    No digo que sea perfecto y por tanto la puntuación que le doy no lo es: hubiera preferido una historia más profunda como la de NIER Automata (pero claro, para eso es necesario un Taro.     I felt that my time spent on the Astral Chain was worth it as it was a thrilling experience as it had a unique combat system that never felt repetitive which I enjoyed. It also had a well-crafted world with likeable developed characters as well as beautiful art style and graphics. It has been a while since an action game has left such a positive impression that I sometimes reminisce on it.

Although the story is a bit generic I really liked it and if this is a con to some, its made up by the enjoyable combat which is accessible for all players in terms of difficulty, the fast paced action gameplay and cutscenes, the music, the futuristic cyberpunk visuals and the character customisation options. I did like theOverall, I enjoyed this game, one of my favourties on the switch!     It could have been a perfect game, because its art direction, combat, music and presentation are flawless.... but good lord, the investigation parts are AWFUL BORING, without that, it could have been a 10/10, a shame...

    El juego es muy bueno, para mí, es de lo mejor que he jugado en Switch, el gameplay está muy pulido y es muy frenético en las zonas de batalla, pues cada legión tiene sus usos y enfoques específicos, tu tarea es saber usar cada una en su momento debido y de forma coordinada, y todo acompañado de un buen diseño de personajes, enemigos variados, música decente, etc.

    He visto que hay gente que le molesta las misiones secundarias, siendo sincero, no son la gran cosa, pero tampoco lo pondría como algo negativo como algunos hacen ver, en mi opinión son entretenidas. También he visto quejas del plano astral, pues es poco variado, y eso no lo voy a negar, pues la estética casi no tiene variación, pero yo me enfoqué en otra cosa, y es que los mejores puzzles se encuentran ahí.

    Si te interesa un juego difícil, yo recomendaría subir la dificultad desde el inicio, pues creo que no es tan retante si lo comparamos con otros juegos, como Bayonetta, al menos en las misiones principales, pues el juego cuenta con misiones al terminar el juego que no son difíciles, son lo siguiente.

    Este es el primer "análisis" que hago aquí, y es debido a que me hubiera gustado que este juego tuviera más éxito, que más gente descubra y juegue algo que a mí me gustó tanto, así que si tienes duda si jugarlo o no, si te llama cualquier cosa del juego, lánzate directo, te prometo que eso que te llama la atención, ya sea gameplay, ambientación o diseño, va a ser lo que piensas y más.    … Expand

    I don't frequently replay games right away, but this one I jumped right back in. The NG+ options are excellent. If you like TRPGs, JRPGs, any Fire Emblem games, or just... good games, you will likely love this one.

    As someone who's always kinda liked Platinum's games but thought they were usually a bit rough around the edges, this is the most fully-realized and polished game they've put out. Tons of stuff here for both newcomers and genre veterans, and tons of surprisingly good side content and worldbuilding on top of the usual excellent combat and presentation.

    The game has pretty solid and innonative combat, but the platforming elements and the weird, riddiculous side quests extremely slows the pace. If there were no platformer levels and those side quests (carrying boxes, ice cream, injured people etc) the game would have been the best action game in years.

    This game is really excellent, I can’t put it down. The art style is amazing and the gameplay is just so much fun. Once you get the hang of switching between legions you can pull off sone really flashy and fun moves! Don’t listen to all the negative reviews, it might not be your cup of tea but it’s a brilliant new ip for Nintendo. A must play in my book!

    Love the use of astrals not only as battle companions but when in the open world finding hidden areas, traversing terrain you couldn't before and using them to assist you in multiple ways with your case and side-missions.

    I haven't gotten too far into the story yet, but it didn't pull me in quite as fast as a title like nier: automata did. It feels like there are a lot of parallels to the nier world just in terms of the situation Earth is in along with a team of NPCs to help you figure out just what exactly is going on at any point in time.

    I normally play on handheld but for this title I'll most likely play on docked only, the pro controller just feels better for overall movement and combat while the switch itself feels a bit clunky IMO.

    Overall, great impressions so far. Can't wait to continue through and hopefully 100% the game.    … Expand

    Gameplay is essentially pokemon ranger X Ace Attorney. Story is essentially a futuristic/apocalyptic shounen anime. It's not super original but it is charming at times. Combat has a lot of mechanics to master but feels great once you do. I'd recommend it overall.

    This is a pretty good game overall for the Switch. It has quite a bit of action. However the enemy types are not varied enough-except bosses. It gets a bit repetitive with the combat. I found the investigation activities to be pretty boring. I just wanted to get through them to get to more action. This is not the constant action of Bayonetta. The missions (Files) are very long- about 1-2This is a pretty good game overall for the Switch. It has quite a bit of action. However the enemy types are not varied enough-except bosses. It gets a bit repetitive with the combat. I found the investigation activities to be pretty boring. I just wanted to get through them to get to more action. Getting used to 30fps was one of the only downsides to this game. The other being I feel the story could have been fleshed out a bit more, although there will probably be a lot I catch on my secondAnother masterpiece from Platinum.     This game is great. Once you finish file 2 the combat open up and the more time you spend playing it and unlock more moves and abilities, the better it becomes. The music is amazing, the story is very interesting with some deep lore and likable characters. Sequel when?

    This game looks like a playable anime, the artistic direction is so beatiful, that feel a cyberpunk age and what to say about the gameplay it feels really nice when you take and push the buttons. Is a must buy for a Switch owner.

    The game for its graphics and performance is super solid. Its a very beautifully crafted game but it doesn't really teach you much before jumping you right into the actions. The storyline itself is decent or maybe even pretty good but nothing to brag about really.

    This title has a frankly ridiculous amount of depth. You can cruise through the game with very little challenge, or you can strive to complete each task perfectly. It must have taken a gargantuan amount of effort to make all these different difficulties viable and fulfilling. On top of that, the story is engaging enough to make me want to keep playing, chapter after chapter.

    Astral chain is a must-buy for Switch owners! The gameplay is really fun as you can pull off a lot of combos and advanced moves on enemies. The setting of the game is really great and has great world-building. The dimensional jumping is very cool and gives this game a great spectical. In conclusion, this is a must-play Switch exclusive!

    Astral Chain is a fantastic, and welcome addition to the action, hack-n-slash genre that PlatinumGames is known for. It is by no means a perfect game, but it everything else is so incredibly fun and engaging to get you hooked from the get go.

    Let’s get to the good stuff. The graphics are pretty good for the most part, but there are certain aspects (like backgrounds) that take a hit so    Astral Chain is a fantastic, and welcome addition to the action, hack-n-slash genre that PlatinumGames is known for. It is by no means a perfect game, but it everything else is so incredibly fun and engaging to get you hooked from the get go.

    Let’s get to the good stuff. The graphics are pretty good for the most part, but there are certain aspects (like backgrounds) that take a hit so that character and enemy models, effects and everything else on screen can be as flashy as possible. The music is also very catchy, with some pretty bangin’ metal riffs to get you hyped up to and ambience to set the mood. While going through each level, the game highly encourages you to explore: you might find a chest with consumable items, cosmetics, or other secrets. You’ll run into side quests that are fun and feel unique. As you progress through the story, you’ll have to play detective and pay attention to certain details NPCs will give you, which I found pretty neat. Speaking of the story, I was fully engrossed and kept wanting to keep going to see what happens next as things started getting crazier. Last but not least, the combat is engaging and so much fun: there is definitely a learning curve and a sense of mastering the combat with your Legions, button inputs, abilities, etc. in order to get a better rank. Of course, there are objectives that ties this all together that you can fulfill for a reward, i.e. killing a certain amount of enemies.

    Alright, lets talk about somethings that could have been improved. These are flaws that don’t drastically impact that game, but are worth noting as more of an annoyance. My biggest gripe is that you can miss side quests/items completely if you progress the main story just enough in that same level because it will prevent you from backtracking just a little bit to explore anything you might have missed. The mechanics of the game don’t quite work all that well, like jumping from platform to platform, and sometimes feels “janky”. Finally, a game that focuses on fast and flashy combat, dodging, and moving or quickly switching from target to target, the camera is a real hindrance during it all and can be very frustrating.

    Again, Astral Chains certainly does have its flaws, but it really such a fantastic game and an awesome experience throughout. If you’re a Switch owner, definitely don’t second guess yourself and pick this one up immediately; I promise you won’t regret it.    … Expand

    Your adventure begins just after you pick a male or female-presenting protagonist, then you’re prompted to a highly stylized and pretty good-looking motorcycle stage to finally hack and slash your way on foot through streets filled with Chimeras. It is a solid kick-off to a mostly solid game. After the prologue that introduces you to this post-apocalyptic world and its colorful cast ofYour adventure begins just after you pick a male or female-presenting protagonist, then you’re prompted to a highly stylized and pretty good-looking motorcycle stage to finally hack and slash your way on foot through streets filled with Chimeras. It is a solid kick-off to a mostly solid game. After the prologue that introduces you to this post-apocalyptic world and its colorful cast of characters, the story develops slowly between 11 chapters. The story has its twists and turns but overall has a good flow that focuses on an event for every chapter to finally tie in with the main narrative. It is not the most groundbreaking story that you’ll encounter but it is pretty interesting and the writers made the right call of keeping it more personal and expanding it with the grander-than-life events that happen in later chapters. Platinum doesn't shy away from doing stories with darker tones, but I think that after working alongside Drakengard and NieR Director/Writer Yoko Taro they got somewhat influenced by his style of writing.

    The real meat, bones, and metal of Astral Chain is its fast pacing yet simple combat. Similar to other action games like Bayonetta or Devil May Cry your character delivers fast and devastating combos with different combinations, the unique feature of Astral Chain that differentiates itself from other games of the genre is the Legion system. Aside from your character, you can summon a Legion that will attack any enemy that you're targeting and move on their own to the next target till they're eliminated.

    In RPG-like fashion, Legions come in the variety of melee, ranged, and tank, they can be upgraded and equipped with different abilities and skills that can be easily adapted to your playstyle, this Legion system compensates the otherwise simple combat as you only have one attack button and that's all. What makes the combat so addicting and rewarding are the Sync Attacks, after you complete a fixed chain of attacks with your weapon of use everything will slow down by a fraction of a second and you'll be prompted to press the Legion summoning button to do a powerful attack, these synced attacks can also be triggered by evading and when meeting certain conditions if you keep upgrading a Legion.

    While the focus of the game is the action parts of it, it has some variety that comes with side questing and puzzle-solving, this could be a matter of taste but not doing combat could be either a hit or a miss, as it might spice things a little at the cost of feeling a little like an obstacle to its "true" gameplay. For the most part, side-quests are fun to do even when many of them don't aport much to the story, so pacing for every chapter will definitely be benefited by omitting investigations and just let you chose freely to hunt down quests or go straight down to the main story.

    When you inevitable arrive at the Astral Plane you'll be entering the puzzle parts of the game, these parts have some reminiscence of the shrines in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild but mostly on an aesthetic level, as its puzzles aren't as deep, they tend to be more in the vein of God of War games, where you need to push a block or hit different targets at once without thinking too much.

    Hidden in the options Astral Chain gives you the possibility of splitting the Joycons and play it co-op, I don't know if the dynamic between twin and Legion change or if you can play with two Pro controllers (a scheme which I highly recommend as maneuvering your character and Legion at the same time can feel a little bit uncomfortable with the Joycons) as I couldn't test any of this by myself, but it surely is a pretty nice addition that in a way feels like an old school hidden option of the SNES era.

    After finishing Astral Chain I was pretty happy with the time I had while playing it, it was satisfying, fast-paced and for the most time, it was fun. If I was required to condense the feeling of the game it will be "Heavy Metal the game". It is not perfect but it is undoubtedly a great game, in more than a way it feels like a culmination of Platinum gameplay, mechanics, storytelling, and art direction. In terms of gameplay, it doesn't reach the finesse of the likes of Bayonetta but it is still a blast to have. Playing this in 2021 and not when it came up, make me feel a little guilty, Hack and Slash games aren't as popular as before, so bad sales could destroy a potentially great follow-up to a game.    … Expand

    The sound design feels pretty good on a decent home cinema system. The surround could ve been a little bit better still feels fairly well in comparison to other titles. Overall the world design is very uninteresting whereas the combat system can be interesting or simply painful button mashing. You can use numerous types of beasts and 2-3 weapons with which a combo-combat-system will drive the game forward. I liked the system a lot. Sometimes it felt a bit overwhelming but the game did a good job with introducing and forcing you to use dedicated stuff to get a grip onto it.

    Story and characters felt okay-ish. Acting and voicing is mostly available and good, which is plus, but the quality is so-so. I enjoyed the campaign and did a lot of side-stuff driving me to nearly 20hrs of gameplay but some of the game loops are very un-entertaining and feel very lengthened without any fun and necessity. It was hard to score this game. Sometimes it felt like a weak 7 but then the combat was driving and the boss monsters are well designed pushing it to a higher 8. Overall 8 seems fitting. The game is recommendable but the price tag might be a bit high.    … Expand

    The pros:
    + amazing graphics
    + totally japanese storyline
    + combat is easily accessible once the basics are learned, but it provides enough depth to provide a nice learning experience
    + Marie ;)

    The cons:
    - gets a bit repetitive in the first hours, after that more variation starts to freshen things up
    - awkward running controls

    Really awesome game with good graphics and a uniquely fun combat system. The investigations and scenes between the action might be a bit slow for some players, but it fits in well with the police job your character has.

    Astral Chain es un Hack and slash diferente al resto, el hecho de tener que controlar a dos personajes de manera simultanea y conseguir una simbiosis entre ambos, aparta un toque diferente para un género que parece que está todo inventado.
    Uno de los must para todo poseedor de una Nintendo Switch, poco bombo se le ha dado para el juegazo que es.

This game has a unique gameplay, it's absolutely gorgeous on the switch (on the same level as Doom), it has interesting music, and the setting and climate are well made. It's not perfect yet, not at all, but it's certainly an A+ quality game. Great and unique action gameplay, great visuals, and good performance make it an all-around good experience for any switch player. The only thing is that its story may seem a little rushed by the end but the game is still worth the time and money just for the great action experience

    Es un juego excelente, gráficamente, banda sonora, narrativa dura 10 horas aproximadamente, claro si te vas de un solo a la historia principal sin hacer misiones secundarias pese a ser por capítulos y lineal da la sensación de ser semi mundo abierto puesto que se tiene bastante libertad en los escenarios... Me parece un juego de calidad mucho mas que otros exclusivos de la plataforma

    Astral Chain easily rises to Platinum's best work. Fantastic story with nods to Neon Genesis Evangelion, with an amazing combat system that only gets more fluid and more adaptable as the game progresses. Beautiful visuals and a nearly locked framerate round out the stellar job Platinum has done on this Nintendo Switch Exclusive game.

    Juegazo de principio a fin, recomendado para todos aquellos amantes del género, menuda maravilla. La única pega es que en ciertos mapas quizás deberían haber puesto más libertad o más espacioso pero lo demás 10/10. Postgame bueno para echar otras decenas de horas.

This is a fantastic game I try not to score things "10 outta 10" I mean 10 outta 10 means its "perfect" and I don't feel any game is ever 100% perfect, but Astral Chain is pretty darn close!     Llevo 5 horas, y la historia de momento me está flipando, tiene toques y referencias a Evangelion, y el combate cuando vas desbloqueando el árbol de habilidades de cada una de las Legiones, se vuelve mas completo y épico, mas movimientos y combos que al principio parece que faltan, es jugar un poco, desbloquearlos y madre mía.

    Los 30fps del juego no son tan notables como me temía, fluidez máxima durante los combates, y las únicas caídas mínimas de frames las he notado al salir de una pantalla de carga.
    Gráficamente no me explico como han metido esto en la switch, y tampoco se como han hecho que esté tan optimizado para como se ve, la consola casi no se calienta comparándola con otros juegos de nintendo (con smash bros tras largas partidas se oye mas su ventilador, pero con astral chain no)
    El juego es como estar dentro de un anime, lleno de clichés de estos mismos graciosos, toques de humor a la japonesa con cosas absurdas que desentonan, ambientación muy muy buena, hace que te saque de la seriedad completa todo el rato.
    Artísticamente es precioso, el estilo cell-shading hace que parezca mas un anime de lo que ya lo parece.
    La única cosa que me gustaría que fuera mas rápida son las investigaciones, aunque considero que esa "lentitud" que digo es una buena manera de preludio a los puzles del plano astral y a la batalla con el boss de la misión.
    Los combates se hacen mas fáciles si aprendes en que momentos esquivar o realizar según que acciones, lo cual los hace mas dinámicos.
    La selección de quimeras me parece bien (aunque me gustaría que hubiera alguna mas, en plan por ejemplo una full defensiva=
    Espero que este juego sea nominado a los GOTY, por que Platinum ha hecho una de sus mejores obras, un nivel muy muy alto junto con bayonetta 1, 2 y nier autómata.
    Para mí este juego es un 12/10.
