Apr 9, 2021It's alright but fairly buggy, lacking the overall polish and fun factor of New and Tasty. I can't help but feel disappointed after waiting all this time for a sequel to New and Tasty only to find it's a step backwards in the gameplay department. If you aren't getting this for free on PS Plus I would wait for a sale (and probably some patches to fix the bugs).

Apr 8, 2021After the first few levels it opens it to an enjoyable game. The bugs on the other hand are frustrating beyond belief.
Falling through the floor, getting stuck in a locker because the slig won't return to his patrol, followers not getting into lockers and just standing there, the list goes on.
Once those issues are fixed it'll be more pleasant but at the moment it's just irritating. -

Apr 21, 2021Still a beta version after 3 weeks of release. Horrible surround sound mix. Lots of glitches and weird design choices like checkpoints too early so you have to redo a long stretches of level with a lot of micromanagment many times.

Sep 6, 2021I love oddworld franchise, but men this game was buggy as **** at the very beggining. I manage to end the game and even achive platinum trophy, but had to wait patch after pacht to do it.

Apr 16, 2021An old school game with a charismatic hero and the world, but a considerable amount of frustration that often has a cause not in the skill of the player, but in weird design. Especially placing checkpoints before a difficult passage in such a place, so that the player has to crafting and looting lockers again and again. Overall, it's a good game, but I wouldn't recommend it to everyone

Apr 20, 2021El juego tiene unas misiones muy top, otras más lentas. Creo que podría aprovechar más la potencia de ps5.

May 5, 2021Not as charming as the original 1990s games and less faithful remake unlike new n tasty. It's also missing enemy types. Challenging level design , decent graphics and an interesting and weird story make it worth a play. Quite buggy though.

Jun 18, 2022Cinematic story, engrossing world and good core gameplay spoiled by bugs and clunky controls…esp the terrible jump mechanics
-
Apr 13, 2021Poor graphics, poor controls (no DualSense support), poor audio, buggy, dated level design. 5/10 because it was free.

Oct 24, 2022This is a triumphant return to Oddworld. Soulstorm does fantastic things with Abe's story and shows some real advances with the developer's designs. Utterly excellent look, and a world that oozes with consumerist evils make this the definitive new Oddworld experience. There are absolutely no obstacles to heartily recommending this game to all players new and old. Can't wait to see what comes next!

CD-ActionNov 19, 2021Soulstorm is old school and it’s for you to decide whether that’s a flaw or not. You can definitely feel the spirit of the old Oddworlds, but for me the devs were to conservative. I would really welcome a touch of madness, some variety to spice thing up. However, if a solid, challenging retro platformer is what you’re looking for – go for it, you’ll be pleased. [06/2021, p.50]

Edge MagazineMay 20, 2021While that means Soulstorm works - accidentally or otherwise - as a metaphor for the struggle of the working classes, all that toil rarely makes for a particularly engaging game. [Issue#359, p.112]
