Aug 26, 2024Underneath its charming exterior, WitchSpring R is a JRPG…it’s just not evident of that classification until the 20th hour. At that point, it doesn’t matter what genre it is, only that it keeps you fully engaged. From the lack of necessary grinding, hidden depth within its crafting system, and piecemeal sidequests, there’s quite a bit of unique things to do in WitchSpring R on Pieberry’s quest for pie. Thankfully, that charm persists until the very end.

Aug 25, 2024WitchSpring R is a great game. It is quite light and accessible, without a very striking story but delivers a fun and challenging gameplay loop that will keep the player entertained for dozens of hours.

Oct 10, 2024WitchSpring R is a thoughtful, deep and meaningful story which tells a tale of discovering oneself along with the perils of religion and bigotry. Pieberry is an engaging, thought-provoking protagonist who by journey’s end I had come to care for. Solid combat and great RPG mechanics and levelling systems helped keep me invested. It’s a shame that some areas felt too much of a slog at times and the sheer level of menus on offer can feel overwhelming. Visuals are mostly great and an absolutely stunning soundtrack and design help the game really feel unique. Charming is the word that just keeps coming to my mind when I think of this game.

Aug 25, 2024WitchSpring R is a delightful turn-based RPG with oodles of heart and humour and an enjoyable battle system to boot. It stumbles in a few areas and lacks balance but this sweet treat will still be a delicious addition to any RPG fan's library.
