And hey, you don't have to worry about getting fitted for cement shoes later, am I right? I just wish the presentation was a bit more illustrious.
  2. The graphics are bad, the sound is marginal at best, and worst of all, the gameplay doesn’t feel like Texas Hold ‘Em because of the poor AI.

If you're going to buy a PSP poker game, get the other one ("World Poker Tour"). [May 2006, p.95]

There's essentially no reason to pick up World Series of Poker. Scratch that, there is no reason to pick up World Series of Poker. Regardless of the fact that it's a portable version of Hold 'em, Omaha and whatnot, it's still not worth snagging.

Another cynical exploitation of a fad, but hey, at least it's portable. [Dec 2005, p.139]

A severe disappointment. The AI makes such ridiculous decisions that it feels like the decisions are just made randomly.

ONLY play via multiplayer, and even then only if you're somehow all trapped in a pitch black room without a deck of cards.

I have been playing poker for 15 years and I spend countless hours watching WSOP on TV. I feel I'm experienced enough to qualify my remarks just from my experiences in casinos. First off voices and/or little sayings during gameplay is irritating. Secondly and most importantly, the "AI" in the game is a joke. I have lost count on how many times I've gone all in before the flop with pocket aces and the computer calls me with only a 7/2 off suit. Sure enough a 7 7 2 drops and I lose. This is not an isolated incodent by far. I have watched "the pros" in the game make the most irresponsible calls that they themselves would never make. I've also noticed that the computer rarely if ever stays in if you do bet megarly to try to generate some chips in the pot. The computer plays as if it already knows the outcome and the only way to bypass the BS is to constantly save after each hand won (which are few and far between). The graphics are alright which is why I gave it as high a rating as I did, but otherwise I suggest taking your $20 and flushing it down the toilet...that way you can end your misery quicker. All in all...WSOP 2005 sucks!!!!!!! Full Review »
