Without saying a word, FAR: Lone Sails conveys a poignant tale of hope and perseverance, masterfully balancing style with substance for an experience that feels every bit as sublime as it looks. Sure, you could grumble about the shortness of the experience, the occasionally obtuse puzzles and the very, very minor control issues, but these problems dissolve away once you're invested in the journey. We highly recommend that you give this a spin.

FAR: Lone Sails is one of those special games that does so much with the small amount of time it asks for. Completing it in one or two sittings feels entirely achievable, and has just enough depth to its gameplay to feel engaging without being bothersome. The experience it delivers is a wholesome jaunt through the end of the world that put a smile on my face and warmth in my heart.

Inspired by games like Journey or Limbo, Lone Sails draws you in on Switch with charming music and an expressive art design. An emotional trip through an apocalypse void of humans.

FAR: Lone Sails is fine for what it is, and I liked my time with it — but throughout it all, I couldn’t help but feel like it could’ve been even better than it was.

Far: Lone Sails is a lonesome experience, but it’s also kind of a meditative one. It’s a bit like washing dishes without listening to something or talking to someone while you do it. You can find yourself getting lost in the monotony of the task, which lets your mind zone out. This might sound like a bad thing, but for me, it created a sort of focused-yet-relaxed state. By the end, even with all of the work, I didn’t feel stressed. Instead, that effort was a great way to unwind.

The storyThis game combined both amazing gameplay and world-building, mixed with utterly gorgeous art styles and an outstanding soundtrack. The story slowly unveils itself as the dystopian world mixed in with the rainy atmosphere gives such a powerful sense of loneliness and peace.

It is not for everyone however, if you are looking for a game of hack and slash, go somewhere else
And yes I mainly play fps and do understand the appeal for both audiences

The world design is amazing and beautiful and the rhythm of keeping your vehicle in motion is very satisfying. BUT buyer beware this game is only two hours long! Just as I felt it was picking up steam, it ended! There are no secrets or extras after you beat it so the replay value is very low. I was hoping for different vehicles or even different skins. *I originally gave this game a 5 because I was so mad at its brevity, but then I realized that was just because I enjoyed it so much. $15 for 2-3 hours of quality entertainment is not a bad deal. I plan on playing this game again just for the experience. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So, FAR: Lone Sails, where to begin, the game is made by Okomotive (who also made FAR: Changing Tides (which I will review sometime later)); is an avant-garde game all about you and your landship, it is a short, simple adventure with great visuals, a vibrant atmosphere, and an imaginative soundtrack that you can beat within 3 to 5 hours and the game itself doesn't have any "real" issues besides a short runtime and being a bit too expensive, but overall I feel satisfied with the game. Very short game about 4 hours, so i would recommend to buy this on special only.

This game doesn't need to explain much before you get started on board of a steam powered vehicle.
The goal of it simply is to move on. It's the game of escape in a post-apocalyptic world all presented in an atmospheric art style sometimes dark though.
And for once you don't have to kill anybody, a rarity in the games I usually play and a welcome change.
I just suggest to get it when it's on a discount because it's on the short side.

This game feels like a long tutorial for a game that doesn't exist.

It's a pretty game, with some background elements that imply a potentially interesting story. However, I can't recommend playing this game, as watching play through on youtube would probably give you the exact same experience as playing it.
