  1. The only real excitement that the game generates is when your life is in immediate danger. And that's only because you'll be threatened with the prospect of having to spend more time playing it.
  2. One of the big reasons why Amaze might have lobotomized the A.I. is the notoriously awkward PSP controls when it comes to first person shooters.
  3. Doesn't feel like a true Call of Duty game. Gamers can blame Amaze if they like or the difficulty of developing a shooter on the PSP format, but either way Call of Duty Roads to Victory falls short of expectations.

That being said, I came to CoD: RtV right after playing CoD 3 on the PS2 (the only two CoD games I’ve ever played, for what that’s worth) and it was an enjoyable experience all the way through. I thought the graphics were good, the sound was great, the gameplay was action-packed and varied throughout the different missions and campaigns, and I never found myself getting bored or wondering when it was going to be over. The game is pretty much an “on-rails” type of FPS, meaning you’re going from objective to objective in a more or less linear fashion as opposed to Medal of Honor: Heroes which has more of an open world way of doing each mission. My favorite mission, which is a definite outlier from the rest of the game, was the air-to-air mission where you’re a gunner on a B-24. I think they may have done that on a previous CoD game, but it was a neat change of pace here and new to me. The game played mostly smooth with only one instance of glitching. In that case, one of my squad mates got glitched into a wall, and that character was needed to open the door for us to continue the mission. I tried everything I could to un-stick him from the wall from shooting at him to throwing grenades at him but nothing worked. Ultimately, I just had to restart the game, and I didn’t have that problem again. With that being said, this is still a fun and enjoyable game that will keep you entertained and wanting to keep pressing forward. Of the three World War 2 FPSs I’ve played for the PSP, Medal of Honor: Heroes is tops in my book, but this game is just a bit behind but still ahead of Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 for me. Full Review »
