    Explicit narrative aside, I found Stranger of Sword City to be a real winner of a dungeon crawler.

    Stranger of Sword City is great fun but be warned that it is tough. However even if you die you'll soon come back to it, you can't help but think that maybe with a slightly different party or different weapons you'll get slightly further next time.

    It's unwelcoming and occasionally too difficult for its own good, but overall, 'Stranger of Sword City' is an accomplished dungeon crawler made by a team who clearly understands what makes the genre special.

    Even with the slow grind, I have no reservations saying Stranger of Sword City is a damn fine dungeon crawler.

    Stranger of Sword City takes the fundamentals of the dungeon crawler and coats it with a twist of Japanese.

    Whereas the developer's previous game, Demon Gaze, went pretty heavy on the fan service, Stranger of Sword City is a tale about death and the afterlife, and it has a sombre art style to match.

    Stranger in Sword City is a brutal and uncompromising experience that’s well worth overcoming. It features some interesting gameplay ideas along with a terrific art style and an OST to match. If not for its few notable flaws, it could have easily been the best dungeon crawler on the Vita.

    Team Muramasa shows its expertise of the Dungeon RPG genre with this title that offers solid gameplay, as well as beautiful character illustrations, but it falls short on the technical side.

    Stranger of Sword City is a great first-person dungeon crawler for the Vita. Although marred by some annoyances, it is definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of the genre.

The game is a satisfying challenge, but occasionally gives you something that is nearly impossible to find in the maps, which was annoying to me after a certain point. I also feel that the game would benefit from engaging you with a bit more story, even though the story isn't bad so far (I'm about half way through). Sprinkling more story segments here and there would break up the repetitive grind for items and levels.… Full Review »

Really cool elements in the game like being able to re-class your jobs (FFT style). Lots of character variety, items...It's like shin megami as well.

    Overall, very good. If you like a challenge, play it. The divinity system helps you when its difficult. Grind your levels, get good. Don't be fooled by reviews like Gamestop giving it a low score...Trust me, the game deserves a fair 7.5-8 out of 10.    … Full Review »
