This entry will likely always be a controversial outlier in the eyes of many. Then again, my takes demonstrate that literally any of these games can be someone’s favorite or close to it. So, don’t feel forced to engage in seemingly compulsory self-repression if your tastes don’t align with the perceived majority.

Trails of Cold Steel IV is an epic finale to remember but the huge cast and anime tropes take their tolls on the narrative.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV is an epic ending to a plot that involves several story arcs making it an overwhelming game. It has the same gameplay system, but some mechanics were adjusted to make it more balanced. It received the same treatment as the third part for PS5, without complications beyond the visual.

The Cold Steel franchise reaches its final stop, but it doesn't make a smooth approach. Too many characters and events outside of the four named games make the additional litany of characters and events hard to apply to the franchise. There's enough to get by, and combat remains a mainstay aspect of the game. It's not perfect, but it's still a Trails game to the very end.
