Squirrel with a Gun is a chaotic time that is always looking to place your rodent in the most insane positions to make them look like an action movie star. It is quite janky at times and can wear on you fast, so we don’t necessarily recommend trying to knock all of its content out at once, but for a side game that you can go to when you need a break from everything else, Squirrel with a Gun is worthy of your time.

Squirrel with a Gun is pretty much exactly what you’d imagine it to be from the title alone. Yes, it’s shallow but it is also a lot of fun with it. Don’t expect a massively polished blockbuster, ‘cause this it aint. As physics-based playgrounds go, this is a good one. It’s fine to be silly and throwaway, which is exactly what this game is. Enjoy, switch off your brain and blow away some Agent Smith-a-likes with your rocket launcher.

Squirrel with a Gun is charming and a nutty idea at first glance. It’s better enjoyed in small bursts as to keep its small supply of silliness enjoyed to the fullest extent. If you’ve ever wanted to go nuts being a squirrel with a large arsenal of guns, this is the simulation for you.

Squirrel with a Gun starts with an innovative idea but loses traction as things go on and eventually becomes repetitive. Still, it definitely has the potential for future investment to iron out all the issues and build around its most solid innovations.

Indeed putting you in control of a gun-toting rodent, Squirrel with a Gun lets you lose in a suburban sandbox. There's plenty of platforming, shooting and puzzle solving to be done as you explore and collect the acorns required to make progress, and you can take things at your own pace. It's just a shame that it doesn't fulfill its potential due to a number of issues.

The opening absurdity of Squirrel With A Gun lives up to its name with some of the most ridiculous moments I've had in a video game. Once the novelty wears off however, you're left with a hollow, janky and frustrating video game that's a better meme than it is a gameplay experience. Still, the initial hilarity may be worth it for the more immaturely minded.
