One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 remains one of the best Musou games out there, and that status is further solidified with the slight changes made by the free current-generation console patch. The core gameplay loop remains engaging in its simplicity, but the additions of an expanded move set and a wide variety of characters who play differently assuage any concerns of fatigue. The quests can start to feel too similar, but the various modes give fans plenty to do. The presence of multiplayer for a good chunk of the game also greatly extends the life of the game. If you're a fan of either Musou titles or One Piece, this title is well worth having.

Sailing the seas of the new generation of consoles, One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 is one of those games with many reasons to be played. Not only the combat is fun and straightforward, but the missions have a good variety, especially thanks to the interesting characters and events in the story. With smooth performance and plenty of content – which can be expanded with DLCs or via more complete versions – this is a great addition to your library (whatever it may be).

Pirate Warriors 4 is a great One Piece game and an excellent Musou game. The PS5 version, albeit lacking new content, introduces new visual enhancements that make for the best way to play this adventure. Returning players may find less incentive to set sail on this journey again, but new One Piece fans beginning the voyage should be delighted with the extensive content available in the Legendary Edition.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 Legendary Edition is great for fans, both new and old. The game succeeds by bringing new life to a four-year-old game with some much-needed upgrades for next-gen consoles.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 finally gets the update it needed to become the game fans were hoping for back in 2020. Beyond the DLC and upcoming content, it’s a solid musou experience with more than 40 playable characters. The gameplay holds up well, but the rushed, watered-down story—trying to cram hundreds of chapters into just a few hours—does drag it down a bit. Still, from a gameplay standpoint, it’s a very enjoyable experience.

Omega Force sticks to the formula with Pirate Warriors 4, and that’s not a bad thing if you’re a fan of the musou format. Fans of the genre, and even of One Piece itself, will find a lot to like here. There’s a ton of content and a somewhat noticeable visual upgrade, and if that’s what you’re after, this entry certainly delivers. However, if you prefer action-heavy experiences with a more multi-layered approach to combat, you’re better off looking elsewhere. Missions and set pieces are clearly designed with long-time fans in mind, often relying on prior knowledge of the franchise. While that’s great for dedicated followers, newcomers may quickly feel lost in the story. As a package, it’s brimming with content, but fundamental issues with the formula mean you might ultimately want to let this ship sail by.
