Looks fine, no frame rate problems, lots of fun to play. EA have pretty much abandoned it, though. No video capture, no way to play with your friends on-line (which many other games can manage, so blame EA not Nintendo for that). So, I can't be happy about EA.

I'll not buy Fifa 19 if it's released for Switch, because you can't trust EA, but I'm happy enough with this.

I think that there is a lot of criticism of this title that is for the most part misplaced.

It seems that from a reviewer perspective (and the general public) that the enhanced visual seemed to wow reviewers more and NBA 2k18 got the better review score. Alternatively FIFA 18 has been received much more harshly by the game media (mostly for the missing game modes). EA did their usual tact of not making review copies available until after released, a sign that they expected it to be badly received.

That aside, few reviewers (and the public) expected anything outside the bubble of what was happening on the PS4/XB1. The value of FIFA is being reduced to whether the Switch is getting the same functionality. This whole thing is not what the Switch is about. Its not competing with those consoles and their versions. This shouldn't be the standard by which this one is judged. The switch is a flexible beast with a diverse range of gameplay options capable of making a unique FIFA experience that stands alone, apart from what is happening on its more powerful cousins.

As a long time FIFA fan, I rarely adventure outside of my pro mode and general online play. I lost interest in the series for a few years so having not been exposed to them it makes little difference to me personally. However I remember how good FIFA was on the wii. The use of pointer controls really made the wii version stand out against its more powerful cousin back in the day. On the PS3 you could press a button to make players run to space, on the wii you could use pointer controls to actually make them go where you wanted. It was a great tactical addition. I remember at my old workplace we used to bring in a wii to play office tournaments. It was so good and added a unique dimension its gameplay the other formats couldn't match.

The Wii U version while lacking polish also had touch controls. Can you imagine the tactical advantage that could be gleaned by shifting from the simple button based defensive/aggressive controls to using touch screen to move players around live? It would make for so much better tactical, real time control. These unique elements could have made the Switch version a unique game in its own right with a compelling reason to sit side by side with its more powerful cousins (without competing with them in an areas its not well disposed to).

Judging the game by its potential for the device its on I must say that EA didn't tap into much of it. The online issues and inability to play friends is well documented. This is perhaps a Nintendo issue as much as it is an EA issue. The Ubisoft port of Steep has been hitting the same issues and Nintendo has to take some of the blame. That aside, its does take advantage of off screen portability, local multiplayer, split joy con play, the things we know the switch does that are unique. They are welcome additions and I love playing the game portably. I feel anecdotally that the battery life for this one is quite poor. I don't feel that my switch stays charged for much over an hour when playing FIFA portably. I haven't tested it per se but it feels like something worth measuring.

The other areas I mentioned for more flexible real time controls present in other versions of the game aren't in this one. The player isn't even allowed to use the touch screen to enter names. It is in these unique areas where there was real potential for it being a unique experience that I feel this version falls down.

it an OK game for what it is but our expectations for this one are high and it needed to be better.

FIFA 18 is pretty weird if you're used to FIFA games. The gameplay if like a weird mashup of pes and fifa. There a distinct lack of control, AI never seems to get into good space and keep possession more than 3 passes is pretty much impossible. There's no slow build up play here.

The games lacking a few modes but the only things I really noticed were the Ultamte team daily challenges, the ea catalog thing and that the new on the fly substition and pausing queuing weren't included. All of which there's no reason for other than just lazyness.

It's by far the best portable package of fifa, however on pitch its one of the worst FIFAs I can remember playing. If you like PES you'll probably like it. Honestly the Wii U version was more fun than this, this just has ultimate team and that didn't.

Beware of the people giving it 10s. They probably work for EA. No one can honestly believe this is a perfect version of FIFA.

I haven't played a FIFA game since 1996. To be honest not much has changed since then.

It was so annoying have to accept all EA's terms and conditions and allowing Nintendo to share some of your info with EA. The graphics are ok. The sound is ok. The game play is fun. I get angry reading this is the best portable version. I bought a Nintendo system because I want to play games

It's not the best fifa 18 you can get but it surely is still great to play, the portability is fantastic and you'll be able to play anywhere which I love, however fifa 18 on switch does miss aspect of the xbox one, ps4 and PC versions as the switch version does not contain Frostbite, Pro clubs and some ultimate feature including fut champions which for me is a let down considering I didIt's not the best fifa 18 you can get but it surely is still great to play, the portability is fantastic and you'll be able to play anywhere which I love, however fifa 18 on switch does miss aspect of the xbox one, ps4 and PC versions as the switch version does not contain Frostbite, Pro clubs and some ultimate feature including fut champions which for me is a let down considering I did buy the Xbox One fifa 17 last year and it looks graphically better and more realistic but graphics are not everything the switch still provides us semi decent graphics just not as good as other platforms, as well as this the transfer market is pretty low and it's hard to find certain players on the market which can be a huge struggle if you want a certain player. Although I understand why many people didn't buy the switch version I just wish more people would buy as the transfer market is very underwhelming and sometimes you can't even find games.

Overall I feel it's still a good fifa 18 version and definitely better than xbox 360 and ps3 versions however if you game at home and don't plan on playing on the go then this isn't the version for you but the probability is the best aspect of the switch version letting you play wherever you wish.

The game is no different from other games of the FIFA series, the graphics are tempting, the gameplay is also not up to par, in the Ultimate team you need to donate to win online !!

While the game is inferior and limited in many aspects, it’s not bad for an offline game of Career Mode or at least a good ol’ kickoff match. But what beats it is the World Cup DLC. It just feels so complete especially on a console like the Nintendo Switch.

This is FIFA 17 light. With less visual power, reduced modes and less impressive mechanics compared to its name sharing siblings this is a downgrade with a hefty price tag.

The Switch version of FIFA 18 is a better portable experience than you've been able to get on Nintendo consoles up to this point, but it's hampered by Nintendo's insufficient online strategy. Unlike some previous EA Sports titles on Nintendo platforms, FIFA 18 isn't an ill-formed castoff, but it's an uneven performance and not a clear-cut victory.
