My Time at Sandrock-Just like My Time at Portia, takes place in a wholesome post-apocalyptic world around 300 years after the Day of Calamity.

You'll take a job offer in the city-state of Sandrock, assume the role of a fledgling Builder being sent to a wild and rugged townscape. It's up to you and your trusty toolset to gather resources, build machines, and fix up your workshop into a well-oiled production machine, and save the town from the jaws of economic ruin, as well as a few other unexpected complications.

    Key Features:

CUSTOMIZE AND BUILD YOUR WORKSHOP: You'll have an intricate set of machines that all work together to produce parts of huge structures for the town that you assemble piece by piece, or head to your worktable to craft hundreds of unique items that can help out individual townspeople or be placed throughout your own homestead.

EXPLORE THE OPEN WORLD: You'll explore the vast deserts surrounding Sandrock, diving into ruins to find ancient relics from the Old World, facing the dangers of dungeons and their denizens, then return to your homestead with encumbering bags of treasure in tow.

MORE ELABORATE STORY AND DEEPER CHARACTERS: a vastly enriched storyline, hundreds of side-quests boasting over 30 completely new characters, each getting more attention than before with their own story to discover, as well as the return of a few familiar faces for fans of the series.

NEW COMBAT: a revamped combat system that allows the player to quickly shift between melee combat and 3rd person shooting mechanics.

SKILL UP: Level up your character with a variety of skills to aid you in your adventures. Decide on whether to boost your crafting, combat or social skills depending on your play style.

AND THERE'S MORE: You'll take your profits and convert the empty prairie lands around you into farmable land for a more leisurely lifestyle, then sell your crops, or transform them into delicious dishes. There is an original soundtrack with dynamic in-game music that reflects where the player is and what they're doing.

You will find everything you enjoyed about My Time at Portia and more, and you will feel right at home in the delightful life-sim RPG that is My Time at Sandrock.

Once all the glitches and other buggy performances are cleared away, I’m sure My Time at Sandrock will be a practically flawless, cozy game. I look forward to continuing my town expansion, and I already can’t wait to see what new adventures await for the rest of the My Time series.
  2. My Time at Sandrock is easily the best life-sim of 2023. While it’s not perfect, I haven’t been so immediately grabbed and long-term addicted to a game like this since I first played Stardew Valley, and it’ll be in my regular rota for the rest of the year. It puts its best foot forward with the production and building side of things, then keeps you coming back with seemingly endless side quests and well-developed characters.

It’s a game I could easily see myself winding down with during the evenings, ticking off my to-do list of tasks while wrapped up cosily. The music, the style, the brief thrill of finding rare components or clearing dungeons; it gives me the same feelings that Harvest Moon once did, but God damn, there’s a lot to be cracking on with at any given moment. With that in mind, I think it’s about time I return to Sandrock.

My Time at Sandrock is a huge life/farming sim that, once you start to understand its systems, can be a hugely rewarding experience.

I’m hopeful for My Time at Sandrock. While it does have its hiccups left over from the beta that impacted my gameplay from time to time, they were my only real problems with the game itself. My Time at Sandrock is an enjoyable, well-paced game that eschews genre expectations. I enjoyed tangibly seeing how my own, personal progress was helping to rejuvenate the flatlining spirit of the town.

My Time at Sandrock is a game that you’ll have no trouble getting into if you’re a fan of the genre. If you’re new to cosy games on the whole, though, it’s also one that is easy to pick up and play - making it a great entry-level title for those checking out something slower in the colder months and dark nights.

My Time at Sandrock certainly doesn’t skimp on the content, with players able to expect at least a hundred hours before they hit the credits. It uses those hours well enough, with an absorbing gameplay loop that always gives players the feeling that they are progressing in one manner or another, even when it might be categorisable as busywork. Despite a weaker presentation than contemporary titles and a last third that meanders without the urgency of what came before, the game is a pleasing experience and one that those with even just a passing interest in the life and crafting sim genre are likely to enjoy their time with.
