Another rogue-like to add to the mix, Trinity Fusion may be a rose by any other name. It doesn’t do anything new, per se, but that it can go toe to toe without needing to is a good sign in itself. Let the future sounds and visuals take you in, but be warned: it’s a toughie.

Trinity Fusion is a good action platformer with a nice dimension hopping angle. It’s not startlingly original, though the issues that exist are minor and unlikely to bother anyone too much. It’s well worth playing.

Looking at how much time I’ve spent doing runs on this, even without the expectation of making it very far, is a testament to Trinity Fusion’s staying power. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: if a game can get me to procrastinate writing a review because I’m too enamored with playing it, something has gone very right. Eventually, you’ll go enough rounds that rooms and setups might start looking the same, and not every build will go out as planned due to the luck of the draw throwing you a bad weapon or useless perk. But all of that probably won’t deter a rogue-lite fan who can see the fun in the stylish and fluid combat, and sci-fi sightseers will be in for a treat with all the beautiful backgrounds and wild alien lifeforms. Angry Mob Studios has struck a damn fine balance between fun, progress, and style here with Trinity Fusion, so here’s hoping some rebalances and tweaks will grow out this multiversal menagerie even more into the stellar juggernaut it’s well on its way to becoming.

A good roguelite where the action and premise are the highlights, but falls behind the best of the genre. Nevertheless, if you like action platformers and are looking for a new roguelite to obsess for dozens of hours... You just found it.

Trinity Fusion fulfills its primary function, which is to entertain and challenge. Its strong point is its agile and entertaining combat system, which invites us to dodge at the last moment and combine the temporary improvements that we have acquired. It is designed with the idea that there is always a way to dodge damage and that, potentially, we could go through the entire game without being touched. That guarantees interesting bosses with logical attack patterns, which we can learn to dodge and windows to counterattack.

All in all, Trinity Fusion is an engaging roguelike that has plenty to offer to fans of the genre. It doesn’t have the charm of the likes of Dead Cells, but it stands out thanks to its multiple protagonists. It’s also great that you get to choose which worlds to explore in any particular run, adding some variety. Add in a Hyper Mode that allows those who are struggling to make things more manageable, and you have a title that’s well worth a look even for newcomers to the genre.

For almost everything that Trinity Fusion does right, it fumbles equally in some other crucial aspect.
