Combined with the single player campaign, Call of Duty's online play rounds out a very impressive package, one that throttles the senses and shakes the soul.
  2. Take one part classic Call of Duty scripted FPS action, add in two parts improved level design, another one part updated graphics, and just about four parts upgraded multiplayer and you’ve got the ultimate Call of Duty stew.

Amazingly, the online environments look nearly as good as the single player experience and the maps seem to be well balanced and heavily tested. The frame rate was excellent and the architecture of the levels is nearly just as detailed as in the campaign.

The craft behind Call of Duty 3 is impressive. Treyarch deftly handles the stellar design duties passed on from previous developer Infinity Ward. [Jan. 2007, p.74]

The scope for large online battles and some great fun action in the single-player mode make this a worthwhile purchase. Fans of "Call of Duty 2" will really have a lot of fun with it. But Call of Duty 3 could have and should have, been better than this.

Yes, it's bigger and more beautiful, but it's ostensibly more of the same; better executed, but unlikely to win many converts. [Christmas 2006, p.120]
  7. Call of Duty 3 feels too much like a collection of outtakes from the other two Call of Duty games. It’s silly, fast and hilariously fun, but it’s also sixty bucks.

The single player mode with 14 levels is great, and the achievements to go along with it are entertaining to complete. This game probably has better graphics than any other XBOX 360 game. The reason why I did not give it a ten is because it doesnt have small levels for you and a friend to play split screen. I played my brother in this and it took about 10 minutes just to find him in the stage. But still, this game is one of the best XBOX 360 games yet. Expand

This game is a littleA good game, different from Call of Duty 2 with a more dramatic all most tv like war story with colorful characters. This game is a little rough around the edges with obvious signs of being rushed and put out before it was ready. Examples of this are holes certain parts of levels that let you see through the map as well as invisible wall that stick out and get in the players way in areas you are trying to fight in. The quick time events are a cool addition that unfortunately gets a little repetitive and boring near the end, but still give a unique feeling of satisfaction when blowing something up or beating an enemy soldier in hand-to-hand combat and killing them. While the game play and world design are a little Janky, they are good enough to be carried by the games interesting characters and the stories that are told about this part of the war through them. The story and characters while somewhat less realistic to actual war are still enjoyable to experience like being in a war movie about the battle of the Falaise gap. Expand

The only thing that saves this game is the online multiplayer - even with the little bugs and gliches its enjoyable.
