With a near perfectly judged difficulty curve, randomly generated dungeon layouts, and savagely addictive gameplay, for me, The Binding of Isaac not only makes an outstanding addition to PS Vita's ever flourishing digital line-up, it also represents everything that is good about the industries vibrant indie scene.

With any luck, if Isaac turns out to be even half the success that it's endlessly compelling gameplay so richly deserves, perhaps McMillen will team up with Nicalis once more, and bring the equally enthralling Super Meat Boy to Playstation systems too.

    Here's hoping! :-)

I've played this game over and over again, it's the same but a little different each time. I always look forward to entering a gold room and seeing what item I will find. It's really hard but in a good way as you don't feel like you're losing out when you die. The boss battles are actually fun and the enemies are imaginative and varied and need to be approached in different ways although those skull things with the extending necks that you can only harm when the neck is extended are annoying. On the firstExtremely unique indie masterpiece, perfectly suited for Vita and available for free right on it's release day on PS+, WOW!. On the first glance it might look kinda stupid and I'm not the biggest fan of the overall disgusting theme with blood, **** and piss everywhere, but don't let that fool you, once you get your hands on it, there is no way out. Gameplay, game design mechanics, depth and the overall fun factor and replayability are just amazing. I've been playing it for the last week non-stop and I just can't put it down, even after killing mom I still continue, constant challenge, perma-death, ever changing randomly generated levels, tons and tons of different items and just overall very unique gaming experience. I rank this along Spelunky as the best games you can get on your Vita for neverending source of hardcore fun. 10/10 Expand

Now Binding of Isaac: Rebirth has been patched on Vita so that the framerate rarely drops, this is a perfect game for passing many, many hoursNow Binding of Isaac: Rebirth has been patched on Vita so that the framerate rarely drops, this is a perfect game for passing many, many hours of your life. Also, for anyone concerned about trophy glitches (some of them used to be broken), I can confirm that I've received the Platinum trophy by playing on Vita alone. Expand

It uses random elements to change enemies, maxes, power-ups and bosses. I can only assume that if you are reading this, you are already aware of the game and just need some opinions on the product.

It looks and feels just like the PC version, with a few obvious problems that keep it from getting a perfect score. For starters, the controls can become wonky at times, even using the twin sticks, there has been a few times Isaac would shoot in a direction I didn't want him to, this can be alleviated using the Vita's buttons instead, but makes shooting overall harder.

On the topic of controls, pills and some powerups require you to touch the screen, which distracts from the overall gameplay. Meanwhile, R1 is completely unused.

The game also suffers from slow downs depending on how full the screen is. Although some players will see this as an advantage, not a hinderance.

Overall, it's not the best port.
