  • Summary: The dragons have been popping peglins and stealing all of your gold for as long as you can remember. Enough is enough. It's time to venture through the woods, conquer the fortress, and delve into the heart of the dragon's lair to take back what's yours and teach those dragons a lesson. The dragons have been popping peglins and stealing all of your gold for as long as you can remember. Peglin plays like a combination of Peggle and Slay the Spire. The enemies are tough, and if you're defeated your run is over, but you've got powerful orbs with special effects and incredible relics that influence both your enemies and the physics you'll use to defeat them.

Peglin is easily one of my new favourite games. It’s cleverly designed, every playthrough feels different, and there is a comedic chaos to all the insanity that is happening throughout the game. It’s a game that has made me feel so many emotions — anger, frustration, excitement, and joy. While its deceptively simple design may not appeal to everyone, there is no denying that Peglin is a triumph of genre-melding proportions. It’s the perfect time sink for someone looking for a quick game to waste time on, only to find themselves wanting to go just one more round.

After being available on PC for some time, Peglin has finally made its way to consoles, and it's been well worth the wait. This roguelike twist on the Peggle works incredible well, and it's the sort of thing you'll find yourself returning to again and again. We just wish there was an endless mode to conquer: a game is over all too quickly as it stands.

Peglin is a bit of a missed opportunity. It's fun at first, but once you realise that your success depends almost entirely on what the game randomly serves up to you it begins to lose its lustre. This also makes its difficulty very inconsistent, you can win your first ever run by accident and lose your best run because the randomisation screws you over. If you just want to do some pachinkoing - which is definitely a word - this will give you plenty of variety to keep you going for a while if you can put up with losing through no fault of your own sometimes.
