in handheld a lot or are a Switch lite owner is that Dread is a very resource-intensive game a launch date switch only lasts 1.5-2 hours on a full charge, not a deal-breaker just something to be aware of.… Expand

    He sido un gran fan de metroid desde hace mas de 25 años, este juego esta a la altura del legado de la franquicia, una juego que mantiene sus señas de identidad y que a la vez se siente fresco y moderno una carta de amor para los fans y las nuevas generaciones. En lo jugable este juego es simplemente sublime, samus se controla mejor que nunca, con una agilidad impresionante, el sistema deHe sido un gran fan de metroid desde hace mas de 25 años, este juego esta a la altura del legado de la franquicia, una juego que mantiene sus señas de identidad y que a la vez se siente fresco y moderno una carta de amor para los fans y las nuevas generaciones. En lo jugable este juego es simplemente sublime, samus se controla mejor que nunca, con una agilidad impresionante, el sistema de contrataque es muy bueno es un sistema de riesgo - recompensa que resulta tremendamente satisfactorio. Hay muchos jefes, la mayoría impresionantes, variados y desafiantes como ellos mismo. Los emmis le dan un nuevo giro al juego, con secciones de persecución y sigilo muy bien implementadas, realmente se siente la tensión al enfrentarte a un emmi. Me gusta mucho que el juego no te indica a donde ir, sin embargo, si te da pistas sutiles para que no te pierdas tan fácilmente, además la sensación clásica de exploración esta garantizada. En cuanto a historia, simplemente sensacional, llena de referencias a entregas previas y con final simplemente epico, ya estoy deseando saber como sería una secuela de este y cual sería la trama a explorar. En cuanto a gráficos simplemente soberbio, aminaciones de excelente calidad, cinemáticas de mucha calidad y un estilo artístico y visual precioso. La banda sonora esta compuesta por temas en su mayoría nuevos y muchas piezas ambientales, en general cumple su objetivo sin llegar a ser sobresaliente este apartado. Otro punto a destacar es la elevada dificultad del juego, este juego es un desafío considerable que invita que jueges bien y aprendas todas las mecánicas del juego y las aproveches a tu favor. Por ultimo me gustaría aclarar sobre la duración del juego, en mi primera partida tarde 7 horas en terminarlo con el 40% de objetos, completarlo al 100% me tomo alrededor de 12 horas y ahora estoy en mi segunda partida en modo difícil, el juego tiene varias galerías de arte secretas como incentivo para rejugarlo. Sin duda alguna el mejor juego en lo que va del 2021.… Expand

Una jugabilidad increíble, entretenida, con momentos de tensión y que te motivan a explorar cada rincón para obtener todos los item. Me siento como un niño de nuevo. Se siente genial volver a tener esos niveles 2D luego de la trilogia Prime. Mejora muchos aspectos de los juegos clásicos.Un juego espectacular. Por mucho tiempo esperé un nuevo Metroid y ahora ha vuelto en gloria y majestad. Una jugabilidad increíble, entretenida, con momentos de tensión y que te motivan a explorar cada rincón para obtener todos los item. Me siento como un niño de nuevo.     Una auténtica maravilla. Da gusto encontrar videojuegos de verdad, de los de antes. Gráficos espectaculares, con unos entornos del planeta y unos enemigos y bosses increíbles de ver en la pantalla de Switch. Una jugabilidad perfecta, el control de Samus es una gozada y por último una dificultad perfectamente ajustada. Por ponerle un pero, la banda sonora no está al nivel de anterioresUna auténtica maravilla. Da gusto encontrar videojuegos de verdad, de los de antes. Gráficos espectaculares, con unos entornos del planeta y unos enemigos y bosses increíbles de ver en la pantalla de Switch. Una jugabilidad perfecta, el control de Samus es una gozada y por último una dificultad perfectamente ajustada.     Metroid dread it´s my 2D favorite but this has 3 bad things : 1) Chozo memories: Man i hate this thing of lore chozo is not in the game is an extra and bored way to show this important info i dont like this in samus returns its a waste material for exploration reward in the game.

    2) For me the rewards by beat the game in time record its too retro for this new era of search actions like    Metroid dread it´s my 2D favorite but this has 3 bad things : 1) Chozo memories: Man i hate this thing of lore chozo is not in the game is an extra and bored way to show this important info i dont like this in samus returns its a waste material for exploration reward in the game.

    2) For me the rewards by beat the game in time record its too retro for this new era of search actions like the system of extra life in plataforms games is obsolete.

    3) In consecuencie 1-2 points, the game is short, explorations limits only in items, the game try to expand with new items like E tank parts and + missiles but its the same less emotions for exploration rewards. not has secrets areas or extras bosses besides in the main story.

    I love Dread and i hope the next sakamoto´s metroid games leave the retro formula and take more things of Metroid prime like scan info of creatures/lore and rewards explorations like the new era of indies search actions games. AND i need a DLC boss rush rigth now.    … Expand

    The game was everything I hoped it would be. The atmosphere was amazing, and the music was original while also including some great remix’s
    The gameplay was also phenomenal. All the upgrades were amazing, and every upgrade was used in a meaningful way. Best 2d Metroid for me, I loved it

    Surprised this is a switch game, makes me excited for Metroid as a franchise and the switch being able to play games that are usually process intense with some optimization, and the quality being much hi other when a hardware update releases, one of the best Metroids I’ve got to play.

Do not give any attention to these 0 reviews, these people are simply bad at gaming, they can go play .. Kirby if they want a breeze lol The game is perfectly balanced. There is basically nothing to complain about. The complains about the emmis are invalid as these are just a very small portion of the game, perfectly balanced also here. Game is generally challenging but not unfair, graphics are pretty good (especially for a switch game, still cannot believe that this gem is running at 60fps), controls are pitch-perfect, movement is as fluid as ever, abilities are top-notch. It shows that the devs put a lot of love and thought to this game, exactly as they should for a franchise such as Metroid. Some bosses are kinda tough but as soon as you find their pattern, they are pretty doable. I just wished the game was a little longer, I didnt wanted it to finish basically. The game is easily worth the $60. Do not compare this gem to other metroidvanias, its one of a kind. This is a must have for any proper gamer.    … Expand

    The game plays beautifully, and the exploration aspect is as good as it ever was. Even the EMMI zones, despite being stressful, are enjoyable and the mix of stealth and running for your sweet life is at its core fun and never feels unfair. Unfortunately, after the first couple of boss fights... everything completely falls apart. Any progress you make is constantly stopped by boss afterThe game plays beautifully, and the exploration aspect is as good as it ever was. Even the EMMI zones, despite being stressful, are enjoyable and the mix of stealth and running for your sweet life is at its core fun and never feels unfair. Unfortunately, after the first couple of boss fights... everything completely falls apart. Any progress you make is constantly stopped by boss after boss after boss thrown at you and you're forced to grind the same fight until your thumbs bleed or just stop playing altogether. The latter of which is what I did some midway through the game, feeling robbed and cheated. It's also painfully obvious the boss fights are only needlessly difficult for the sake of being difficult, the difficulty itself serving no storytelling purpose, but rather working against it by repeatedly taking the player out of the adventure to stare at the Game Over screen and then watch the same cutscene for the millionth time, or just skip it until you no longer remember what it was even about.

    An otherwise excellent game being ruined by one incredibly stupid, yet clearly deliberate design choice is utterly baffling. It's not fair to condemn the game because of this, but the fact remains it's quite literally unplayable for casual audiences yet doesn't tell you that until later in the game, and the score should reflect that more than anything.    … Expand

In a world with lots of cinematic narrative games, Metroid Dread was a breath of fresh air. At times brutal, but never unfairly, the game will challenge all but a gaming savant. Living up to its name, entering EMMI zones definitely inspires a sense of dread, and the boss fights andAbsolutely fantastic game that demonstrates that some approaches to game design never go out of fashion. In a world with lots of cinematic narrative games, Metroid Dread was a breath of fresh air. At times brutal, but never unfairly, the game will challenge all but a gaming savant. Living up to its name, entering EMMI zones definitely inspires a sense of dread, and the boss fights and hidden items will test (perhaps aging like mine) reflexes.

    The presentation of the game is stellar, and after the character assassination of Samus in Other M, Dread finally presents one of gaming's leading ladies in a way befitting of someone who is billed as an intergalactic badass. Despite running on the Switch, the game looks aesthetically pleasing and for the most part runs at a smooth framerate. The music could be better, and while serviceable isn't very memorable. It lacks the melodic punch of past entries. It's the sole reason I didn't award a 10.

    Don't be mislead by How Long To Beat times: displayed run times don't count restarts. It took me a weekend of solid binging to finish the game. The timer showed around 9 hours. And now that I've finished it, I want to go back and play it again. In some ways, it's ruined other games for me. I've had so much fun playing this, feeling like a little kid again, that I don't want to look at other recent affairs. Truly one of the standouts of the year for me, and easily one of the best games on Switch.    … Expand

    After 19 long years Samus is back and it’s an absolutely beautiful comeback. The gameplay is buttery smooth, it runs at 60 FPS, it’s one of the most visually impressive games on the switch and it manages to achieve what it sets out to do. You do feel constant Dread while in the Emmy zones. The game is difficult and I can see casual gamers or newcomers to the Metroid franchise to beAfter 19 long years Samus is back and it’s an absolutely beautiful comeback. The gameplay is buttery smooth, it runs at 60 FPS, it’s one of the most visually impressive games on the switch and it manages to achieve what it sets out to do. You do feel constant Dread while in the Emmy zones. The game is difficult and I can see casual gamers or newcomers to the Metroid franchise to be overwhelmed by the labyrinthian ant-hole type map and the emmi encounters and boss fights but I hope they stick around cause it gets better and better the more you play it.     Metroid Dread se excede totalmente en su control, es sin duda el mejor entre los metroidvanias, cabe destacar que el apartado visual, banda sonora, sonido e historia del juego no se quedan atrás, ya que a mi parecer son excelentes.

    Este ultimo apartado, no solo hereda todo el nivel y drama de Metroid Fusion, si no que lo expande y lo mejora con un guion muy bueno para lo que acostumbra a la saga.

    Venia con miedo de que este juego no fuese a mantener las expectativas que mantenía desde hace casi 20 años... Pero las ha superado totalmente.

    The game is fast paced similar to the older metroid games. It still promotes exploration by not giving clear directions in the ttpical metroid fashion. Halfway through the game already felt great and finishing it at 100% should be more satisfactory. The visuals were great and at 60fps o theswitch which was surprisung.     La duración es la que tiene que tener. Todo bien en ese aspecto.

    Si me pongo super gilipollito diría que me gustarían todavía más cinemáticas (que el juego ya tiene), y todavía más desarrollo de la historia. Sé que esto es más característico de la saga Prime, pero me da igual.

    En fin es una excelente forma de iniciarte con Metroid. Hay una intro, te ponen al día.

    After nearly 2 decades since the last new entry in the 2D Metroid, Mercury Steam have done the seemingly impossible. They surpassed Super Metroid.
    Metroid Dread is the new Standard not only for the Metroid series but all of Metroidvania going forward.All we now can hope is that Metroid Dread sells well enough for Nintendo to Greenlight the next Metroid.

    Great return to new adventure from Nintendo and Mercury Steam. This game is pushing the switch but it is also optimize for the system no day one patch! Controls get bit of getting used to but Samus moves smooth especially with the new Slide move.

    Hell of a game from start to finish. Heart beat finally back to normal after finishing off all of the E.M.M.I.s. Easily the best Metroid has ever been and puts other games in its genre to shame.

    Seriously, this is 2021 and when I die in the middle of collecting upgrades, it is unacceptable to lose half an hour of gameplay just because I didn't go through one of those manual save stations.

Like the first ambience/song when you start playing. It makes the setting so good. Emmi sound design is sick too. How can you make that cute beep to do a dready ambience setting and plus being a sort of song? It's crazy and mind-blowing.
    There are actually songs too, lots of, and they are sooo good. They are growing on me very fast and on the top list of Metroid songs

    -The map design it's perfect too. How can you fulfill super Metroid hardcore fans with it's ultra criptic map, and encourage newcomers to finish that kind of experience? Mind-blowing too. It didn't take much long for me to know the routes cuz I'm a ultra Metroid fanboy jaja but I understand the direction they went and I'm happy about it. Now in 2021 everyone can become a Metroid fan! And That's what Samus needs

    Video game puro sem querer ser filme ou anime, a essencia de metroid intacta , com novos recursos visuais fantasticos, som perfeito e uma jogabilidade suplema, ou quem quer se divertir com games esse é indespensavel, ainda bem que a nintendo para nos trazer um tipo de desafio como.

Por otra parte elNo se que decir realmente, dejando de lado el fanatismo realmente metroid dread ha sido con diferencia el mejor metroid de su clase, el gameplay es entretenido, los controles son fluidos y responsivos, la latencia de fps es constante la mayor parte del tiempo, visualmente es increible y demuestra el gran potencial que tiene mercurysteam para hacer un metroid a toda regla. Por otra parte el juego al igual que muchos del genero search action (metroidvanias) no es tan intuitivo a la hora de progresar con la historia y muchas veces uno puede perderse en el enorme mapa pero no por eso significa que sea un mal juego al contrario es un juego que vale la pena intentar.

    tengo 10 horas jugadas y he sacado el 100% de objetos, por mi parte recomiendo este juego siempre y cuando estén dispuestos a seguir adelante con la historia    … Expand

    Super Spiel an sich, aber durch die emmis nervt es mich so sehr das ich kein bock hab ab der Hälfte des Spiels weiterzuspielen und dadurch kann ich auch nicht mehr Punkte geben . Ohne emmis wäre es eine 10,so halt eine 0. gibt besseres auf dem Markt, für weniger geld

Considering that, Dread does a great job of combining the new modern combat with the old elements of research and advancement, and it doesn't hurt that we have some of the best boss fights in the series. A true gem and a must have for all Switch gamers.

    Taking up the torch of a series interrupted nineteen years ago is never an easy task, but the MercurySteam studio is doing it with honors! The developers have chosen the path of security while perfectly respecting the spirit of the previous episodes, to the detriment of true modernity.
