The game maybe start slow due to the narrative but later turns very cool, the music and the action are powerful, and the endgame is very awasome.
Now the gameplay is more like a TLOZ y the level design like a TLOZ fused with Metroidvania elementes, like exploration, boss fights, etc.
Not much to say but play it!

The game is a little slow though, especially at the beginning. The difficulty is a hit or miss, mostly an easy game, but at the end it can get quite tough and some bosses may give you a decent challenge. I must say that many fights were poorly pasted and could drag on, but as the story

The writing and difficulty are definitely aimed at a very young demographic (which honestly is a pretty bizarre choice considering the rest of this franchise), and, as many other reviews have pointed out, many ideas only feel half-explored as a result of this and thus the game gets a little boring and repetitive as it goes on, almost like it plays itself when you're following the critical path. This could've been remedied either with more interesting and challenging gameplay or by making the game a shorter 10-hours-or-so experience. As it is, it gets a little long-winded later on.

If you're not following the critical path and want to collect all the items, however, you will find that the level design and the map screen are NOT fit for this purpose. The levels aren't really open per se, but more of a collection of intertwined linear and narrow paths that very often don't lead to where you think they would when looking at them on the map. This makes item-collecting a tedious chore because you cannot just pick out an icon on the map and simply go to it like in an Open-World game or Metroidvania, but you have to first solve the absurd riddle that is this game's map design where no path ever leads you to where you think it would. Not fun.

Cereza's voice is horribly grating. Just hearing her shout CHESHIRE is enough to make my toes curl and it's really not a very good performance in general. The lady narrating the textbook parts is excellent, though, really nails the bedtime story vibe. What truly boggles my mind is that they gave the SMALL CHILD thigh-highs and a miniskirt. Wtf is it with Japanese people and sexualizing children?

All in all, I would recommend this as an introduction to Action-Adventures for younger players or for grown-ups who are merely looking for nice aesthetics and very breezy gameplay and not much else, although I would probably advise getting it on sale instead of paying full price.

Nothing feels too easy or too hard or too long and the game constantly keeps throwing new stuff at you which can be very surprising.

The graphics are beautiful, fantastic storybook art style with one of the best color palettes I have ever seen in a video game. Great story. Great voice acting. Great music. Also this game is still in 1.00 version and doesnt have a single technical issue, which is worth mentioning in 2023.

Cereza and the Lost Demon is a gem. The only problem is that it is 60 full price which is a bit too much considering its essentially an indie game and doesnt push any technical boundaries. I bought this together with Zelda Tears of the Kingdom via an NSO voucher which might be the best way to get this game right now.

So buy it now or wait for sale and then buy it. Its really that good! 9/10

The gameplay is very fun and innovative too: you control Cereza with one half of the controller and Cheshire with the other, this leads to a very diferent experience that's very enjoyable. I do think Cereza does not have enough things to do during combat compared to Cheshire, but it's the only big complaint about the controls.
The biggest complain I have is how bad the map is. Not only it is weird on how it navigates vertically, it also lacks the names of which areas the edges of one area connect to, so you're kinda navigating blind sometimes.
Absolutely fantastic game that puts a great spin on the metroidvania genre.

The gameplay is boring and repetitive. The story is bad. The graphics are pathetic. The level design is horrible. The enviornments load in late. The developers were too lazy and greedy to give me actual cutscenes, so they use a virtual book for cutscenes with very little animations. This whole art style stuff is just an excuse for developers to be cheap and lazy. Let me remind you that this game costs $60. The giant purple monster always does a cringeworthy roar when winning a boss battle. Speaking of which, the boss battles are trash. The physics are pathetic.

There is no multiplayer. So once you beat the story, there is literally not a reason to play this game again. Charging $60 for a game with no replay value is a cash grab. For goodness sake, why are developers so obsessed with the word Origins? Enough already. It's already bad enough that these lazy developers sold me shovelware for $60, now they're lazy to come up with names for games? I don't recommend this game at all.

In the end, what seemed like a fairly average, slow-paced indie metroidvania ends up charming you by combining a creepy fairy tale with some unique ideas, all under a beautiful visual finish. Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon may not be the most user-friendly for a 100% playthrough, but it definitely is a tale worth playing on its own merits.

Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon is a big departure from the mainline Bayonetta games usual formula. Instead of leaning on fast paced combat, scantily clad lead, a loud soundtrack and a story with a lot of killing and revenge. Instead, this is a family-friendly story, one that is told like a grand storybook and even has themes of love and friendship throughout. Quite the change of pace for our Umbra witch but quite the welcome one if you have your eyes open as to the type of game this really is; Cereza and the Lost Demon is a delightful adventure that thoroughly surprised me.
