Sep 30, 2017Two points deducted from the original 91% for the paid DLC and the miniscule downgrade in graphics, but five added for Xenoverse story missions and the portability the Switch offers.

Oct 31, 2017Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 looks, sounds and feels like Dragon Ball Z. Voices are spot-on, cinematic are true to the original and the battles are epic. A few characters are way too wordy, but so is the source material, so I’ll give it a pass. This is a love letter to Dragon Ball Z, and anyone who ever enjoyed the show will find something fun here. Just make sure to bring some friends.

Oct 31, 2017Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is a competent port on the Nintendo Switch. While it has obvious stutter in the online lobby and the framerate doesn’t match that of its rivaling consoles, being able to play in handheld mode with little difference in quality is a plus and will help you tackle the game’s expansive list of content from anywhere.

Nintendo Force MagazineOct 30, 2017I am confident in declaring Xenoverse 2 as the best Dragon Ball game in over a decade. [Issue #30 – November/December 2017, p. 73]

Oct 17, 2017While not a huge fan of Dragon Ball in general, I can say that I’m a fan of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 on the Switch. It does have its flaws. Namely with the camera and some of the training. Plus the combat can get repetitive as you mash out the same combos, at least in the early going. But I can definitely say that I found a Dragon Ball game that I can enjoy coming back to from time to time.

Oct 9, 2017Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 on the Nintendo Switch is a game for people who grew up watching the series every morning on Cheez TV. If you know nothing about the series, it's still a decent starting point, but it leans heavily on nostalgia to make its story work. It's one of the best action-RPG games on the console right now, and doesn't suffer all that much from the Switch's mobile hardware. On the go or at home on the couch, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is the best way to relive the Dragon Ball series to date.
-
Oct 6, 2017Thanks to its immense customization options and enormous amount of content, which will keep players entertained for a long time, this is a game that honours the Dragon Ball series and which can get even more interesting when played on its local multiplayer mode.
-
Sep 28, 2017Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 on Nintendo Switch is a very interesting late port and one that is very good but definitely could have been a lot better.
-
Sep 28, 2017An excellent port that gets even bigger on Nintendo's hybrid system because of its new controls.
-
Sep 26, 2017Arriving nearly a year later, but losing none of the charm and gaining some new tricks, Dragon Ball: Xenoverse 2 is ultimately a very solid version of the game on Switch, performance downgrades aside. An enjoyable and versatile battle system, coupled with a plethora of content that fans will appreciate, and an engaging story both new and old makes for a viable purchase option for both arena fighter and franchise devotees alike.
-
Sep 21, 2017Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 was a massive game on other platforms and is even bigger on the Switch. The visual downgrades were expected, but the removal of the gray filter present on other platforms actually makes the Switch version look better overall, in this scribe's opinion at least. The brilliantly rendered cutscenes, deep character customisation and fine-tuned fighting mechanics make for a title that is easy to pick up but hard to put down. This is another case of a game that makes one wonder just how much developers can do with Nintendo's diminutive console. Fans of fighting games and Dragon Ball alike should look forward to picking this one up.
-
Sep 20, 2017A more than OK port of the original game, capable of amuse you for hours, although it doesn't keep with the technical prowess of the other versions.
-
Sep 29, 2017Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is a fantastic combination of both fighting game and RPG that fans of the series will be delighted with! For those that aren't as familiar with the anime that this game is based on, you will find a title that is a fun timesink - even if you won't fully understand what is going on!
-
Oct 26, 2017Those completely unfamiliar with Dragon Ball may or may not be able to look past the faults to find a pretty decent game, but, to even a casual fan such as myself, Xenoverse 2 represents an incredibly fun game that succeeds both as an adaptation of the franchise, as well as a clever new addition to it.
-
Oct 15, 2017This is the best Dragon Ball experience ever been put to a handheld (at least if Dragon Ball FighterZ isn't coming to switch). The game has its problems like the cut in framerate and the lack of anti-aliasing, but the new additions to the game, and the great motion controls help this version of the game stand out.
-
Oct 4, 2017Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is a little less with a little more on the Switch. The graphics are tuned down as is the framerate. But you get a few exclusive features like local WiFi multiplayer and motion controls. There could be more in this version though.
-
Oct 3, 2017Overall, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 for Nintendo Switch is a fun game which works well when you get over the steep learning curve of fighting the game’s controls. Playing through the entirety of the DBZ story is a blast, and while some design flaws persisted to the port to the Switch, the game is still worth a play if you are a fan of the series.
-
Sep 29, 2017This is a great way to play the game thanks to the portability Switch delivers, but if you've played it before you won't really find any new features. If you haven't played it, it still is a good game and there's a lot of content to enjoy in this version.
-
Sep 29, 2017Xenoverse 2 for Nintendo Switch is the best experience we have ever had with a Dragon Ball game in a handheld system, but the game continues lacking some important aspects in terms of gameplay and performance. However, it is a remarkable game for Switch owners and DB fans.
-
Sep 22, 2017Some technical issues prevent the Switch version of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 from letting the player live the same experience seen on other platforms. Despite this, the game is fun and is what a Dragon Ball fan should consider buying.
-
Sep 20, 2017Quotation forthcoming.
-
Oct 8, 2017The great controls increase immersion, but can't balance out the monotonous battles. Only recommended for DBZ fans.
-
Oct 9, 2017Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 for the Switch offers its own set of unique features, only available for the Nintendo Switch in order to make up for its lacking power.
-
Oct 1, 2017Fans of Dragon Ball can now play on the go with this good porting of Xenoverse 2.
-

-
Sep 22, 2017What you lack in performance, you make up for in portability however. Being able to take the game out and about with you suits the way you consistently chip away at battles and roll through the Story mode. It’s hard to recommend the Switch game to anyone that’s already bought it, but for anime fans looking for something on their Switch to play out their shouty, Ki-fuelled fantasies on, this is the perfect offering.
-
Sep 20, 2017The Switch conversion of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 shines when played on the go, as the image quality suffers a little on the big screen due to jagged edges and a pretty strong aliasing. The game itself it’s more or less the same that we played on other platforms: a strong fan service.
-
Sep 20, 2017Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 for Nintendo Switch is a totally serviceable port of the original game released on PS4/Xbox One/PC. Even if the game's visuals take a hit on Nintendo's console, the fact that you can now take Xenoverse 2 everywhere with you is a big plus. If you have the Switch, like Dragon Ball Z and missed Xenoverse 2's original release, you could do a lot worse than to give the game a shot.
-
Dec 20, 2017Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is a massive experience for fans that is fun to play and packed with content. On the flip side, the combat can quickly get repetitive, and the need for grinding doesn't help, either. Add a few technical hiccups, and the Nintendo Switch version is the least desirable one of all. It's still playable and enjoyable on the hybrid device, but it's not as good of an experience as on the other systems. Some may prefer the mobility of the Switch system over the downsides, but if you have the choice and don't care for mobility, I'd highly recommend picking up the PC, PS4 or Xbox One version of Xenoverse 2.
-
Sep 30, 2017Dragonball Xenoverse 2 on the Nintendo Switch is a port and only adds a slight layer on uniqueness to an already available game on other consoles.
-
Oct 12, 2017It's not a great game, but it does enough to deserve its license.
-
Sep 29, 2017Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 was an entertaining but flawed game when it was released last year and it remains such on Nintendo Switch. If anything, this port feels like the worst version to pick up, with numerous graphical sacrifices and severe frame rate issues in the hub city whilst playing on the handheld mode. It does include the main story quests from the first game so newcomers won’t miss out on anything (even though the sequel’s story is similar), but the newly-added motion controls, while a novel idea, are far from the ideal way to play the game. The only appealing aspect for someone who has already enjoyed Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is that this version allows you to play it on the go, but even then it’s a messy port. For those new to the series, this is a solid entry point, but don’t expect it to set your world on fire.
