Everhood is a fun rhythm game with a mystic and eerie story, full of esoteric and cosmic vibes. It is the anti-Undertale, in term of narrative choices, but Foreign Gnomes cannot escape Toby Fox’s shadow.

Everhood is nothing if not memorable. There’s flaws here and there, but they pale in comparison to the fun and unique time I had. It’s not a very long game, taking around six hours or so for the true ending, but there’s plenty of different choices to make and self-imposed challenges to try.

Everhood is an enchanting rhythm-based adventure that falls short of greatness due to a few technical issues. Its combat system is an absolute joy and the music is brilliant, however, frame-rate drops and lengthy load times hinder what could have been a great experience.

Everhood could have been more but, in the end, cannot fully deliver the experience it has suggested in the beginning.

I enjoyed playing Everhood and the music was extremely enjoyable, but before we could apply for the marriage certificate, I realized how loudly it breathes when it sleeps and now I just want to suffocate it. I’m still giving it a recommendation, because not everyone is going to share my grievances with the narrative and the technical issues can be ironed out. There’s some definite high points here, but I don’t think it’s going to achieve immortality.

Absolutely amazing game. Got it in an impulse purchase and I just straight up couldn’t put the game down.

An engaging cast of characters, an amazing soundtrack, and gameplay mechanics I hadn’t seen before which made the game feel fresh and fun to play. Some of the online videos/trailers for the game can look a bit daunting but there are multiple difficulty levels if you’re not as on beat with rhythm/dodging type games. I wouldn’t say I’m particularly gifted with those kind of games however I did mange to complete the game on the recommended Hard difficulty, which I felt have the right balance between it feeling rewarding but challenging. You can change the difficulty at any point also.

I wish there had been some better cohesion with the story telling. Everything made sense in the end (kind of) but the beginning felt a little hap hazard and unless I missed a few cutscenes/character dialogue there are parts of the story I still don’t quite get but it’s enjoyable none the less. I do agree with some review comments that the load times can seem a little too long in places also.

Other than that I thought this was a fantastic game, if you’re looking for an RPG with a fun, unique, interesting and challenging gameplay then give this a try!
