Ignore the bad reviews. The portability of this game is fantastic and the gameplay is as smooth, if not better (imo) than on the PS4 or XBOX.

If graphics are your concern then I'm sorry, but the rest of the game is top notch.

Great game. Most of the mediocre reviews say that it is not Fifa 18 for the XBone / PS4. Well, duh, of course it is not, it's a portable system with a dock to put it on the big screen and hardly has the power an XBone or PS4 has. However: it is great on the go and I can finally play a quick match with a friend during a break or a boring train ride, which you can't with the console variant.Great game. Content wise it has more than enough for the money, even though it doesn't have all the modes the console version has.

So: if you own a PS4 or XBone, depending on whether you are more interested in more modes / better graphics or being able to play wherever you want: get one version or the other.

If you only have the Switch or are looking for a great foodball game for on the go: Fifa 18 is close to perfect. The only thing that isn't great is online, as it is crippled (no invite, no voicechat ...) by Nintendo's stupid online policies.

However, as reviews take points out for stupid reasons, I felt free to give it 10 points despite not being perfect, but rather better than some reviews make it sound like.

If you find this game frustrating git gud. I've been playing all manner of football games on all manner of consoles since the 8 bit days. Worldwide Soccer 97' on Saturn. International Superstar Soccer and World Cup 98 on N64. ISS '98 on PS1. The first Pro Evo on PS2. Sensible Soccer on AMIGA. FIFA on Megadrive, Pro Evo on Wii etc. etc. I try to give every footie game a fair go.

Fifa 18 on Switch met my expectations and then some. I don't know why EA withheld early review copies; it possibly hurt sales.

Gameplay runs at a stable 60fps and feels responsive. Every touch matters. Players with inferior stats respond worse, visa-versa. It's fun to play and challenging, and its easy to pull off chips, long balls, feigns, skills etc. having a vast array of options when on the ball and off.

There's a lot of Real Madrids and Barcelonas online, but being matched against lesser teams makes for some hearty games. In any case, it plays smoothly and I've had many enjoyable online league matches, with a great variety in the goals scored.

The training mode is useful and has a points leaderboard for every drill, to compete against other Fifa 18 players on your friends list. I already have around 10 people on the list who got the game, and rising.

All in all, this is a good game. It feels polished. It's far superior to the other Switch football title: Super Sidekicks (which has shallow arcade gameplay and is forgettable) and I can play it in my bed. For a portable football game it is amazing. It's a decent crack. The main complaints are coming from spoiled brats who don't recognize a good thing when they see one.

There are the other boons of the FIFA license including authentic team-specific chants, which add to the immersion. Controls can be customized. It has a solid career mode. This to me feels like a console version, with no gimmicks in sight and looks nice and crisp in handheld.

A good effort from EA whose other Nintendo outings left a lot to be desired frankly. One more thing. People who complain about graphics don't understand optimization. It's a tiny system. If it ran PS4 graphics, you'd get 20 minutes battery life. There has to be a trade off. Same reason everything other than gameplay is locked at 30 fps.

Another amazing sport game for the Switch (NBA 2K18). Most people compare this version with the one of PS4 and XBOX One thus considering it inferior... and in terms of graphic fidelity that is unquestionable but the portability is a big +. Excellent game!

The graphics are good to be honest, not PS4 or XBox One level but WAY better than PS3 or 360. This is the only version you can play on the go and I always have a blast playing with my friends in college, its incredible honestly. The reason I give it a 9 is because there is no online with friends, it doesnt have the journey either but I dont care about that

This game is just perfect for on the go, i wish you could make the Games a bit shorter because a match still takes 10 minutes each half to finish, Ultimate team on the go i perfect. I don't miss the singleplayer remember fifa had never a story mod since recently so why would you miss it?

But they still ask 60$ that's overpriced give it 40$ and it's perfect.

Not normally a fan of EA games but this is actually a pretty solid FIFA game. Plays well on the handheld and is without a doubt the best handheld football game ever made. Shame that you can't play a friend on UT but apart from that it's solid. Well worth a look in for all football fans that own a Switch.

I won't go into all the features (as I'm sure most fans of the series are aware of what's in it and what has been left out) - the core thing for me is that there is a career mode, an ultimate team mode, but most importantly it plays and looks great!

This morning I download the Switch version and must say it feels great to play and wonder why if feels so much better to play. I ask my son this afternoon to play with the playstation against me and then we played a game with the switch and he likes to play with the switch, maybe it was the controller, but he said it has lesses lag? I wonder why but it seems the split second ball control, the pass, shooting with the fifa playstation version feels for him some kind of lag.

Stil the graphics on the PSN look better, but the switch is nog bad and when you play it's not notable anymore. I still play fifa on the vita ,so maybe I'm easyly happy.

I wanted to give a 8 first because of it graphis , but the better gameplay and comparing the graphics with other games we have on the switch it's a 8,5 and so I decided to give it a 9

The best thing I can say about this version is that it's hard to tell the difference between this and FIFA 17 for PS4. But is freaking mobile. EA has done a tremendous job on this one, it looks "great" (worse then PS4 ofc) but you get to take it with you. If you don't care about the Journey and aren't obsessed about all the modes, this will be a great experience.

The critic reviews for this game have been approached wrongly. Yes you can compare the game to PS4/Xbox to a degree, but I think after a point, you have to realise that this is a different prospect completely. It's FIFA on the go. And it's brilliant. It plays really well and looks great. Easily the best portable football game I've ever had my hands on.

    Maybe when reviewing the PS4

I've been playing it every other day since it came out and the AI alone provides enough of a challenge to last you for many hours as you go through championship divisions. It is different in terms of mechanics to other stand alone console versions (I'm looking at you PS4 and XBone) but its not so different you would have to start again.

I've been playing FIFA since 1994, and its still the same old thing most of us are interested in playing. That is either playing with your own favourite teams/nations, building your own team in FUT, or leading your own player through to them competing in top flight football.

All of those mechanics work and whats more is that they work on a mobile platform that by far and away blows out any other mobile version of FIFA since FIFA14. My only gripe is that so much of the game including FUT itself requires an internet connection. This is problematic when you're really out on the road by yourself or with friends.

The vast majority of magazines and websites who have reviewed this game have looked at it the wrong way. It never was meant to be a direct competitor to the PS4 and XBone versions of FIFA, at least not this time round. We don't know quite yet what to expect for FIFA19.

I buy FIFA every year and I don’t feel let down this year getting it on switch. In fact I feel I’ll play it even more. The controls are very tight. The ai is much improved since 2017 and the flow is so much more balanced. It’s missing the journey, which, to me, doesn’t matter. I play online and local seasons. As a manager. I don’t care about the pro mode but some might.

It’s a very good first outing on the switch and gives me confidence that FIFA for switch is here to stay and will only improve over time. Going from great to amazing. Hopefully ea don’t do what they’ve done for other mobile platforms going forward and just update wardrobe and p,Ayer roster. Hopefully this is the beginning of a real development cycle of FIFA for Nintendo. As such the bar is set pretty high already.

    TL;DR
Excellent first effort. Fluid control, lots to enjoy. Missing the journey which to me doesn’t matter.

The Switch version of FIFA 18 is a better portable experience than you've been able to get on Nintendo consoles up to this point, but it's hampered by Nintendo's insufficient online strategy. Unlike some previous EA Sports titles on Nintendo platforms, FIFA 18 isn't an ill-formed castoff, but it's an uneven performance and not a clear-cut victory.
