The game is fun and we'll ballanced for the first couple of hours. Then the difficulty spikes to a ridiculous amount and all the games flaws shine through. Little Witch Nobeta is nothing special. It does nothing better than any other number of games I could name. Its gameplay becomes fairly stale the moment you realise how truly limited your options are, there’s no sense of character building beyond flat stat upgrades, and the level variety is so stale that if not for some puzzles, I would have been convinced that the levels were randomly generated. The game has some love put into it with the unlockable costumes and the small lore tidbits, but I just can’t recommend this to anyone who’s played a souls/ soulslike game before. Sure it’s fairly cheap, but there’s no shortage of cheap (and better) soulslikes.

We found Little Witch Nobeta to be a simple but fun game. Its gameplay is engaging and its progression system is very good. However, the lack of enemy variety beyond the bosses and the lack of support for the Nintendo Switch's gyroscope are some of its weaknesses.

Little Witch Nobeta is a surprisingly fun little indie Souls-like title. It has charm and challenge in equal bags, and it even pulls off a competent, if slightly oddly translated, story. It isn't Dark Souls but fans of the genre would be remiss to pass on this game, especially if they like cutesy anime witches. Thoroughly recommended.
